the only thing about the times that are a-changin' is the days of the week and the numbers above your calenders. Everything else is still the same 'ole same 'ole. In 160 years, there is still gonna be the common workin dog sayin '"c'mon son I'll show you how to work hard and be a man" and the business class sayin " Cmon son, he's too busy TRYIN' to be a man while we ARE men so that right there entitles us to take his money, but leave em enough to get by and they won't complain, they's too dumb"
I'm 16 and I think people our age and all others need to find that real music can't only be found in the confines of just one genre and that stereotypes such as the one you've just thrown out there aren't needed today because just like the older generations, the newer ones also have a voice to be heard and yea all this commercial stuff you hear on the T.V is bullshit but trust me if you dig deep enough you'll find the wisdom....ha

I think that all the youngsters should show middle finger to their elder generation and works so they can be creative by themself. that's how dylan did it
Ironic that the generation who grew up with this song are now the ones we are frustrated at, and the ones who applied it to their congress and senators are now our senators and congress
@ruialvell90120 I do not find it depessing, but exciting. It means new options arise, new opportunities to do new things. New people to meet, new ways to do things. :)
95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy and paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die!
I admit to liking Bruno Mars, or at least liking SOME Bruno Mars. The rest Hannah Montana (you probably mean Miley Cyrus), Owl City, Jonas Brothers (who have been absent from the scene for some time now, mercifully), Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber all suck. I agree that the youth of today like shit... it's like they don't know that music from before 2005 or so even exists. Their loss, really.
@MerlinAmbrosius17 yea your right im 15 i like bruno mars and the rest that you hate i dont like them too !! i love the beatles, bob dylan and marley ,jjmi hendrix i love all them !!
@hifzimr why do people treat music like a competition? some people might listen to different stuff than you, whatever. just accept that and move on. :P
Hi all, i'm fench speaking and i dont understand what is the "a-" letter before "changing". What does "a-changing" mean ? I have seen that front "a-" in other texts also. For example in this poetry:
@ytonaona It doesn't really have an actual meaning in terms of language. It's just a device that lyricists and poets use to add rhythm to their lyrics. "They are a-changing" almost bounces when Dylan sings it, when compared to "They are changing" which is quite a flat statement. It basically adds vibrancy to lyrics, and it's this attention to detail which makes Dylan one of the most respected songwriters of his generation.
Well i genetally listen to Heavy Metal and other stuff but Dylan have best lyrics i ever heard and im sure it will never change ;] Bob rocks if i can say that ;s
you guys are all in ingnorance, u believe the world cant change because of what is happening now, the leaders in our government don't know how to run it, we need smart, educated people to run it, FDR was a good example, this guy is right, the times will change if we work towards it, i still listen 2 this song to help me out dispite my username
Humanity.. This specie must have evolved beyond the picture of 'humanity' to last this long. These pitiful vessels will not live further than their own ignorance of each other, of life.
@ackmonra Some do, some don't. Some don't even care and too many follow. Seems that too many people are copying the acts of the ignorant and greedy. I'm not perticularly religious, but I think the world would be a better place if they believed in gods and heavens, that way they fear going to some form of hell and unfortunatly fear seems to be the only way to control all the idiotic and selfish people.
For the Money we've spent just in Iraq alone we could have healthcare for every American, and convert every car in America to run on ethanol! we are doomed as long as ignorance prevails... Hope you can swim...
@BikZippo Your not the only ones in Iraq mate. And who in the USA what about the oil companies, that would fail, if every car was converted to Ethanol.
Not saying your wrong, but you have to think of the other side of the argument rather than just act like what you say is gospel.
One of the best songs ever written, although Idiot Wind, Tangled Up In Blue, and Mr. Tambourine Man are also up there. Than again most of his songs are.
I'm in the library doing a 3,000 word essay and when I get really stressed, I just sit back and listen to this song, like I am doing now. It makes me feel so much better.
I think the young people of today need to hear this song and ( John Lennon - Working Class Hero ) and mabe they would start thinking about how things effect the world and not just themselves...the world is so fucked now days...and Im only 21...Kinda sad I hate my generation of people.
@Emoio a song cant change the world, People change the world, though this song might help people wake up and realize that things need to change...Im only 17 and i agree with you
@Emoio It's not our generation that's to blame for the ills of today, its the previous ones. The inventors of the A-bomb, napalm, the global consumer market. We will be to blame for not doing anything to stop it in the up-coming years.

Barring asteroid collision, biosphere collapse or nuclear war - humanity will be around in the year 50,345.
Not to mention 334,553.
Trust that this amount of time can't pass and we remain this stupid.
Because if humanity does anything - its get smarter slowly.

@JayFFAFAlesanaES Unfortunatly a belief in Heaven and Hell only permits one man to give another perfect justification for any crime.
"God hates X, send him to hell and you'll go to heaven - don't obay you'll go to hell"
Idiots and the selfish can be woo'd with the pretty lights and power of science; but can't justify anything immoral with it without being incorrect.
