Wow, I can't believe I didn't hear this until today. I guess I was so disappointed with Lasers that I just sort of haven't followed Lupe much since. Missed super Lupe lyrical songs that didn't try to make him be something that he isn't, like Lasers did.
the best lyricist alive are u fucking kidding me, no one has as much content debt, comined with metaphors hard as a fucking steel door. his rap songs make my skin shiver and rappers dont usually have that affect on me. this man is sick. omg too much. im cuttin the song off GN
@Jmontastic I think that's a load of bull. Lupe wanted to change his sound, and he's using Atlantic to take blame for all his fans that didn't like it.
67,000 views??? Like, are you fucking kidding me!?? This is by far one of, if not the greatest, tracks Lupe ever made. Every line had substance, meaning, and depth. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. Flow, clever lines, chorus, it's all there. Talent like this shouldn't go unnoticed people. You'll be wishing him back when he retires. Spread the music, let's wake some bitches up.
@samuelb025 ^ this comment is approved by many hiphop heads. I noticed on this tape he has better beath control or production. I used to hate those long as breaths he had to take. this beat is a fuckin problem ya dig? I make my chick listen to this every day since it dropped.
Yo Lupe went crazyyyyy on this track, ABSOLUTELY NUTS!! "A Jesus in the desert walkin, Dundee walkabout, A self imposed exile, learned to let the awesome out, Even if I was homeless I would STILL have an awesome house"! << That Was DEEP smh
I've been listening to Lupe for years...i've got all his pre-Lasers tracks. But the new stuff he's putting out isn't as good as his old stuff. His delivery is getting lazier, he's putting on a weird semi-southern accent, and his lyrics, although still deep meaning, are getting more abstract.
@MrVizionary2012: Yeah, definitely. IMO his material on the Fahrenheit 1/15 mixtapes was incredible. Tracks like Knockin At the Door, Handcuffs, and Lupe the Killa are ill.
@StudioScarecrow: I heard about that, but if it's left a lasting effect on everything he makes from now on, I won't listen to his new stuff. Food and Liquor 2 has been announced, I hope its of the same calibre as 1.
@skaterava Well, in my opinion, most of the tracks on Friend of the People were really amazing, Lupe's delivery was on point, the lyrics (almost) as playful, intricate and deep as in the "good days" - fully agree regarding Lasers though, that album was deliberately watered down by Atlantic Records.
if anything lupe is underrated, but most people dont understand what the fuck his talking bout most of the time. wale is underrated, kendrick is gonna blow up in 2012, his got the lyrical flow and connections. section .80 was the bomb. in my opinion i think lasers was created to try and be more commercial and mainstream.
@Ginga underrated-Wale, Big K.R.I.T., ASAP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar
I like Lupe I just feel like this song isn't what Lupe once was in the Food and Liquor era I mean this song is not commercial at all but LASERS was such a dissapointment
I don't listen to Rocky or Lamar but I can agree Wale and KRIT are underrated. Still, how is Lupe overrated? His name is rarely mentioned when people discuss the best MCs. People know he's lyrical but I don't think he really gets his due.
I completely disagree that this isn't reminiscent of Lupe's F&L sound. It reminds me of "Emperor's Soundtrack". Soundtrakk produced the instrumental for that, along with four others on F&L. He also produced this instrumental.
@fruityloopsamples Kendrick Lamar isn't underrated he's has gotten an immense amount of recognition last year. Besides that I agree with what you wrote except Lupe was at his best from F&L to EOTS, and a little bit after EOTS. However, I still think Lupe can deliver the same quality, and even release better lyricism then he had in his F&L to EOTS days. He still can rap circles around the majority of rappers, and is still one of the best to ever do it.
@fruityloopsamples Ofcourse LASERS was a dissapointment, and even Lupe said that himself after the record company tried to fuck him over. Food and Liquor 2 and his live concerts are a way for Lupe to say sorry to his fans. It will be untouched by Atlantic Records.
@jfraz1992 Don't You Hate It When People Think Something Is Cool Or Good Just Because It's Popular? It's Fucking Annoying What People Will Do To Fit In With My Dumb Generation
WHen i hear him go "2 nigga Big Pun, 1 Man Slaughterhouse, 2 album Jay Z, 1 Nigga Wu-Tang, Young and Hungry Mos Def, Conscious Rappin Lil Wayne" I'm like Oh shit he means business about Top 5 alive
Hey everybody, can I have your attention? I know a lot of people do this, but if you guys can check out my music, on my channel, and please subscribe if you like it. I'm an 18 year old hip hop artist from Alabama. Check me out, I promise that you won't be disappointed. THUMBS UP!
@kbizzle31 "Controversial, independent, fearless with a massive movement built off of a crazy work ethic...sounds like #Winning to me. Why hate on that???" - Lupe Fiasco on Twitter. I would show the pic but youtube won't allow me to post the link I guess.
@puffdaniel09 because niggas like u are defending ignorance, and only reason why lupe fucked with it because lil b was tryna be so called conscious on the i'm gay album but guess what that shit FLOPPED! so hell yea i'm mad because too many ppl are sucking this man's dick
@jfraz1992 lol I used to be just like you make fun of Lil B. But then I saw the light. You just don't understand yet, but once you do your perception will be changed.
I like how in the details he talks about how lupe is awesome cause his lyrics are deep and take time to understand...then he posts the lyrics wrong, clearly you dont understand them. Unofrtunately this wont get thumbs up cause many people dont understand the lyrics. Lyrics posted are wrong, it takes a different breed of person to understand lupe i guess
@YouBeMadlol lmfao if your saying soulja boy will kill him, lupe is the most feared person in chicago, its a fact.and hes a 3rd degree black belt in karate.GOOD LUCK :).
he takes a couple stabs at lil wayne in this. i think it's good that he is pointing out that it's stupid that a hot line is just "a pause and a chuckle" for most of his punchlines, but i thought lupe was better than that. leave the hating for 50 cent.
@ramafia09 no he is is saying "its more than a pause and a chuckle. I bench press elephants and bowling ball juggle." basically saying that he does the impossible while he is laughing
Best song from FOTP besides Lightwork. Besides that, the whole mixtape was just Lasers shit x 10. Lyrics were okay, but the mainstream beats were painful to listen to. Come back to your FnL days, Lupe.
@FINofficial I'm not of my last post's opinion anymore, my bad. I went back and took a second listen, and realized that the lyrics are maybe some of the most amazing rhymes spit by Lu since FnL. @A094H2 remember tho.. its jus a mixtape. hes havin fun with different beats that he usually wouldnt rap on. i thought this track would be on lasers, cuz soundtrakk produced it. crazy track. goes at soulja boy in second verse too
@ProlificTheLyricist Apparently you do need RapGenius since you call this song boring. Compare those 50 underrated rappers to Lupe in terms of lyrcism, Lupe will pretty much eat them up. That simple. =\
@ProlificTheLyricist H.O.P= Hold On Playa!!!!(Deion Sander Voice) I'm a Lupe Fiasco fan so that means I'm a clown? If that's the case that would be the most asinine fallacious comment I would of read all day.
Yea Eminem has dissed him on multiple occasions but just joking around. I would love to see that collab it would be sick as hell, Shady 2.0 was some of the sickest shit I've ever heard.
@MrGangster4lyf No one is going to respond to Lupe. It doesnt matter if Lupe can rhyme. there's a difference between a lyricist and being a battle rapper. Lupe as far as i can tell is not a battle rapper.
@HotPocketsBoy Yeah I agree. He's talented, but beef is NOT his strong suit. It doesn't matter how complex you are, if you can't take a hit in the industry, you're fucked.
Our generation is fucking stupid, kids today won't listen to something that isn't as basic as everyday conversation. If Lupe was born twenty years before he was, he would be among everybody's greatest of all time lists. No question.
Lupe, Said He likes Lil B, that he was a revolutionary, so I dont know what you cats are talking about, Look up the article and get your facts straight.
@ivansobeast stupid ass he said it was different and good in the sense that he was bold enough to have such a different title. he noted his bravery... lil b is smart he just acts like that. its a persona btw.
I'm surprised this doesn't have a lot more views. Lupe went OFF on this one. Lyrically one of the best to ever bless the mic....come check out my rhymes on my page and let me know what u think J-WHIT
I understand where you are all coming from. We are all used to the same type of rap. go to world star and u see the rappers trying to get hot but they all rap and sound the same. Even though lil b does make some trash music, it is music no one else has dared to make. He is fearless. he will say some crazy shit i admit but that is only 4 ur attention b/c he knows how humans react to the shit he does. I feel it is all a unintentional or maybe intentional psychology.
People are judged upon who they associate with. Example: obama was judged b/c he brought common into the white house. If the greats of hip-hop (whom i trust) see or saw something in Lil B that I missed, i made sure I tried to see what they saw. And what I came to understand is that Lil B is pushing the boundaries of hip-hop and rap. He has said "take what you want from my collection" I have chosen to leave the wonton soups and take the good rap about shit that I care about.
I really love Lupe's lyrics but something he always needed to work on since he first came out was his delivery. Just the way things sound when they come out his mouth. The way he says something could make it sound completely boring but it has so much substance to it. With a hotter delivery Lupe could probably be the best ever.
Wow, I can't believe I didn't hear this until today. I guess I was so disappointed with Lasers that I just sort of haven't followed Lupe much since. Missed super Lupe lyrical songs that didn't try to make him be something that he isn't, like Lasers did.

