Who would buy this over a 2012 Camry Hybrid? The mileage of the Camry Hybrid is significantly higher than the estimates for this Malibu ECO, with Toyota's superior resale value and proven hybrid system as well. I wonder what the regular Malibu's EPA rating will be...all I can find so far is "in excess of 30." It better match Camry/Sonata 35 or it will be a disappointment. Even the Accord is going into its last year with 34 mpg hwy and a new gen coming out soon, too...

@soyntgo4it What prototype was this? GM and Chevy never made any pretense to making the Malibu anything but a serious stab at the Mid-sized family sedan segment. That means 99% fun free, so no 6-cyl and no Manual. The goal is to make a car that "out-practicals" the Camry. Why? These are people impressed by different performance metrics: F/econ, creature comforts, General build quality, reliability, etc. Stuff that doesn't have a lot to do with go-fast and fun.

@soyntgo4it Any automaker in the M/S FF Sedan segment who is using or will use turbos, is dropping the 6-cyl. GM will introduce a turbo-4 later. They have said as much. But for now, they are focused on getting the car out, right, and making those all-important F/econ scores, this segment's buyers are looking for. a non-hybrid 38hwy is pretty darn good, TBH. If GM did not take the hint, they would be "so going under it's crazy". You must be a kid not to get that.
