  • That was wonderfully animated, cgi not so great though.

  • Thats nice dude :), the plant was really nice though, probibly my favirot.

  • where is shadows?

  • Good Job! keep it up xxx

  • Now this is what I want to make! Really nice! Needs a little shadow. Can you do shadow in blender?

  • compositing? Nah never heard of it...

  • awesome

  • amazing/zajebiste

  • hardcore

very complicated to do 5 starz

  • Holy shit!! It's rengo!

  • Check my channel for a face animation and modelled created in a professional way...that means; not made out of a cube but out multanimationiple planes. Please rate and subscribe!

  • @Insideviewanimator no one gives a shit kid

  • GJ

  • the bug should have jumped on the tongue and kicked the chameleons ass

  • very good

  • Very nice, how long did it take you to get to this point?

  • @ImWearingSandals im a blender animator too so just by thinking its probably around 10 to 15 hours of work

that is including the modeling and texturing and the enviorment texturing and also the time to do the animation

    on the characters too.

  • How do u do the focus and depth of field work in blender?

  • you should redo the render, the animation deserves a better look, the animation is about perfect for sure. the animation is very real, yes... but render could use improvement.

  • OpenSUSE wins :D

    Congrats!

  • Nice!!!

  • Animation: 10/10

    Soundtrack: 10/10

    Plot: 0/10

    ;-)

    Good Job!

  • 13 jealous haters :)

  • No, the amount of time for learning it all depends on the person learning. janczar how long were you learning blender before you made this?

  • Good work. I love the focus on the action point with background blurred. I only see one video you have on here. I hope you will create more in the future.

  • HOLY SHIZZLE NIPPLE!

  • @IXICJIXI Lmfao, you made my day hahaha

  • Tomaszu Janczarski, lpiej bym tego nie zrobił :) pozdrawiam

  • wow that's fucking accurate. everybody's already said that but it needs to be said again. holy fuck. very realistic movement.

  • Visit my 11 min, HD Shortmovie. Completely made in Blender. Hope you like it !!

    Here the Link: watch?v=4uAy8UDK1dE

  • Awesome. Well done. Its so unlike most 3d animations. I really felt like I was watching a nature documentary.

  • Wow! you made this alone???

  • I learned Cinema4D and Max some 10 years ago. How long have i been sleeping. Blender?

  • @dactnl I first saw blender at siggraph 2000 in New Orleans. It has come a loooooooooonnnnnnnnggggg way. Its different than other 3d stuff I've used, but there are a ton of tuts around. Just pick a project and do it.

  • 0:10 Fake plastic tree,Radiohead

  • 3d animation programs are so much expensive. I tried to learn this program but it's not as easy as other commercial softwares I know.

  • @reygood1 You kidding right. They are all huge and complicated. It all comes down to what you learn and use.

  • it's too borring, too real

  • I really like the way you gave weight to your chameleon by making the branches react to his moves, it makes all the difference.

  • Its really too good. Animation should do what cameras can not.

  • Well done lad! ..But where's the story, moral

and magic that gives the viewer a reason to

spend 1:51 minutes of his life?

  • Well done! Beautiful work.. Good use of DOF. If I could make a suggestion though, I would raise the F-Stop on your DOF node just a little, to much DOF can start blurring the things people actually want to see.

  • can I get a cameleon for my PC?

  • wat blander for anyway

  • really awesome eh, good use of DOF, Ill have to try that.

  • excelent!!!!

  • You've got some talent. I'd like to see you use a professional grade program. Then, you'd be unstoppable!!

  • @EmperorProductions Define 'professional?' You checked out the blender gallery and 'what elephants dream'?

I think the reason people think that other programs will produce better results is that they are more the industry standard, so people see a short, made by someon in their spare time, then compare that to a multi million dollar budget dreamworks picture created by a team of experts working round the clock for months. I reckon that same team could achieve the same result on blender..

  • @MrMargaretScratcher months? try years.

  • COOL!

  • COOL!

  • WOW Nice animation!!!

  • Okay, this has something to do with debug... Every time I open my project, I have to move a cube, save then whatever I click it says theres a debugger error 32 please help! this happens every 10 seconds whenever I do anything in my project!

  • wow great work...................

  • Wow. I am struck dumb at your mastery of animation. The movements where almost perfect and and camera work was masterful.

  • this is really good, how would you like to be part of my film company by doing cgi work

  • Very nice.

    Simply and genius.

You have a talent. Do you have an other animations?

  • I love the cinematics and the attention you have towards the most subtle moves!

  • Depth of Field, dynamic lights(?), specualr map (?), DX11 tessellation(???).

  • Take that piece of shit bug. Lol

  • Nice Video, nice DoF, but couldn't you add a slowmo of the tounge? I have Ref. Vids in 210 fps, if you're interested, let me know

  • How long did it take for you to make this? I love chameleons. My brother used to have one. Awesome to just stare at them.

  • Fantastic animation!

