  • thank you for this i have wanted to play clarinet now for a while and this will give me a head start

  • what is O.K.O ? WHAT IS K ?

  • I play the Clarinet and that didn't help at all and that professor dude should go to jail telling off children or teens like that

  • you did not tell us how to play a low d all you said is you are going to have to play one can you show us how to play a low d please.

  • That is so cool that you are taking the time to show your video.

  • THX!

  • fuck u

  • Thanks~

  • is there anything to help with the notes above the staff like d-g? also can a clarinet go higher then a g above the staff?

  • I really don't mean to criticize, but the "D-flat" you mention is actually a D-sharp. Hope this helps :)

  • haha fingering chart

  • Why am I watching a Clarinet video if I only play flute and alto sax?

  • @MrSofetch12 i know i play percussion

  • i just started playing i dont no how to make it sound like that

  • Quantumlord 18, This is not a spelling bee:) As far as children, i can only hope that it was children and not adults saying some nasty comments, Are you that board, that you have time to edit music professionals comments:) At this point i see some nasty comments night have been removed:)

  • Trying to learn clarinet and i find these lessons useful. Her lessons are accurate, I know this cause I bought a DVD that showed the same thing. What's wrong with her sitting down? I've seen people play clarinet sitting down. So she's not a supper model but is that what these lessons are about?

All you kids posting rude comments should get your mama to do a video so we can comment on the fat she got from having you. I bet she's a supper model.

  • Expert Village type of lessons:

    1 Lesson-"hi, my name..." 2Lesson- "...is..." 3Lesson-"...Goodbye"

  • It would be nice if you would show us the keys first before you refer to them

  • the B natural, should ALWAYS be played with the alternate fingering...

  • this is repulsive.

  • what are the notes for the d major scale for clarinets?

  • :(|). *_*.

  • The altissimo D (D''') I can't even play 'pure' and I play for 5 years already....

  • what about taking a look at her nude pics? Go to: lipsydipsy(dot)com/Marina

  • Thank you for the demonstration.

  • Wow i didnt no that about the f# an stuff

  • i h8 how shes like so your gonna finger... stop saying figering nd finger nd finger it like this

  • I hate this woman

  • I have watched many of these so called Experts in Expert Village try to explain basic musical instrumentation. Leslie's instructions are actually well done and informative. She actually can play the instrument she is teaching! "WOW" PLEASE make more videos Leslie!!!!

  • Thanks a lot, i will use this in my tunes

  • By the way, this is free instruction - no one says you have to watch or listen. It is good of her to offer free information here.

  • Rudeness and disrepect have permeated our society - movies, TV shows, pop music etc.

  • she reminds me of Phyllis Lapin-Vance

  • lmao.. i totally i agree with that

  • thanks for share~~

  • How can you tell if you are better if she makes INSTRUCTIONAL BASIC VIDEOS? Don't judge a book by it's cover.

  • I am playing the clarinet for the first time and i am going into 8th grade an i only have the summer to learn how. HELP! HELP!

  • Before anyone starts saying anything good about this video they should educate themselves by learning how we do it here in europe.. Americanized clarinet playing... Ugh.. its so wrong...

  • it is right!!! better than europe

  • They don't use fingering charts in Europe? Or alternate fingerings? There is nothing wonderful nor terrible about this video.

And just what is "Americanized" clarinet playing and how is it different? Are you talking about fingering technique? Tone production? Or what? Or do you just hate American musicians in general? Please explain.

  • I've been playing for 5 1/2 years and I completely forgot about (or just never knew) the alternate F#. These videos are great for beginners or just as a little refresher every now and then.

Losers posting all the critical (and, frankly, rude and messed up) comments should post their own videos if they think these are so terrible. Good luck with that, guys.

  • Im starting clarinet for my school instrumental programe!! I can't wait! Any advice from anyone?

  • trust me the clarinet is AWESOME i love it but... i like the bassoon betterand im switching over to it in another year but i will still play my clarinet too cuz its awesome

    PS be my friend

  • Hey i play sax in various bands and stuff im pretty good and i use the alternate f # more than regular fingerings for f # so im just saying its not that uncommon and im doubling on a shitty clarinet but will probably buy a e11 sometime

  • Hey...i just got my clarinet and it was a hand me down from my mom should i keep it?by the way im 10!!!

