  • love conan i am about to update to the blu ray of canan. and firefly and serenity is awesome. always love watching ur vids mate

  • @thegarthgoodviewshow I just got Conan The Destroyer on BD yesterday from the same friend, can't wait to do a double feature in the coming weeks, should be epic! The lady & I are really looking forward to watching Firefly and subsequently Serienty, I believe it'll be on the cards shortly. Thanks for the kind comments, Garth :) Looking forward to your next update, bring it on.

  • Ah the old books being made into movies. I was a Dr Suess fan meself but hated The Grinch lol. I don't suppose they'll ever do a movie of Little Black Sambo. When the girl's away, you could colour in the WTWTA book!

Poor old Magna Pacific, they release such shite things. Mind you I still pick them up :) Nice mix of titles.

  • @AussieRoadshow Haha...I'm still laughing about the 'Little Black Sambo' comment :) I didn't see 'The Grinch' but I did see 'Cat In The Hat' and that was a hard watch, nailed stylistically but it was boring.

Some of those old Magan Pacific titles were great as they'd be the only version of the film available anywhere in the world on DVD at the time and some still to date. Their later titles' quality really improved but unfortunately these days they're just releasing documentary and reality TV

  • Far out I so got to get the Tenebrae blu. The budgie in teh background agrees!

Never seen The Rage disc before. "Megadose of pure terror" sounds good. Long Weekend used to be a fiver at Top End. Horseman is pretty tough, although quite a lot is atmospheric as opposed to on-screen violence. I'm glad we're making these sorts of movies again. Did you see Snowtown?

Frozen was great, slow to start though builds up. The freezing skin on their faces really freaked me!!

  • @AussieRoadshow It's a worthy upgrade, Koopa lost her shit over that menu, I know as I cleaned her cage afterward!

I say avoid 'The Rage' at all costs, watched it over the weekend and it was awful, it bordered on being so bad that it was good but ultimately it was just bad.

I enjoyed 'The Horseman', nothing groundbreaking but I always like a decent revenge film so it filled the void for now and the fact that it was Australian made me proud.

  • @AussieRoadshow I caught 'Snowtown' at the movies and was underwhelmed, a little too sensationalist in the shock value for me in the sex and violence stakes.

Yeah, I found 'Frozen' to be genuinely frightening and suspensful as I could see myself in a sceneio like that in Falls Creek.

  • Wow! There are a bit of good movies that you got. That Conan film looks good. Frozen rocks as a movie I loved it, very well done. If you like Adam green films then you will enjy this one.

  • @the13thwolfman I'm keen to see 'Hatchet 2', been hanging for that one for a while and figured I'd pick it up when the BD went cheap but it hasn't dropped much yet. Have you see it?

  • Great stuff man!!

  • Conan is on Bu-ray! One of my all time favourites even since I was 5 years old.

Mimic is pretty good, I haven't seen it in years and I had the biggest crush on Mira Sorvino. Great video!

  • @DrHasslein Yeah, both Conan films came out on BD this week locally, really cheap at JB too, only $19.98 each :)

Awesome, another Mira fan, she was a beauty in the day, what happened to her?

  • @CarryTheZero1980 I don't what happened to her, it's a shame. She could have had a career even greater than her father. I suppose she still can if she wants to.

  • Great update Jarret. I really dug Long Weekend as well, pretty eeirie stuff, & that sea lion ... Eeek !. Big Fan of Conan The Barbarian too, not so sure about this new version coming out !. Hatchett II is pretty much as over the top Eighties styled gore & horror as the first, so well worth getting. Please do get & watch Firefly before seeing Serenity. My favourite TV series of the last decade !. Good to hear your positivity on The tenebrae disc. Even more looking forward to watching mine now :)

  • @buckaroobanzai Thanks Paul :) 'Long Weekend' is an Australian classic such a bizarre and brilliant horror film, among my favourite Australian films of all time. I saw the trailer for the new Conan and have to admit it didn't do a lot for me but will check it out on BD once it's released regardless. That's fantastic about 'Hatchet 2' as I read mixed reviews when it was first released in the US but the general consensus of fellow Tubers is that's good value for what it is.

