  • America needs to stop being the police/peacekeeping country. The Europeans that lumped warring tribes, ethnicities, and religions of people into the same country in the 1800s should take responsibility for there actions and make sure that African Genocide stops. Also, China is a large antagonist in this conflict, providing the Sudanese government with guns helicopters, etc. because they buy the majority of the Sudanese oil. Get those countries to help Darfur, instead of the Us or UN doingitall

  • Nobody's going to send peacekeeping troops unless we do.

  • 2:50 haha hes talkin bout africa and he looks an ape

  • When Americans invovle themselves in any issue, expect the disasterous results. We say to them just stop playing this filthy doubled-standard game on us. the world is no longer believe in you or your democracy, go and pracitice this JUSTICE in Iraq, Gaza(Palestine), Afaghnistan and even hey you white racists go and do it with the Black Afro-American who are still suffering fron slavery in prisons and devastation in Southern states. Time is over just fuck off and leave Sudanese alone,Go to hell.

  • With great power, comes great responsibilites

  • Absolutely - we need to use our power responsibly instead of adventuring in the Sudan.

  • Naive! The reason why America get into this issue is that there are so much oil in Sudan.......When Rwanda have got hundreds and thousands people merdered. Where are you Americans? The only thing that can make American focus on is the natural rescourse. such as oil.............

  • man Wranda was terrible BUT is past HOW about congo NOW over 5 Million yes right 5 Million people murdered n counting all so the internasional elite can keep on robbing their country while the congolese are dying from starvation bush n his neocons have even kept it out of the news

NOW this is what i call justice wake up americans see what they are doing in your name

  • I see, so we need troops in an oil-rich nation that has never threatened us..but we need to leave Iraq?

  • There's oil in South Sudan. That's why China has been blocking efforts at the United Nations. There're in a conflict of interest because they buy so much oil from Sudan. That's why Mia Farrow et al is leveraging the Beijing Olympics to get the Chinese to act on Darfur.

  • Absolutely right ! There is OIL in Sudan

=>China is getting it from Sudan's dictatorship, reason why they are blocking the United Nations as much as the can from interfering in this genocide.

  • See how the corporate media marginalizes Gravel and Kucinich?

  • actually there is oil in Sudan thats one of the reasons the conflict started

  • A perfect 10 out of 10 for that summary. You can see that thought buried in the back of all of their minds up there. When are we going to have hypnosis or some kind of truth serums introduced to these debates? You get your fist conscious answer, then your subconscious answer gets revealed.

Ron Paul or "Crazy" Gravel would be the only ones consistent.

  • Gravel needs more time to speek thats messed up.

  • you got that right

  • @pchcruzer Absolutely He never got a chance!

  • Fighting for peace is screwing for virginity.

  • LOL just because the chinese government made a 1 child cap rule does not excuse china doing -nothing- to help the people in Darfur. What about the parents of all the Americans dying in Iraq? Does the chinese government care? No they just critisize us and kick us while were down. Thats China's duty as a world power, they better start learning how to do it.

  • mia farrow volunteering other people?

african nations have to help each other...those with the resources can't just sit back and do nothing...you are brothers...please help each other

  • The U.N. and Mia Farrow should stop pressuring China to send troops to Darfur. Many of these soldiers are from one-child families due to efforts of the Chinese gov't to curb the growth of its population. Imagine telling people that they can only have one child, and now imagine telling them that, their only child will have to go to Darfur and risk getting killed in order to save the lives of other people. Please show some compassion to the parents of these soldiers.

  • fucking sanctions sanctions....all americans do

  • A few special forces American troops can liase with the UN troops to call in airsupport for the multinational peacekeeping troops when it is needed.

  • Personally,China must pressure Sudan, the UN/African Union peacekeeping troops supported by US logistic support. Also without US airpower backing the UN troops, all the talk of containing Janjaweed is wishful thinking.

  • Diplomacy will get us out of Iraq, diplomacy will make Isreal safe, diplomacy will make Iran give up nuclear weapons, diplomacy will change Hamas into a responsible government, diplomacy will save the children of Darfur...

This is why I switched to the Republicans.

  • Democracy FOR ALL. Democracy cannot be forced. Democracy is fueling the war in Isreal right now.

  • "Democracy is fueling the war in Isreal right now"- democracy means more than just holding one single election and then letting the winners rule unopposed for all eternity (which is what Hamas thinks). Democracy means recognizing the inalienable rights of all their citizens.

  • "Democracy cannot be forced"- Biden brings up a good point. During the Bosnian Genocide, Noam Chomsky and other progressives screamed that NATO intervention would just give the victims a chance for an even bloodier revenge. In reality, the vicitms gave the perpetrations fair and balanced trials and then persued a country-wide

    political reconciliation.

  • I hate Bill Richardson. He reminds me of that fat kid in school that thinks he knows it all and says whatever he thinks people want to hear. And Bill - we cannot be the worlds police anymore. Kucinich or Ron Paul 2008!!!

  • Vote Mike Gravel or Ron Paul in 2008 for America's future and Freedom!

