  • sounds oddly like Sienfeld

  • In my opinion, PG's tone with the laneys on GOOMY fucking rocked.

  • you go nuts in a scale? YOU FUCKING INCINERATE THE GUITAR!!!

  • People. What pickups are in this guitar? If anyone knows for definite, I would greatly appreciate it!

(My guess is Air Classics, but that's just a guess based on his recent choices).

  • @YummyBananaFish They could be Air Classics, but a PAF-PRO could have been in the guitar too.

  • @YummyBananaFish PAF-Pro. Obliviateable had it right. PG has been using PAF-Pro's since the late 80's in most of his PGMs. This is a custom PGM900 series, with only two pickups and no Floyd. He only recently began using the DiMarzio Air Classic series in his PGM401 (Brown Sunburst finish) and his Fireman FRM2 (Two Humbucker, Clear finish Cherry Top). Not to be confused with his FRM1 and his new Production line PGFRM, which features DiMarzio Area '67 single coil pups. Cheers :)

  • @shreddybits PGM300, not 900, sorry. 900 is his Talman :X - I made a stupid.

I know alot about PG's guitars/equipment, he fascinates me to no end. It gets a bit confusing after awhile though lol.

  • @shreddybits Cheers shreddybits, but actually this guitar has Tone Zones. Got confirmation from Paul himself. I know a lot about his guitars/equipment too, I might add, but it's nice to be in good company ;D

  • @YummyBananaFish Ahh. I thought they may've been Tone Zones, but I wasn't sure. The neck looks a bit more like a 900 than the 700 (The production model with Tone Zones, but I'm not 100% on that). Guess I was wrong :P Cool man, cheers!

  • @shreddybits I think it's just a one-off, rather than being based on a production model. Either way, this is one of my favourite guitars of his! Looks classy and sounds smooth, tis nice.

  • @shreddybits

I love the tonezone. I have one in my bridge. Is he using tone zones in the bridge and neck together?

  • @trinoply More than likely, however if there's a denomination between the pickups, like a model voiced specifically for the neck, then he's likely using that, otherwise, they're the same pickups.

  • @shreddybits

Yeah, the TZs have a bridge and neck version.

I was thinking about throwing an air zone in my neck though because it has a softer clean than the tone neck does.

  • @trinoply Go for it man. Personally, not a fan of the Tone Zone, the Air Norton (BUCKETHEAD!!!!!) sound much better imho, and the guitars I've played that have them just feel so right.

  • @shreddybits

I love both though because even though they're cleaner sounding pickups than the other crazy pickups dimarzio decides to make, the tonezones and air zones still have some of the hottest pickups out there. I want kind of a gemmy jazz sound, and those air zones will be able to give me that neck full roundedness, then the TZs give me like that PG staccato twang if i'm playing leads.

  • @trinoply Yeah, I get you. Personally I find the Air Norton's give you alot of tonal variation, esp. With lead playing. Tone and volume control with them gives you alot of expressive power. Have you considered maybe using Steve Vai's Evolution pickups?

  • @shreddybits

Yeah, i've been thinking about the Evos, I had the choice between them and the TZs, but I dunno, I think if I get a guitar more suited all around for shred, i'd throw them in.

  • what kind of PGM does he played?

  • @dali246987 he pretty much only uses the fireman now, the whole of Fuzz Universe was recorded using one

  • @Socky42 hm....he using fireman alot now....but i just curious bout what kind of PGM he used for this video...^^

  • Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani are the greatest

  • One of the most underrated guitarists of all time, and people have the fucking NERVE to say that John Fruiscante is the best guitarist of the past 30 years lol

  • @MindstormRecs lol, what dipshit said that, and where?

  • @Panasper Lol go to any Fruiscante guitar video and you'll see it's like this crazy fucking conspiracy worship thing going on just because two magazines said he was something special. I could name atleast 20 guitarists off the top of my head that would run circles around him in their sleep. Gilbert could do it in a coma lol

  • damnit i want my clean sound to sound like a bass too.....what tone in that set up!

  • I think Paul most have the most clean and effective technique among all these virtuosos. It's even nice to look at, for all you dickheads im not saying hes better. "DERP YNGWIE IS SO MUCH FASTER, I DNT CARE IF HE ARROGANT, SPEED IS EVRYTHIN."

  • he's got the groove, I think he beats most guitarists in personality at least, there's alot of good guitarists, but I've seen some really mean ones ...to their fans....

  • oh shit! O_O

  • I'm cursed, I can't play the part 0:36 'cause I'm small and my fingers don't get from 10-17, saddly it's my favorite song of Gilbert T_T

  • keep stretching your fingers and you'll eventually get it.

    : )

  • @Vilvago or find a way around it! play it differently. maybe u can find the same notes on a different string or sumthin

  • @Vilvago Jus tap it. The tapped tabs are (All on E)

    ---14---10---14--10--8--10--14--

You play the riff ^ twice, then on the thrid and 4th, replace the 14 with 15 and repeat the riff with the 15

Then you do the same riff again tapping 17. and you do that twice, ending with a big bend on 17. Tell me if it helps you play it.

