Why isn't the German designers that actually DESIGNED this Opel Insignia credited in this idiotvideo? But the chinese?? That had nothing to do with it? Every car that has this exact design is an Opel Insignia rebadged! And thank you to that american whatever-his-name for taking the f-ing credit!
Just bought a Regal turbo, used to drive to work, just like the one in the video.....excellent ride, wonderful handling...quiet....makes a wonderful commuter vehicle for work and the 30 mpg doesnt help either....
Let's give it up for Mr. Lyon. He took an OPEL and slapped on BUICK symbol! Wow...this guy is like the asshole in school who copies you at the science fair. You would think GM would learn from their past mistakes, making copies from other current GM cars isn't a great idea. Like with Pontiac...once great brand that lost all its originality. Sure Buick needs some help...but why not make something all new!
This is a HOT car! It has been a long time in coming but GM has finally brought out a series of Buicks that really turn heads. This is going to be a hit. I live in LA which is the land of small cars. This is exactly the kind of car that So Californians love. Sadly there has been so long since a Buick was a consideration, few dealerships exist to sell and showcase this beautiful car.
The Opal this car is based on looks much better. See Vauxhall Insignia VXR / Opel Insignia OPC. This car was originally rebadged saturn and it is fundamentally the same as a chevy Malibu. For what ever reason GM is going to bring the crap version to the us market. Just more of the same from GM. What sux is the Europeans get a much better version this car. It has been significantly water down and cheapened for the US Market. BUICK NEEDS GROW A PAIR and bring back the Grand National.
@jennandclovis First. This was build and design by Opel. This was NEVER a rebadged Saturn and is the not used on the current Chevy Malibu. GM plans on using this plamform for it's futurn american modles...like a redesign chevy Malibu. GM was going to release this car into the U.S as a redesign Saturn Aura for 09 and 10 but GM decided to close the Saturn disivion down. Yes the buick has some of the suspenion setting twinked for Americans and they comes in fewer and weaker engine choices.
That car is beautiful!!! It's like a modern version of the 1983 Buick Regal that is the actual design of the Buick Regal signature right there man you matched it up perfectly! That is an elegant vehicle body design and thanks for bringing that style back! This is the first one in many years now that actually matches close to the very popular early 80's design modernized.
@FutureMarine246 Buick should bring out their own version of the new Chevy police car which used to sort of be the Pontiac G8. It is rear wheel drive and would be a breath of fresh air for Buick to go along with this car and the new LaCrosse. China already has a rear wheel drive Buick, so why not us? It's already certified as the now-defunct G8 and soon to be police car. Come on Buick!!
Boy this guy is a salesman. He calls it a piece of artwork that "happens to be a car." He really wants to get you in there, in the chair, with the finance manager, and buddy he's going to rip U off.
@MusclecarsMeditation i `v seen this car 20 days back in guangzhou china and i was shoked it one of good surprises the car was great we have to thank shanghau gm for the great job , i think thats the way to make BUICK.
My favorite part @ 2:00 when the car takes off. So beautiful and elegant. The turbo spooling up should be a little louder, as to remind people that they are truly driving a world class sport sedan. Forced induction rules! Kudos to the Buick team, you guys are awesome!
A collaboration between GM and its design studio in China?? It's just a rebadged 2008 Insignia, developed and designed by GM's European subsidiary Opel in Germany. Watch the youtube video "Opel Insignia: Named Car of the Year 2009" where the actual designer Mark Adams explains his work!
Obviously GM recently called off selling its European division since they need it as a car supplier. Why don't they develop and produce such a car in the US? Better than just importing cars produced in Germany
GM is a global company with plants and offices all over the world. The only way to run a business today is to leverage everything you have to the max. If Opel develops great small cars...let them do it for the world. Its no different than Bank of America using the same invoice format with a laser printed name that changes for all their different credit card brands.
its an Opel and because gm owns opel its easier and cheaper for them just to stick a buick badge on it as opposed to building a car here in the states, when they gotta pay someone $35 an hour to put on a door handle, thanks to the f-ing auto union
The Chinese Buick Regal has portholes, or at least vestiges of them. Perhaps when the Regal starts production in the US they will make more changes as they did in China.
that car is just an Opel Insignia. The Buick design directer has the easiest job in the world. "just stick a Buick badge on a boring Euro Box" What happened to cars with character? That car looks ok but lets face it. The car is boring and looks like every other car on the road.
