I can tell that Karsh Kale uses Reason to make his songs because the samples sound very farmiliar and he's created some custom sounds :)

But he's great!! Best instrumental i like is "Tour Guide" (sounds like garage)

this type of music is called ASIAN UNDERGROUND but here asian is not east asian its South Asian roots. karsh kale is from nyc,usa. other artists like him are NITIN SAWHNEY (hes the best, in my opinion), Talvin Singh, Medival Punditz, Tabla Beat Science, State of Bengal etc. all these guys have instrument TABLA in one form or other in their songs.