  • "because any time you bend its cool." amen.

  • 4:53

I Love this sound... Paul Gilbert rocks *-*

  • i swear, he's stretched his fingers so much theyr'e the same length! XD

I've always loved this song, great beat!

  • with paul gilbert I don´t need a teacher.

I learned it all directly from the man himself and now it´s up to me to put as much effort into it as necessary to become a beast like he is

  • Exactly :)

  • jeah - i see you & alot of newbies feel that way, Don't get me wrong Paul is incredible!

but you can't learn Guiatr just by watching him.

he'll play pentotonics & it seems easy But hell play them at Lightning speed. hard to learn to play that fast, you cant "learn it" you have to Grow into it to increase speed. theres already alot of Shredders out there now wanting to be the "fastest"

  • @MetalHeart8787

of course you have to practise your ass of to get that good :)

that´s what I do all the time, and getting musical inspiration from everywhere I go.

But what I intended to say was, that Gilbert can show you a good technique on wich you can build your playing.

I´ve been playing for 2 years now ;)

  • well yes & No.

true paul can show us alot hes Great

you can also Build your playing on by simple chords or just Jammin.

    ive been playing since sep/20/1991

  • That stretch makes my poor fingers weep. T_T <-- Like that.

  • He is so happy explaining how to play his music and all his tricky music phrases. It's amazing. GO PAUL !!!! ))

  • Ye, he's not like others just playing thru the material. He's like 'Oh lemme show you this!'. Paul iz teh winz :)

  • 'in context, somthing like this...'

    then my face melted.

  • he is the shred master

  • I love his bassy sound in 1:27!!! :) Go Paul...

  • i love moonbase and

nanoneucleonic cyborg summoning and of course PG !!!!

  • Does anyone know where can I find this DVD

  • eBaaaaaaaaaayyy!!!!!!!!!

  • I bought one from ebay and it looks counterfeit possibly

the bottom is purple but the label does say promotional?

idk, best to get it from amazon or something

  • your best bet is at guitar center or georges music.

  • Your best bet is Amazon, it's quick and easy, that's where I bought mine.

  • "cuz every time you bend its cool" hahaha gilbert is the best

  • thats some really good advice

  • Im so happy I have marfans

It makes this SO much easier

Although I wont learn the song

    just a shitload of scales

    (Y)

  • God, it's so hard to stretch fingers the way h does it.

I feel I should been having aliens fingers, I have so short... Oo I like this song alot and the titlename is funny!

  • omg

  • It'll make your playing funky :)2:23

  • holy shit... that was so funny, i was just waiting for it the whole time

  • no clue how to play it but fun to watch lol

  • i love how he can play fast but can also slow down a little so you can understand what he's playing. I like other players like ynwgie, mab, rusty cooley but paul is the best!

  • umm. hes alot better than me....

  • ok...I still don't know how to play it, but it's ok hahaha =]

  • I love how he always jumps into the chair.

Kinda reminds me of Kramer from Seinfeld.

  • really? reminds me of Dane Cook.

  • heh "it'll make your playing funky"

  • "any time you bend is cool"

    gatta love it

  • he makes it look like a drink of water

  • Man I want that guitar....!!!

  • does anyone know how long he has been playing? like gotta be more than 20 years?

  • 25/26 years or so.

  • alright thanx, cus i hate when ppl are like.. ok just do this simple lick., but first lets light our hands on fire, they do it so dam fast and it makes ppl like me feel bad for not being that good. and they say its eazy

  • I find that Paul's tuition DVD's re the best, he is an amazing teacher, and he can explain stuff really well, I have a bunch of tuition videos from Yngwie, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, Michael Romeo, and a few others, and Paul's are the best, I have learnt more from his ones than any other videos that I have, Yngwie's are the worst, he doesn't explain very well at all, he just plays the licks fast, and expects you to be able to play it just like that!!!

  • Yes I agree with you! PG has the best lessons & Yngwie the worst by miles. Yngwie plays the lick 3 or 4 times and then bust out into a song and leaves your jaw on the floor. But thats Yngwie. Would of been good 2 see him play the other part of Viking Kong.

  • oh. don't be frustrated by that. every person has its learning rhythm, i think. getting to play fast is more a matter of pure dedication to the instrument and music itself rather than sheer training. and to agree with the next comment by lespaulzrule, i think the main factor Paul introduces in video tutoring is the fun. having seen other ones as well, Paul Gilbert is a very fun-oriented and didactic person. that reflects itself on his music.

  • "...'Cause any time you bend is cool!"

  • ....or playing with your funking heart :)

  • I agree!

  • Man, the main riff is a PERFECT example of playing with your fucking heart. 100% feeling man, love it.

  • Cool! Thank you for sharing this one

    Lai

  • this guy is the best!

  • ...:o main riff is fun to play the solo's...forget about it
