You would think GM would learn from their past mistakes, making copies from other current GM cars isn't a great idea. Like with Pontiac...once great brand that lost all its originality. This is a HOT car! It has been a long time in coming but GM has finally brought out a series of Buicks that really turn heads. This is going to be a hit. I live in LA which is the land of small cars. This is exactly the kind of car that So Californians love. Sadly there has been so long since a Buick was a consideration, few dealerships exist to sell and showcase this beautiful car.

The Opal this car is based on looks much better. See Vauxhall Insignia VXR / Opel Insignia OPC. This car was originally rebadged saturn and it is fundamentally the same as a chevy Malibu. For what ever reason GM is going to bring the crap version to the us market. Just more of the same from GM. What sux is the Europeans get a much better version this car. It has been significantly water down and cheapened for the US Market. BUICK NEEDS GROW A PAIR and bring back the Grand National.

@jennandclovis First. This was build and design by Opel. This was NEVER a rebadged Saturn and is the not used on the current Chevy Malibu. GM plans on using this plamform for it's futurn american modles...like a redesign chevy Malibu. GM was going to release this car into the U.S as a redesign Saturn Aura for 09 and 10 but GM decided to close the Saturn disivion down. Yes the buick has some of the suspenion setting twinked for Americans and they comes in fewer and weaker engine choices.

That car is beautiful!!! It's like a modern version of the 1983 Buick Regal that is the actual design of the Buick Regal signature right there man you matched it up perfectly! That is an elegant vehicle body design and thanks for bringing that style back! This is the first one in many years now that actually matches close to the very popular early 80's design modernized.

It is rear wheel drive and would be a breath of fresh air for Buick to go along with this car and the new LaCrosse. China already has a rear wheel drive Buick, so why not us? A collaboration between GM and its design studio in China?? It's just a rebadged 2008 Insignia, developed and designed by GM's European subsidiary Opel in Germany. Watch the youtube video "Opel Insignia: Named Car of the Year 2009" where the actual designer Mark Adams explains his work!

Obviously GM recently called off selling its European division since they need it as a car supplier. Why don't they develop and produce such a car in the US? Better than just importing cars produced in Germany

GM is a global company with plants and offices all over the world. The only way to run a business today is to leverage everything you have to the max. If Opel develops great small cars...let them do it for the world. Its no different than Bank of America using the same invoice format with a laser printed name that changes for all their different credit card brands.

I remember inthe 90s GM had Toyota build them the GEO brand. GM knows better than anyone else that they can't build a good 4cylinder or v6 engine. They tried it by themselves in the 70s & 80s and it was a huge failure. Remember the vega or the chevette.Ford tried and discontinued the pinto and the 90s 4 cylinder mustang. Chrysler tried with the "K" car, but we all know this was also a huge failure. Like it or not, the Japanese own the American roads.............just look around

Anyway this Buick was orginally an Opel Insignia. This car will be a huge sucess. The Japanese Auto makers (mostly copiers) have peaked and will begin a decline. Although I must say Chrysler is certainly in big trouble but Ford and GM are going to make a big comeback.

@mack8ll1 You must not read the auto news or reviews. GM & the other US companies have one giant problem: Cost Structure. The contracts with the UAW are the albatros around the neck of the US auto makers. This has made it difficult to compete with auto makers who have vastly lower costs. Couple that with an infinity of stupid regulation like CAFE standards and you have the reasons for the decline of Detroit. GM & Ford are very sucessful in other parts of World. It's' the UAW that's the problem.

Also this economic meltdown that we are suffering is as a result of government involvment. GM was moving in the right direction when they got caught by this recession. Again the UAW is the big obstacle here. Besides the Japanese government heavily subsides their auto companies and freezes out imports in Japanese market. Learn something.

Recession people couldn't afford alot of expensive vehicles and it's true imports have been selling well but it's made some second guess buying while others flat out bought a new vehicle.

This looks like a rental car. The car on the road says, please don't tip me over. Look at the rear end ride height, it screams poor ride quality. I'm all for buying American, but come on... make something worth buying.

I will say however, that the interior is decent. Still looks plasticy and cheap, but still a step up from most american cars.

Horrible. The front lights look like a scion's with leds in it, the rear hatch looks like a hundai tiburon and a 6 series took a dump on it, the rear roof-line looks like an infinity G35 four door and then they put a 2.4 liter hampster motor in it. The only vehicles GM has made that are noteworthy are the corvette, which I own and still lacks in the interior department, the CTS-V, whose interior is finally up to par with its competition (not so much the exterior) & the G8 which was scrapped.
