well, they don't cover their entire head the way muslim women do, except for when they're disguising themselves (ie when Geum Young was sneaking out of the palace) so yes you're right in that the cloak obviously does serve a purpose. I was simply saying that for this particular scene, Jang Geum never once uses the cloak and keeps it over her arm, so for the sake of mise en scene, the cloak really has no point.