I personally don't care if the car is America, Japanese, German, etc. All I care about is quality and looks. I don't know much about quality since I don't test drive many cars. As far as looks go I would choose the Buick Regal over many family sedans out there. Good job Buick. Keep up the good work.
This car is built in Germany, shipped over to US. FYI, this is the real deal for you import.... got to have's. european car of the year !!!!! Avg age buying this car there ...24 !!! I spent time with 2011 Regal yesterday in LA... its awesome!!!!!
Probably as long as you want. The perception that only Toyotas last forever is out of date. GM and Ford have been building reliable cars for a while now. Toyota has slipped.
I remember inthe 90s GM had Toyota build them the GEO brand. GM knows better than anyone else that they can't build a good 4cylinder or v6 engine. They tried it by themselves in the 70s & 80s and it was a huge failure. Remember the vega or the chevette.Ford tried and discontinued the pinto and the 90s 4 cylinder mustang. Chrysler tried with the "K" car, but we all know this was also a huge failure. Like it or not, the Japanese own the American roads.............just look around
Rubbish. You don't know what you are talking about and you are gonna get to eat some serious crow. I just wish I could be there to see it. GM is on the way back and Ford is doing very well. Anyway this Buick was orginally an Opel Insignia. This car will be a huge sucess. The Japanese Auto makers (mostly copiers) have peaked and will begin a decline. Although I must say Chrysler is certainly in big trouble but Ford and GM are going to make a big comeback.
When you say "Make a comeback", do you really believe that? I thought GM was going to "Revolutionalize the auto industry" with the Saturns. Stop drinking their kool aid and look at the facts. Big/small 3 sucks, that's why they're propped up by the feds and foreign makes are opening factories while GM is shutting down factories. Please explain this to me moron.
@mack8ll1 Look at just some of the new cars that are out there: Chevy Malibu Chevy Camaro Chevy Equinox Chevy Cruze (later this year) Chevy Volt (later this year) Cadilac CTS Buick Enclave Buick Lacrosse & Regal Ford Fusion Ford Edge Ford Focus Ford Mustang GMC Terrain Just read reviews on these cars. You are living in the past. It's not 1985. The quality of US cars now is equal or better than the imports. It's perception that's the problem now. I can see it with clowns like you.
I'm just curious. With all the incentives (cash back, longer warranty) and govt. loans, GM can't even break even. Must be that there are'nt enough sheep like you still drinking their kool aid. Most people, like myself have moved on to better and less trouble saddled autos, and don't have GM or Ford issues.
@mack8ll1 You must not read the auto news or reviews. GM & the other US companies have one giant problem: Cost Structure. The contracts with the UAW are the albatros around the neck of the US auto makers. This has made it difficult to compete with auto makers who have vastly lower costs. Couple that with an infinity of stupid regulation like CAFE standards and you have the reasons for the decline of Detroit. GM & Ford are very sucessful in other parts of World. It's' the UAW that's the problem.
If you feel so strongly about "GM and Ford making a big comeback",why not load up on their stocks and get rich, sheep.I thought the Saturn was supposed to have "Revolutionalized" GM. Saturn is now dead.Obama and the feds rescued pos GM. Am i not telling the truth?
@mack8ll1 And the government is a huge part of the problem with GM. Government has made it very difficult with overregulation and the stupid CAFE standards. Also this economic meltdown that we are suffering is as a result of government involvment. GM was moving in the right direction when they got caught by this recession. Again the UAW is the big obstacle here. Besides the Japanese government heavily subsides their auto companies and freezes out imports in Japanese market. Learn something.
You're confusing Japan with CHINA. Don't worry you'll get your chance to go after the Chinese, they now own Hummer and will be selling their "Cherry" brand autos here, later this year
GM should have gone for a "normal" Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructure. It would have allowed them to jettison their UAW contracts which are the albatross around the neck of the company. With a competitive cost structure, GM Can survive and be competitive. You need to seek professional help. You are wishing and hoping for a collaspe of the auto industry and industrial capacity in general. Do you have any notions of the disaster that would result? You are one pathetic creature.
Don't tell me bullshit about a recession. There's a recession worldwide. Obama tried to help them with the cash for clunkers but buyers opted for the imports instead...........the sheep are thinning out
You are one sick puppy. From your posts it seems like you are hoping for a collaspe of the US Auto Industry. What good would that possibly do? What would be gained by such an event? Would more jobs be created. Would that increase or decrease poverty? The US Auto Industry is a vital part of our economy like it or not. I can't stand the UAW but we need industrial jobs in the mid-west. Where are all these people going to find employment. No, you are one sick, miserable, individual. You need help.