  • it depends on how well it sounds how old it looks and like tht try having a shop look at it tht works with thm and fixes thm

  • fatty....but she helps ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS KIDS LOLOLOL so dont think u r better than u really are because u think u are good but cannot even play a 2nd C above the staff.

  • Hi, I am a Music Professor, it is very nice what you are doing, and i found your lesson very helpful, and i am not impressed with these inconsiderate disrespectful children that posted nasty comments on your page. I would like to see these pee brains post an informative video like you have. There parents should fill there clarinets with soap. You kids have a lot to learn about musicianship!

  • To Professorkatzmusic: I totally agree with you children these days have no respect for teachers anymore.

  • @ musicmaniacs1113 & professorkatzmusic:

ive been in the band at my school for 6 years now and i agree that some kids are rude and a great majority of the kids don't really care about the music they are playing. however, i also know a lot of kids who are interested in becoming better musicians and are respectful to and are inspired by our instructors. i don't like the "kids these days" stereotype because it puts all children in a negative light and is unfair for those of us who truly do care.

  • to FreddyBear4u2hav

sorry I did not mean to phrase it like that. I meant to the kids that are commenting so rudely

  • It it not that the kids today are "worse" it is that schools no longer have the power to make them behave. Teachers used to have better control over the classrooms, and that is fact, not fiction.

  • @PROFESSORKATZMUSIC

I would post if I had the right equipment for it...

And if I were YOU.. I would most definitely find a different clarinet teacher other this so-called one, to teach my students and such, etc.

  • @PROFESSORKATZMUSIC

Excuse me, Mr. big-time Professor, Before you presume to go giving advice, in a very patronizing way to " kids " vis-a-vis musicianship, perhaps you yourself should learn to distinguish the difference between : THEIR ( the possessive form of: they ) and : THERE ( ordinarily an adverb or an expletive ).

It is also presumptuous and ridiculous to assume you are addressing " kids ".

  • @PROFESSORKATZMUSIC suk dick bitch

  • @PROFESSORKATZMUSIC I believe you mean "their", Mr.Pretentious.

  • @PROFESSORKATZMUSIC is obviously a kid posing as a music professor. example: "pee brains" XD.

  • dude, you guys just think shes not good she'd probably kick you asses,Franklin High (i'm going there next year!) in Franklin NC is ranked in the top ten for NC bands

  • I don't thinks she's good, and I know I'm better than her. Her tone is crap

  • Thanks for the lesson on alternate fingerings. You are a good teacher. Every little bit of information helps.

  • iam 11 and i cane pwne her in the clarinet

  • hey I have been playing for about 7years and I think that you are not that bad and I understand you are just explaining so don't listen to all these assholes that are probablly in middle school just ignore them they probably can't even make a sound and to all of you calling her names and saying she sucks why don't you try to make a video to explain it then so we can all make fun of you

  • i am good at fingering. they all love it.

  • Yeah... My Band teacher helps me. But im 11, and im soooo better than you!

    \]

  • i am 10 an i play better then you. faty

  • why dont yu just play a whole note instead of so many back-and-forth notes because then its hard to tell how the actual note should sound.

ive been playing for 4 and a half years

  • Ive been playing Clarinet for 9 years ....and you really dont help at all !! im sorry but it dont sound sloppy when you do it right and you really dont have any clue what your doing so you should delete this as soon as possible b/c your making other people sound bad!

  • fingering eew

  • this is my second year in clarinet and so far i can only play.. B Flat, A, G, F, E, D, C THAT'S it. but im good and i do 4 beats, half, quarter and eighths... (THIS VID DID NOT HELP AT ALL) i strongly suggest you delete it.

  • omg wat is it with u expert village people!!, expert my ass! all ur videos have at least 2 things ur doing wrong!

  • Are you even a human?

You don't even specify what KIND of method book you are referring to. What if I had NOOO idea in the whole wide world what kind of book you were using, huh?

