  • Awesome set up if you want to spend $200+. I'd wait until there is a market for thunderbolt. I'll stick with Firewire or USB 3.0

  • at this point your better off getting a dedicated file server with at least raid 5

  • but the real question is,

can it make you a sandwich?

  • And $200 just for the cables?

  • holly shit, that must cost a ton.

  • niceeeeeest

  • i don`t know what you people have, these are nice little machines

  • Obviously this is just for demonstration purposes - no one in their right mind would spend $1,600 on a setup like this.

  • I find the blue light very annoying.

  • um dia um dia

  • @MarkuzLee

There are not going to have HDD versions because a regular 7200rpm HDD read/write speeds are lower then USB 3.0 and Sata 6GBPS so there is no point in making a thunderbolt hard drive because the performance improvement will be none or almost unoticeable, unless they want to trick tipical mac users.

  • @jmpatinhas15 You should check their website before you make stupid comments.

  • @MarkuzLee

unless you RAID0 i'm correct, also don't believe everything you see on the interwebs

  • @jmpatinhas15 Well, that's your problem isn't it? They already sell them at stores. And yes, it's raid0.

  • @MarkuzLee

still, RAID0 will never use the full Thunderbolt potential and i tested it myself.

  • @jmpatinhas15 No one says it will. Neither should it, because Thunderbolt made with daisy chaining in mind. That's where you can easily put the bandwidth to the test.

  • that's woth more than the macbook pro itself

  • @Nanotijerina its also called, upgrading the hardrive...

  • @UltraXcrafter wtf?

  • Fancy words for PCI direct connections and SSD drive benefits combined!

  • what's the fried chicken doing in the related videos?

  • i see around 4 cables?! and its 50$ for one cable=around 200$ just the cables :/ wth

  • How much for these baby dinosaurs

  • @MACmySTUFF 400$ each

  • @Ameeran5 Yeah, the most secure way, based on the assumption that SATA drives will definitely break eventually and you can replace them when without worrying about losing any data. But check out this:

It wont let me post a URL in this box, but i advise going to the apple.com store and look at the new macbook air 'configure' pricing page, scroll to the bottom and check the prices of these thunderbolt RAIDs - it's not cheap

  • @Ameeran5 a RAID is a system which uses a cluster of individual harddrives with the data spread/shared across them, so if one breaks, it's backed up on the others. The benefit is that you get more efficient storage space than if you just perpetually backed-up harddrives one-to-one.

Not the best description ever, but I hope that explains it.

  • They're daisy-chained together right? Does that mean they can be configured to perform as a RAID?

  • how much for these bad boys ?

  • OK so how about showing some benchmarks?

  • @Gunner3210 It is and OMG Aluminum is so low quality!

    Don't be an idiot.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Plastic is better right? O.o

  • @Gunner3210 pc fan boy no doubt

  • So the video is showing 4 external drives connected to that Macbook via 1 Thunderbolt interface... ZOMG!!!

  • @TunnyTuna It is and it's incredible! Man I want one of these drives. *drools*