  • WTF? THIS IS YOUR FIRST ANIMATION?

  • did u only use blender for the whole video?

  • Klasnaja rabota ;D Thumbs up (y)

  • UFFFFFF esta super genial

  • Wow great skills, keep on going and I hope to see more of this quality projects!

  • <<--@austinartwar I have some kick butt blender models to make tutorials for. See the models and vote up the ones that should have a tutorial. Or maybe subscribe so when I do get one you will know.

  • Good luck!

  • 3 words:

    Beast

    Almost perfect

  • perfect! :-)

  • TOMEK świetna robota:)

Aha i Sergey ty też wykonałeś świetna robote:D

  • how did you created the dept of field?

  • congratulations ! verry nice video !!clap clap clap !

  • is DAZ 3 and Carrara more complex than Blender

  • I'm gonna download this for Mac, but which do I download the Intel or PowerPC version? Thank you advance.

  • Do you have a MacBook (Intel) or a iBook (PPC)?

  • HI Everyone, I started big project a few weeks ago. I am making movie in Blender, I am recruiting a TEAM now. If you want to Join the team, just write me, Everyone can join how wants to work on my film and has some knowledge with Blender and will be able to work permanently on this Project

It is not gonna be animated type of movie like big buck Bunnie or elephants dream. I want to make it looking realistic. JOIN NOW!!

    thanks

  • @Lukass12 i think i could enter the team :D

  • I need to figure out how to work blender! I have it, but have no clue what to do with it!

  • yea, because i started out like that too, but i watched some tutorials and now its a blast

  • @GoofyMutt12 hey, look up super3boy in the search here on youtube, he's done a series of videos on how to use blender. I haven't completely finished it myself, but learning how to use the program in the first place has boosted my learning of the program...

  • Is blender a texturing software or an actually 3d animation sotware like maya and 3d max?

  • @astgraphicnovel Its an actual full 3d animation/modelluing software with compositing and the ability to add sound and create interactive 3d content.

  • wow coolllllllllllllllll. How much is it for? Can you get a 6 month download trail from their website?

  • It is open source software and is completely free.

  • @astgraphicnovel its free

  • wait, by "interactive 3d content" does that mean like a 3d game or something? cause that'd be cool.

  • yea, you can make blender games

  • is blender more complex than DAZ 3and Carrara 7?

  • @1lilianaalmanza Yes... way more complicated in it's own way but having had used Carrara, it also has far more capabilities. It's really just a matter of getting used to relying on keyboard/mouse combos since you cannot do everything with a mouse click - a lot of the functions are done through the keyboard with little to no menu supported equivalents. There is a ton of information though.

  • Both

  • actuall 3d animation modeling just like maya but free!

  • I need someone to help me figure out how to work the dam thing(blender)

    Its confusing!!!!!

  • look up the tutorial "making a vase in blender" it should give you a kick start

  • whats Debug?

  • That was really good. I loved the amount of detail on the chameleon's skin!

  • Goodness, the movement of the cham is done EXTREMELY well! I've bred chameleons for years and I can say it's uncanny. However, the tongue isn't good, it needs to drop down before being drawn back into the mouth. The speed is only up to the point of hitting the insect. Just fyi. Amazing job tho.

  • I breed chameleons as well. The tongue is lacking realism because i was limited by deadline and could not spend more time on it.

  • Great Job!

  • lol i thought i was good with blender. now i know im the worst piece of shit :F

  • Oh im sure its not that bad...

  • bravo!

  • That cant be your first animation :)

    to amazing!

  • yes impossible. it s really too amazing.

  • probably the first he put out on youtube... ;)

  • @Demon6175

I Agree!!!!! But really awesome........ Thumbs UPPPPPP :-)

  • how do you make it focus in and out on blender? I have been looking every where for the answer

  • It's part of the node system, and it's ridiculously complicated. I think 2.5 will have a better one, but if you want to try it now, you have to enable output nodes, and use the Defocus node along with some settings in the edit tab with the camera, to define the focal point.

  • I've been Blending for almost 10years and i think this is one of the coolest uses of blender that i have seen , very cool keep up the good work.

  • That was awesome. But no twist! Hmmm... maybe that's what the twist was? haha

But now you've made this, maybe you can make another one in which something unpredictable happens. The bug could break out of his mouth and do some kung fu on him - tough guy! Or the chameleon could get flipped into the air because of too much weight on the stem?

  • @deepfriedewok You must love nature documentaries...

  • It looks like that short show they used to play on Nickelodeon :D

  • wow

    good job

  • THAT WAS AWSOME

  • Bravo ! C'est excellent !!!

  • damn that's good...and your first one! great job.

  • your FIRST?!

  • i need soeone to teach me how to use this software so bad

  • yeah, I know, I cant figure out how to do anything.

  • i just hate how you move the camera i want something like sketchup controls

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • everything is awesome ... but a few patches of finishing touches are left like the scales on leaves etc.

    but overall gr8 work!!!

    gratz!!