  • @buckaroobanzai I'm thinking the lady & I will need watch 'Firefly' in the coming months as it's only a brief one off season and we've put it off for too long, your love for it has only piqued my interest further :) Definitely throw on that 'Tenebre' when you get an opportunity, the new interviews were fantastic and really added the value to the Arrow release.

  • @CarryTheZero1980 Jarret, you will Both LOVE Firefly, guaranteed :) . Once you watch the first episode you will be hooked. Be prepared to leave enough time to watch more than a songle episode each sitting because as soon as one episode finished you will want to dive right on in with another. The theme music is so danged catchy as well, it will stay in your head in a very good way & you will sit through the opening credits of each episode without fast forwarding to the show just to hear it again

  • @buckaroobanzai Sounds great, might be sooner than later for us on viewing this one. I'm thinking it may be a weekend marathon in a month or so's time :)

    Did you ever watch 'Dollhouse'?

  • @CarryTheZero1980 I really wanted to watch Dollhouse, love Eliza Duschka, but there is just so much good stuff to watch & not enough time to stick with everything, so unfortunately it was one I had to let pass by. I pick out a few new series each time & stick with them. At that time I probably decided to go with Fringe, which I really enjoy. Just started watching Falling Skies, which strangely to me seems to have a similair structure to the brilliant The Walking Dead !?.

  • @buckaroobanzai A friend was telling me about 'Falling Skies' last night, looks like I'm going to have to check this one out.

Dollhouse is really worth checking out one day, sadly only two seasons and the second season is where it gets great as they work with overall story arcs rather than a new mission every episode.

  • @CarryTheZero1980 I hope one day to be able to watch Dollhouse :) . Definitely worth checking out Falling Skies, although for me The Walking Dead is a MUST & looking forward to the second season this fall. Hope Archie had a great walk by the way, he was definitely up for going out during your video show. How many of that six pack found their way back into the refrigerator by the way ? ;) .

  • @buckaroobanzai I was the same with 'The Walking Dead', found it to be consistently riveting edge of your seat horror drama and I'm dying for the second season (pardon the pun). We're thinking of re-watching it soon as the BD has been collecting dust since I got it and we've had withdrawals :)

  • @CarryTheZero1980 Haha, me too. I went for the DVD set as it was too good to let go, brand new for only £5.50 & the US TSCS set is fully Uncut, unlike the UK / Euro releases & TV showings apparently as a few scenes from a few episodes were trimmed !. The show airs in the UK on an HD Channel though, so first time viewing is in High Def. I think the slightly grey tone of the series still makes it highly viewable on DVD so not too worried at not having the series on Blu-ray, & lots cheaper :)

  • @buckaroobanzai Archie got his walk but was a bit of handful last night as he had me all to himself so he wore me down and my eighties T &A movie marathon fizzled after two films when I was falling alseep on the couch. That could be partially attributed to the lack of beers in the fridge now too ;)

  • @CarryTheZero1980 Excellent, glad to hear it :) .

  • Long Weekend was an interesting one, I enjoyed it, quite unpredictable. No special features for the UK release unfortunately though.

I watched The Horseman earlier in the week and it was pretty good. It's nothing new or original but it's quite brutal and gritty, just like revenge movies should be.

I picked up Frozen myself a few days ago and I'm looking forward to watching it, read mostly good reviews for it.

Mimic is underrated. Looking forward to the directors cut though.

    Great vid mate!

  • @roastedskulls Ah good I'm glad you have a high opinion of Mimic, gives me more faith that I'm going to dig this one second time around, I can't believe that it's been over a decade since I saw it last.

Frozen's great, a genuinely original thriller that plays upon that though of being trapped in isolation.

I really want to get a daybill poster of 'Long Weekend' but they don't come cheap unfortunately, up there in my top five Australian films of all time.