  • I like Richardson the most, he's gotten the most done on this issue. I'm not so sure troops should be stationed, Richardson proved that he can end the genocide if he's president, he brokered a 60 day cease-fire, and if he has more power I think he can end the genocide

  • We need to focus on America right now. We can't fix every other countries problems.

  • damn right.

people see videos of the african chiildren and emotion overtakes them. but in our own country the funds, that some would like to see help sudan, are needed to solve our own problems.

  • I agree with many of here about Joe Biden. I had scarcely heard of him before this debate but after hearing him talk about the issues, he seems to know his stuff and is quite realistic about what he can do.

  • I've been watching a coupple of these videos. Joe Biden seems like the only guy speaking straight out, the other ones run around every question. And yes I know I'm not american, still interested though, have family there etc.

  • Richardson's and Clinton's responses are unacceptable. MORE DIPLOMACY!? This crisis in Darfur has been going on for YEARS despite "diplomacy"!!!!!!!!. It is a big embarrassment. BIDEN is dead on! America should send troops (Biden recommended 2,500). Pull some from Iraq, we should be out of there anyway. What will the Darfur offenders fight back with? - stones, men on horses, machetes? I'm sick of hearing these politicians stating more talking and appealing - USELESS. ACT NOW.

  • "about aids" ehehehhehe

  • this is stupid as hell, shows just how much the Democrats are full of shit! Same reasons they want us to go into Sudan, same reasons we went to Iraq...to help out the people of the land from radical muslims

  • Stop boycotting the UN, friends. Let's find a global solution for the Darfur situation.

Stop trying to be the world's nanny. Thank you.

  • Joe Biden for president! Check out his position on the single most important issue for this next presidency, the irac war! Search this "Joe Biden Rips GOP On Iraq War Resolution"

  • Hillary is full of shit... Biden speaks the truth...semper fi

  • Give me a gun, training, a flight and some body armour and I will go there myself.

  • you don't call human being's refugees dammit.

  • Wow, totally wasn't expecting a Democrat to say send our troops there. Thats like a conservative answer. I've been saying all along thats the only thing we can do to stop the nightmare. He gets points.

  • Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards are all CFR(Council on Foreign Relations)! Don't believe me?!?! Google: "Creating a North American Community" The CFR is a think tank for the North American Union!! Wake up people and don't vote for anyone that is a member! Republicans too!

  • Gravel is the only one that actually says SOMETHING. The rest are filling us with BS.

  • i like gravel too.

  • Biden should be President. Or at least get an academy award. Seriously though, if you want someone with true depth, Biden is your guy.

  • How do we get past the empty promises of Darfur?

    We Act.

We do not stand around posturing, diplomatically talking and allowing the genocide to continue. We don't need another war, but we cannot allow this to go on. The children in that video question are probably already dead.

At least the candidates addressed the subject even if the answers weren't satisfactory.

  • That sounds like a plan, however, what if it turns into another Iraq war situation? That's the problem we face.

  • I agree that we run the risk of creating a new war situation, but we could very easily take more precautions to prevent such an escalation.

Continuing to make promises and guarantees we have no intention of keeping is not the path we should take.

  • The canidates gave you their answers to this question. Those who disagreed with their political positions DIDN'T LIKE their stance, but they did address the issue.

It may not be "yes or no answers", but "yes or no" questions are misleading and unfair when it comes to seriously complicated issues and to responsible thoughtful leadership.

Some comments may have been indirect and you may have had to infer and interpret their views, but to the extent possible, you've gotten your answer.

  • I hate how Clinton talks. "Do you agree Clinton?" "I completely agree *insert the opposite of agree here*"

  • when will they go to Darfur? Why that's easy...as soon as there is oil there and Halliburton and L3 Communications sets up shop...next question? :)

  • lol

  • why should america interfere in darfur! why dont AFRICAN NATION UNITE AND HELP EACH OTHER??/ wtf? are they gonna blame America? especially Bush(kinda racist) if US is not going to help?..i dont get it

  • WTF!? Do you think it was ok for America to interfere with the Nazi's? Are you saying that it was proper for the world community not to interfere with Rwanda? Cambodia?

  • I think Gravel was given unfair time. I am not immpressed with the UTUBE question selection.

  • Why is it ok to send US troops to help Darfur but not keep helping the citizens in Iraq? Watch what happens when we stop helping Iraq you will see the same kind of plea for help but from Iraq refugees.

  • hillary had supported the war in iraq.

  • Interesting responses...perhaps Clinton and Richardson should enroll in International Relations 101, World History 101, and Introductory Economics next semester. Then maybe they can give responses that are grounded in reality and sound principles as opposed to idealistic pap!

  • WHoa! White American's are showing their white hoods now... Let them rot and enslave their own people...

America assisted with the creation of the problem.. and instead of doing what it can.. America doesn't do Schit!

White people.. I am so happy I am not you... because by the time Dafur's situation if fixed.. you will get to experience life as bottomfeeding minorities... and you will suffer for your ancestors acts and failure to act!

  • I meant "carved up and imperialized"

  • hillory screwd up on that last statment, she wants to send other countries to fight, but not send her own? what's up with that?

