  • I remember seeing and liking the opening on this show. Believe it aired Fri. evenings at 9PM or after that time on NBC since KYW in Philly at the time was an affiliate I saw this on. Didn't know Dom Deluise was on this show and Kathleen Freeman who I remember more from the Jerry Lewis films.

  • Loved this show. Check out the neon DONT WALK signal @ :26. Today those sell for lotsa bucks, on EBay. Thanx for posting.

  • Good show, but it seemed to repeat the same jokes over and over again. Though perhaps me watching entire series (22 episodes) on DVD in the space of a week may account for it seeming repetitive...

  • Kathleen Freeman was always good at playing a loudmouth, overbearing bitch

  • This has a very "Soylent Green" type vibe to it....

  • Dom DiNapoli!

  • I remember this! how funny!

did you know that Kathleen Freeman, who played the mother, also was Pheobe Dinsmore, Lena's diction coach in "singin' in the Rain"?

  • I think the problem with this show is that is was on NBC. I have this show on DVD and it is Funny!!!

  • it's funny, it seems there are folks out there today who think 1973 was all fun and games, but the outlook conveyed in this opening song suggests that folks in 1973 didn't see it that way.

  • I rented Lotsa Luck from Netflix even though I never heard of the show. It isnt half bad, but still I could see why it was short lived. It just didnt have that certain special something that other tv series at the time had like MASH or All In The Family

  • omg, cant believe they tried to remake a classic british sitcom in the states. why not just show the original. even the opening credits are cringeworthy.. i mean look what they have done to "the office"....enough said.

  • Being taken from a UK show is NOT the reason this program didn't succeed. Many successful US shows came from US shows, Steptoe/Sanford and Son to take a well known example. The main reason is that it was ahead of it's time. Too dark. And, as OldWorldTelevision pointed out, a bit too racy at the same time. (More positive but racy might have worked.)

  • Have none of you seen the original British version, "On the Buses"?

  • @ScrewAttackEurope i am a absolute fan of on the buses, but you have to remember, you guys go t all of our shows but we didnt even know that steptoe and son existed until the last 10 yrs because we havent had an oppurtunity to watch it...I LOVE steptoe and son and can tell you all about them now...far better then sanford any day...and alf over archie bunker....bbc didnt like to share and its hard even now to get coronation street episodes ...thank god for ways to get around things!!!!

  • It's available on DVD.

    Truly hysterical show...

  • this did,nt do well in the usa for a reason

it was taken from the uk version on the buses

    any clips of this anywhere

  • I still remember how funny this show really was... another lost gem from probably the best era of comedy television.

  • Look how thin the great Dom Deluise is in this show! Dom was at the top of his game in this wonderful series originated by the tv genius Carl Reiner..the american public's taste is so hard to figure out... i loved this series...guess it was ahead of its time..and yes i too most liked the character of Bummy played perfectly by Wynn Irwin..

  • I think that this "Lotsa Luck" TV show need more "luck" and good luck then it apparently got since it didn't last too long on TV even though it was very funny. I do remember this very famous comedy show from the 1970's.

  • Apparently it wasn't famous enough since it lasted only one season. I mainly remember the bum of a brother-in-law who never would seek work, yet would lounge around all day in the apartment in a bathrobe and a Yankees cap turned backwards (long before it was fashionable to wear a baseball cap that way). Anybody got eps of this on youtube?

  • I remember this show. It was funny even to an 11-year-old. My dad used to watch it all the time and was pissed when it was canceled. So was I.

  • A show that certainly deserved to run more than a single season.Dom DeLuise will be much missed.

  • Same crap you hear from people this age. IT'S NOT YOUR WORLD ANYMORE! I'm 45, IT'S NOT MY WORLD ANYMORE EITHER.

  • Get off your old asses and use your smarts to thwart the youth of DumbMerica.

  • Wow, I remember this show. I wish they'd put long-forgotten shows like this on TV Land every once in a while....a bit of trivia....Kathleen Freeman, who played Dom's mother here was originally the first choice to play Alice on The Brady Bunch. (Hard to imagine anyone other than Ann B. Davis as Alice!)

  • Never seen this but would wanted to watch one episode to see how it faired against the UK version which was On The Buses and then American's made there version

  • The lyrics of the theme song are even more true today than in 1973.

  • I responded with my other youtube page.

No I have never come across the Corner Bar

  • Don't have The Corner Bar or have ever seen it anywhere.

  • Oh, thank you! First thing I really remember him from. I was 11 when this ran. Would you have the opening to "The Corner Bar" which ran about the same time?

  • America wasn't ready for sexual humor yet. In only a few short years, SOAP was the biggest thing on TV. It was just a bit a head of it's time.

Another show that falls into this category was "Hot L Baltimore" Another very funny show.

I can't locate this show anywhere but I keep trying.

  • @OldWorldTelevision did u try netflix?

  • @bettypro

I haven't them but they won't have it.

I think only 13 shows were made in 1975 and it was really pushing the envelope for it's time. It has never been in syndication and of all the collectors I have met in my life, no one has ever come across even 1 episode.....I keep hoping someone somewhere has the original films and they weren't taped over..

  • @BobbyColePopMusic just checked netflix and they have the whole thing!!! :) it will be my next rental .....

  • @bettypro

    Hey Betty,

This is my other screen name.... I just checked Netflix and don't see it. Can you send me the link to where you saw Hot L Baltimore?

    Thanks

  • @BobbyColePopMusic oh im so sorry, I though it was the series of lotsa luck you coudnt find~ i will look around tho for hot l baltimore and see what i can dig up ...sorry again about the mistake!!

  • @bettypro

Lotsa Luck I got the minute it was available....A truly funny funny show ahead of it's time.

Hot L Baltimore will be a tough find...and was also way ahead of it's time.

    Thanks

  • I've been looking for this for a while and still reemembered the song! I watched this when I was a kid back in the 70's it was a funny show I dont know why it was canceled.

Maybe with Doms (rip) recent death it will pop up again.

  • Thanks for posting this, I remember this show and I rented it from Netflix last year. YES, it was hilarious...couldn't believe it only lasted a season. RIP, DOM...I love ya, you brought me LOTS of laughs :))))
