@witcher1125 people laugh about how cheesy the scene looks but they cry when they realize the three reasons why he is crying. The first was that he is under a virus that lowers inhibitions and makes him express his deepest emotions. 2. The sparker was that Nurse Chapel told Spock she loved him and because he is half Vulcan he can't recipricate that love and feels guilt. And 3 one of his other guilts was he never got to tell his mother he loved her.

Nimoy wasn't chosen to play Spock for his ardent emotional displays. Rather it was the contrary which landed him the part, wherefore in a scene like this he can be perceived as being out off his element. Which by itself is sufficient cause to warrant the kiddish question off whether or not it looks like he is crying. I hope that by paraphrasing myself I have now removed any ambiguity as to the meaning off my remark. Really, this is becoming a strangely frequent habit.

I remember an interview with Leonard Nimoy about this scene where he points out that this scene is done all in one take, no cuts and begins with him far away from the camera - then, as his emotions become more and more uncontrollable, he gets closer to the camera, and then it starts to close on him until you feel like you're right beside him. Very nice piece of acting AND camerawork in this little scene...

Well see it's kinda like this, a crew member gets a virus and it spread through perspiration, it cuases you to lose all of your inhibitions, apparently spocks facade of logic and no emotions is his inhibition, Nurse Chapel tells him she loves him and ends up spreading the disease to him. He is upset either because he couldn't convey any emotion back to her (yet) or because all of his emotions came on so strong and he wasn't used to it :D That help?