@MrGangster4lyf No one is going to respond to Lupe. It doesnt matter if Lupe can rhyme. there's a difference between a lyricist and being a battle rapper. Lupe as far as i can tell is not a battle rapper.
HotPocketsBoy 3 months ago
@HotPocketsBoy Yeah I agree. He's talented, but beef is NOT his strong suit. It doesn't matter how complex you are, if you can't take a hit in the industry, you're fucked.

@Nvcca2 lol Hopsin never dissed Lupe's rapping abilities he just said Lupe can't stakeboard.
HueyEscobar56 6 months ago
Our generation is fucking stupid, kids today won't listen to something that isn't as basic as everyday conversation. If Lupe was born twenty years before he was, he would be among everybody's greatest of all time lists. No question.
yup711 6 months ago 2
If I challenged Lupe to a battle of rap ( writtin or freestlye ) I would probly shit myself, for everytime he uses a punchline.

ivansobeast 6 months ago 11
@ivansobeast We know that we're talking about how we still don't like him, even though Lupe loves him.
800mEric 6 months ago 13
@ivansobeast stupid ass he said it was different and good in the sense that he was bold enough to have such a different title. he noted his bravery... lil b is smart he just acts like that. its a persona btw.

TheSenseiClay 7 months ago
@TheSenseiClay Yeah he is. As a fan of real hip hop, I respect Lil B for what he's doing.

@coriejay Lil b is doing nothing for hip hop

I really love Lupe's lyrics but something he always needed to work on since he first came out was his delivery. Just the way things sound when they come out his mouth. The way he says something could make it sound completely boring but it has so much substance to it. With a hotter delivery Lupe could probably be the best ever.
marmugga24 7 months ago
@marmugga24 Delivery? I never thought he needed to work on his delivery. I think it's top notch. Well, each to their own.