  • Foreign policy is always difficult to find a solution to, because there are many problems here in America to repair, but at the same time America is the most powerful richest country in the world and it allowed Africa to get craved up and imerialized, yet many spoiled Americans will say- "How come they can't their shit together.." For starters- there's a huge difference

  • What about the people left behind hear? In the USA?

  • I really don't understand why the united states has to be the governing force of the world WHY ARE NO OTHER COUNTRIES going to Darfur??? Why does it have to be OUR TROOPS?

  • It is so frustrating with the indirect/ambiguous responses.

  • Global Government?? sounds like the New World Order to me!

  • i dont think we should send any troops to darfur. the reason is cuz america is still warring with iraq. we cant be sending MORE troops To an unsafe place. if we help them, the death toll of american soldiers could double.

  • darfur? when did they discover oil there?

  • We send tons of support there now and the Negro war lords let it rot in warehouses, I say let these bottom feeders of the world starve there is NO loss here

  • I think a lot of Americans still remember Somalia and how our soldiers were attacked and killed and to add insult to injury, their corpses were dragged through the streets.

  • Show your sources

  • I really wanted to hear what Obama would say about this. I agree that Clinton's answer was bad on this - if she can OK U.S. troops to Iraq, then why can't she O.K. troops to Darfur? They need LAW AND ORDER out there!

  • no fly zone, lol. It's not F16s that are killing in Darfur. Douche.

  • thank god for youtube. at last, i feel like these candidates are answering to ME (for once...)

  • wow, richardson is the only canidate I've ever heard even MENTION the word AIDS....

  • ...or the word genocide.

  • Clinton won't do shit, does anyone remember Rwanda.

  • Darfur needs basic needs met such as water, what's going on with these answers? Look at unicef's website. Of course, Hilary uses her opportunity here to express her bloodlust in attacking other countries.

  • The others received twice as many time as Gravel got.

  • I think we have enough troops on the ground elsewhere. What about the women that get raped in our own cities. What about helping our hungry and homeless. We need to be focused on our OWN COUNTRY.

  • While yes, the world needs help... but PLEASE how about we focus on US?! The united states needs help and to be fixed before other friggin' countries! can we stop ignoring our problems and trying to fix other countries?! You want to help Darfur, go be their leader, not ours.

  • Clinton said it best.

Gravel said some straight up B.S

  • So we should ignore that surrounding nations don't want us in Sudan and we should set up sanctions so that the poorest in Sudan starve?

  • agree with clinton, onu peacekeaping is to only way to resolve the darfour situation and usa got to follow the mr brown and sarkozy resolution about darfour

  • Gravel still dropping knowledge and airing the dems dirty laundry...They cut him off right on time...

  • What a stupid question for CNN to select since all the candiates have already stated how they feel in previous debates.

  • Saddam Hussein was the king of genocide. Yet we're not supposed to be in Iraq. No one else would go. Why Sudan then? Why is it different?

  • Sudan is a BIG problem, If there's going to be a fix China is going to be a big part of it. The US can't go in unilaterally without upsetting China, because they might see it as imperialism, the way forward is China pressuring Sudan to let the UN or Chinese troops in. Another possibility is backing the AU.

  • ok im confused......when the united states gets involved in a political problem of another nation THE PRESIDENT GETS SCREWED OVER.......Iraq...vietnam....korea..but guess what when the country is a superpower or some backward village in africa...its America's DUTY to save the world....meanwhile democratic supporters are constantlty slandering bush and his advisors for invading in foreign affairs.

  • Did the people of Iraq, Vietnam, and Korea ask for the United states to get involved? Did the President speek truth as to why he wanted to go into Iraq????

  • so what would u have rather george bush said? people are saying that the main problem with iraq is that the president wasnt truthful. If george bush told the american people that he would have liked to invade iraq to gain control of the oil supply to keep the local prices as low as possible would that have been a significant reason for answer?

  • The life of 1 person is valued far more then money. The reason Bush went into Iraq was far more then oil. It was an attempt 2 do as Russia tried 2 do, gain a foothold in the Middle East. Bring Companies owned by his favored friends n2 Iraq 2 create a reason 2 give taxpayer dollars 2 them. Russia fell because it spent all its wealth on war. Bush is doing the same 2 the U.S.A. We have no need 2 fear terrorist as long as we have Bush, hes destroying the glue which keeps this country together.

  • ok i understand what your saying but since when in history has any president put lives before money? unfortunately your right bush was trying to enter a iraq for whatever self reasons he had. but to go as far as to say that hes destroyingt the glue...take a look around the last thing this country is is together. between fear and hate this country is by far more divided than united. bush is just another reason people can have to hate eachother

  • Sad as it may be there are alot of people who seek out reasons to hate, you are right there. Bush has only added to the devision of this country he has made no show of effort to bring people together. He creates an image of ether you are with me or you are unpatriotic.

  • Bush has created a economic imbalance in this country and by doing so has weakend the long term strengths of this country. We need a President to undo the great seperation of wealth and poverty, before the economy falls apart

  • why does it seem each one of these men have been to the same random refugee camp?

    ive been there too
