my friend those are not huckleberries....trust me huckelberries do not look like that. I live in idaho and pick hukleberries all the time.... I think what you have there is a wild blueberry looking simular but different...hope your still alive from eating them.
A fun to know fact.... If you eat enough of them, with an empty stomach, until you are "full" or at least not hungry, You will crap blue turds. This is true not a joke.
they look a lot like poke berrys.. is there any ways u can tell the difrence better that u know of is it maby the red cause i know poke r like green and blackish but not shere if they r red
@thebuzzon420 Pokeberry bushes are tall, woody stems(think main stem), perennial, and the berries grow in clusters. They have a distinct smell and ooze muave juice.
im eating huckleberry flavored gummy bears that i got on my trip to glacier national park, if you get a chance to go there, you need to try the huckleberry ice cream and the huckleberry soda, the stuff is delicious
They're abundant in the Florida panhandle. Ripe in the fall and winter. Lots of seeds and not much flavor compared to very similar but tastier wild blueberries that are ripe in June.
Up here in the PacNorthWest, Hucks are plentiful in the higher elevations, thats also where you're most likely to run into Griz. Around Huck season is also around the time Bears begin to stock up on fat for the winter.

i've heard people say "if you see animals eat it, you can eat it safely" But deer ear poison ivy, and birds eat pokeberries.....

Poisonous berries taste bad, right? You can just spit them out of your mouth.

That is a tall huckleberry bush. I found a large patch two days ago, however, the grizzlies also found it.

Its something my dad told me. I think his mom gave them to him when he was a baby and they had him sick.
