It works on the funny level because a very beautiful woman is made to feel awkward in front of the older man.

It works in Japan because respect for your elders is still normal. If this was made in the UK the girl would say “What are you looking at? Fuck off you perv!”

I like this advert. That Petite Japanese girl is so cute. You could not get a better girl to do this advert. She is so lush. She is way more tempting than the biscutit. Indeed they are exactly the same, just re-branded for the UK. You can see on the box it's made by Glico which is the same company that makes Pocky in Japan. Doesn't take a genius really...

Mikado is originally a snack made in japan, its real name is pocky but got changed to mikado when it came to the UK and Europe. i cant remember why they changed the name, and its been out for years in the US and Asia
