I raise registered american paint horses myself so I know what I am looking at. To answer your question, the guy was pushing forward on the stallion so that he didn't move back, because often stallions lose their erection immediately and "slither" out of the mare even before they are done fully ejaculating. They just wanted the stallion to finish, kinda like the longer the better. I don't see any abuse here towards the mare either but it is strange to have the mare tied and the stallion loose.

He was pushing on the rear to make sure the stallion was fully inserted into the mare. The further, the better chance of the mare taking and a foal being produced. The rope is so the stallion doesn't bite the mare, he holds onto the rope instead. They know exactly what they're doing, I breed horses all the time and this action is made upon many many breedings where I live.

Ive bred horses- and personally- Im very much against using hobbles( the restraints you see the mare in) if they kick or werent receptive to breeding, I dont force the breeding and find a differnet pair- for genetic reasons and moral ones.