  • Wooooo It's really a very good work. Congratulations!!!

  • wooooooooooooooow , Your Are Great

  • needs "tongue time" :P

  • Wow! This is really good animation! How long it took to render?

  • really good animation!

  • lol, "for blender"? blender has just as much power (if not more) than other 3d programs that you pay for...it's just difficult to learn, but still one of the most powerful tools out there (so long as you know how to use it)

  • @Nazereth1 its underpowered compared to any autodesk program like maya or 3dsmax, but its free and has loads of features.

  • Clearly this took a lot of good work.. Nice job! You've got the camera focus thing down packed which makes it look all that much more professional.. Personal opinion: you should've made the tongue part more epic somhow.. Maybe at a unique angle in slow mo with epic music in the background. But that's just my opinion and me overusing the term epic. again nice job~

  • amazing for a first time

  • You used plugin? three effect?

My name is Dérek. Living in Brazil, my inglish is trash. No understand. Voce usou algum plugin efeito árvore, ou modelou?

  • I'm new at blender and I'm haveing a hard time with the tutoreals but I think I'm getting the hang of some of it ^_^ but I can use some tips O.O

  • nice!

  • Is the Background a photo?Or the blurred-effect?

    Cool video 5 Stars.

  • Very effective!

  • As for your first 3D animation you are killer then. I mean, wow, it was really great, the chameleon creature was animated perfectly, BRAVO! how long did you work on this animation?

  • About three months - i was limited by deadline since this animation was an university project (computer graphics at computer science) so many details are not finished as I wanted.

  • thanx for the info on the blurr effect. it was really helpful.

  • was the whole video produced in blender?

  • yes

  • was the plant made in blender or was the plant part of the background,

I'm trying to make an animation but i need it to be very realistic.

  • plant is 3d model made in blender

  • great animation. one question though, how do you blur or cause the background imagery to be out of focus?

  • There is 2 ways to do that. The fastest way is actually use a plain as background and texture it with a "out off focus picture" or just a picture that has been blured in GIMP. The other one is in note editting. Think there is some tutorials somewhere the internet about that one

  • Background image is blured in GIMP :) On the other hand node editing is used through entire movie to get depth of field effect on first plan objects.

  • Doh just noticed that I actually never commented your vid :P

ok here we go. its really beautiful piece of work and really like the part that the twik? tweak? dont what it called "the tree part" where the chameleon moves forward is actually moving because of the wheight of the chameleon and when it gets the bug. its even better. Thats the small detail of that type of animation that sells it. great work :)

  • Fajna sprawa!Szacun!

  • Great animation!

  • Amazing. I'm learning blender too but I'm a way off anything this good. I love the use of focus.

    Great work.

  • awesome, how long did this take? (just curious since I'm teaching myself Blender right now)

  • Really nice! I liked the staging but then the climax was too fast, I think it would have payed off more in slow motion and from several camera angles like close up on the chameleon, one on the bug and maybe a bug's eye view of the tongue coming at him, and maybe a little scream sound :)

  • *agrees with casualdave*

Personally, I was expecting some stop time action :P

  • Yeah, that would be cool, like the matrix, have the camera swing around and close on that poor stupid bug, and all he'd have to do is just add cameras, then it could be an award winner,I thought the movements were programmed almost perfectly I love when chameleons get the bug and it's half hanging out of their mouth and they just chomp it down :)

  • Great job

  • that was really good man, but come on, if your going to spend that long on a video, make it funny.

    but still, great job :D

  • Speechless. Very good.

  • Congratulations. I really like your work. Good camera work and sound. Short and nice animation, keep up the good work. I think the texturing is fine, I see it as keeping a certain feel to the animation.

  • nice.

  • awesome. Great job.!

  • Świetne! Naprawdę dobra robota.

  • good job but u shouldve spent more time on the textures

  • AWESOME!!! I LOVE IT!

  • 5* .

  • Super cool. One little crit, his eyes. I think maybe there should be no x axis rotation, only y and z axis. Would be cool if his eyelids were conected to his head, but it would be a nightmare to model and weight paint there.

Excelent work though, you're way ahead of me.

  • those animals can see that way with their eyes..

  • This is one of the best I have seen. Very good job I am soooo jealous.

  • i have a few questions, can u make a super big areas in blender ? cuz im thinkin about learning how to use it. also, can u use the HDR effect ? and, how long did u learnt to do such animation ?

  • This is my first animation with Blender. I learned while making it :). I do not know anything about HDR. Super big areas are not a good idea - render time will too long (with good antyalias every frame is rendered 16 times)

  • DOOD! You first Blender's animation!? Wow. I'm learning this software, it's pretty cool.

  • No words. 5/5!

  • reaaly coool animation. Very realistic. Can you point out quickly how you access depth of field in blender?

  • There is "DOF" node in post-processing with Nodes Editor (Filters/Defocus). With two focus plans this is much more complicated, however.
