Slavery was terrible. Some untold history however, is how African tribes sold other africans (their own people) to Europeans. Unlike the movie Roots, people didn't go into Africa and hunt down slaves. Other Africans sold other Africans. So in a sense, their destruction came from within.

This is true to an extent but do not try to make it seem like Africans brought the problem on themselves. The style of slavery practiced by America was brutal, inhumane, and still carries impacts to this day.