No, you are NOT a true clarinetist if you don't know the real range a clarinet can go. "Almost an octave above the staff"? BS!! My gawd, you're dumb.

and why do you insist finishing your sentences while your cheap clarinet is halfway in your piehole?

  • I honestly have always loved the clarinet's sound. This is my 5th year playing trumpet, I took a year of french horn, it was okay, I play piano, and I play guitar. How cheap could I find a good clarinet for? Just wondering.

  • intermediate clarinets can be bought for as low as $1000 and below, if you can get good deals on them.

  • non of ur crap works i cant even make a sound moron

  • omg this is so stupid i cant play ythe high nothes after the a and the a+register i suck so bad i just messed up my chair test today and i probaly got 3rd chair out of 5 i suck so bad and i started 1 month ago aand i can only play c,e,d,f,g,a,and i think its bflat and luike f sharp and other stupid easy notes i suk!

  • if you only started one month ago then your gonna suck ...but youll get better my friend playes 4th chair and shes been playing for 9 years like me and im 1st chair ...so youll get better :]

  • you arent doing anything just staying on a chair your so fat and just sit on your bun

  • i'm in 6th grade beginning band and i play the regular clarinet my reed has a little tiny chipped part of it but it plays fine, but would i need to replace it?

  • yes, you should keep several reeds on hand. They wear out. I change reeds all the time and some sound better than others. I use a 2 1/2

  • always have more than one reed with you. even with the chip if it sounds ok than you could keep playing on it. if the reed sounds bad or makes it hard to play just throw it away and get a new one.

  • now i got the hang of it !@

  • how do u produck the sound i have got the fingering and stuff but when ever i blow in it

it makes not even a spwak

  • thats because you have to blow hard!!

  • Is your title long enuogh?

  • do I need ten fingers to play the clarinet?

  • ya lol y u lost a finger?

  • holy crap omg laugh out loud like shit lol omg you need 10 fingers! of course u do omg lol wow no i need at least ten fingers to play sax but i have like...................11 lol omg what did you fucking do try to commit suicide lol lolo lololol ololo lol

  • i have played clarinet 4yrs now and i have never been told that i can have lazy posture and can rest on table while i play. i think if ur gonna teach begginers like urself how to play at least do it properly

  • @sweetchilli94

I 1000% agree with you man!! I have been playing for 3 years now, too (with extremely STRICT lessons, now I am in college [just started]) and you CANNOT sit without the correct breath support by resting a chubby arm on the table and slouch!! She is fat and lazy and gives us all TRUE clarinetists a bad name, gives us woodwinds a bad name!

  • TELL ME HOW YOU CHANGE A REED!

  • lol...take off the ligature then take the reed off, but a new reed on, put the ligature back on

  • you unscrew the ligature and take the ligature off and then take the reed off and then...there you go ask me if you have anymore questions :)

  • I played clarinet for 2 years and im good at it

  • so i'm i

  • Some clarinet fingerings are the same for a sax, that's why most clarinet players tend to also play sax.

  • Hello, thx for your videos . is there a clarinette using the same fingering of a saxophone ?

is the fingering different between a bflat clar inette and an a clarinette ? or even a bass clarinette ? ty

  • ok, clarinet's a different instrument with different fingering than a sax; "clarinet" could refer to any of the dozen or so instruments in the clarinet family, while "b-flat clarinet" could refer to any clarinets naturally tuned to b-flat; all clarinets in b-flat have the same fingerings; however, "b-flat clarinet" or simply "clarinet" normally refers to the b-flat soprano clarinet; the bass clarinet is tuned to b-flat and has the same fingerings as the soprano

  • I can't seem to find many video that slow down a little more so I can see what their pressing. I'm new at this. I'm use to playing the violin.

  • If you're trying to teach people to play...why are you showing them bad habits like resting your arm on something and bad posture?

  • have you ever seen a real clarinetist resting his/her arm on a table while performing? NEVER!

what i most hate from this lady is her left arm resting on the table in every video.

this person and the bold guy of expert village are a disgrace for the clarinetists.

  • Keep on! You´re on a pretty good road!

    -Stefan

  • youre great!