  • @CarryTheZero1980 I'll keep an eye out for a Long Weekend poster for you, may be one will pop up on ebay UK or Amazon UK.

  • Awesome Purcahses Jarret!!

Awesome Arrow release of Tenebre. That menu with the eyes moving is creepy. Conan: The Barbarian is great.

Awesome trade with Andrew!! He is an awesome friend and youtuber. Love Frozen. Awesome and intense film. Adam Green rocks. Love Hatchet 1 and 2. Spiral is a great amd underrated film. Serenity is a great film, but I really enjoy Firefly as well.

  • @Rhine1988 Thanks Justin :) I'm really stoked on that menu for Tenebre, one of the best I've seen in a long time. I'm waiting for the price to drop on 'Hatchet 2', really want to see it and see it on BD first, I'm glad you love it as it'll likely be the same for me! Adam Green is definitely one of my favourite new horror filmmakers, he has a lot of passion for the genre and it shows in his films.

You're right, Andrew is the man :)

  • Awesome haul man! One of my mates I've just moved in with has a copy of Frozen, that's a film I haven't checked out yet - really looking forward to checking it out though. And that Arrow release of Tenebrae is just beautiful haha. Hope all is well though man! And did you manage to check out Martyrs yet thinking about it?

  • @IGoldenThroatI Great to see you back, Richie! You've been missed on here, Matey )

I'll be keen to hear your thoughts on 'Frozen' once you watch it.

I did watch 'Martyrs' a couple weeks back, great concept well executed but a bit brutal for me, that said it was completely necessitated by the plot, I did enjoy it if that's the right way of phrasing it.

  • @CarryTheZero1980 Thanks man, and I'm really glad to be back! And yeah, thinking I'll give it a watch tomorrow acutally, and I think I'll upload a vid reviewing it afterwards.

Yeah, that makes complete sense. It really was fucking brutal - definitely one I won't be able to watch again in a hurry haha, but I really loved it.

  • Hi Jarret.

Great update. Those eyes on the Tenebre menu freaked me out lol. I still havn't received my package yet, so hopefully early next week.

Thanks for the shout out and kind words, it means alot. I'm really glad you enjoyed the package, we'll have to do another trade sometime.

I didn't like Frozen, found it pretty average. I agree with your comments on Where The Wild Things Are. I grew up with the book, but didn't care for the movie at all. Serenity is fantastic, as is Firefly.

  • @ANDREWBALLINA Thanks, Andrew :) That menu is great, one of the best I've seen in a long while. Fingers crossed you get yours early next week so you can delve into that 1982 giallo classic :)

It was a great trade sand we'll definitely have to another down the track!

    Have you ever watched 'Dollhouse'?

  • @CarryTheZero1980 .... Nope, I've never seen Dollhouse.

  • @ANDREWBALLINA It's worth checking out, only two seasons all up, it was created by Joss Whedon and has a lot of actors from his universe of shows.

  • The Rage looks craptacular! Where can I get that for $6? Oh let me know if that Mimic is actually letterbox or 16:9, the back says letterbox but you just can't trust covers these days!

  • @ExplosiveAction Haha...doesn't it! I'm keen to give it a look tonight, at the very least it should have decent gore. Yeah, odd that in this day and age with Icon issuing a back catalogue title that they'd do in letterbox, I'll let you know as soon as I watch it, should be tonight :)

  • @ExplosiveAction I picked it up for 2 for $12 at one of those mid-mall kiosks where they sell books and DVDs. There's two at the Chadstone Shopping Centre here in Melbourne and they seem to do alright as there's new titles almost every month with product from Umbrella, Big Sky, Beyond/Bounty, Magna Pacific, Madman etc...

  • Right when I saw the Conan blu ray I heard the theme music drum beats...the tenebre looks great...way better than what I for here in the states...haha. Its been so long since I seen mimic-good flick!

  • @hooligan8141 Yeah, I'm stoked that Arrow has given Tenebre a decent treatment on BD. Looking forward to revisiting Mimic tonight, such an unexpected and awesome bonus :)
