What do you mean? I heard people saying it 's the rapper s delight 's bass line, but I dont think that's very obvious (nor true). Could you enlighten me on this?
@Gargantua606 Well let's go back even further because the bassline from 'Rapper's Delight' was basically a rip-off of 'Good Times' by Chic (Edwards and Rodgers were credited as co-writers after they threatened legal action). It's blindingly obvious to my ears.
Oh yeah, those we're my unworriesome youthful days. 1982 right? A catchy tune doesn't really need meaningful lyrics. Just keeps you moving along........
Well apart from the fact that the bass line is totally nicked from The Sugarhill Gang ..

@MrBorsie: If you're thinking of "Rapper's Delight" it uses the instrumental of Chic - "Good Times" as backing track.

This seems to have been the era for complex bass lines - this and an equally amazing Hit Me had some bass playing that would kill lesser guitarists.

The music is just super - but the sound is a little crappy. The amplitude is moving up and down.

@tednielson: Yeah I know. This was added when YouTube were experimenting with some crappy auto gain compression.

Bugger... knew i'd asked that already. Dying to hear Jimi Henderix' Strat, the long version of Croydon and the Percy Pavilion stuff. WTF?!

Any idea on when/ if The Captain's going to bring out a box set? Really frustrating.
