  • Maybe you wonder why the hymn " A Toi La Gloire " ( Thine Be The Glory " ) , by Haendel , at the arrival in the church , is sung ......in French and not in Dutch , the language of Holland ( the Netherlands more exactly ) : this is to pay homage to the " Huguenots " , the persecuted French Protestants who fled by their thousands , to Holland as soon as the XVI th century , and who contributed to the prosperity of the country ...

This hymn is a great classic among Huguenots ...

  • The opening hymn that some were asking the name is by Handel, from "Judas Macaabes". There are several sets of words, the best known being "Thine be the Glory". The hymn includes a descant composed by another musician. The recess was "The Prince of Denmark's March" by J Clark.

  • 3.58 wat is the name of this hymn?

  • Volgens mij heeft mijn vader toen ook nog meegelopen

  • What is this hymn the congregation is singing in the beginning of the ceremony?

  • @williamgadelha - I think it might be "U komt de lof toe"= Yours is the glory

  • Shell belong to the people, but should not belong to the queen.

  • I wish that the queen would wear a Crown you harldy ever see her wear one

  • H. M. the Queen doesn`t wear a crown, because duthc kings and queens are not crowned, they take an oath

  • That's correct, dutch monarchs are invested, so there's no coronation but an investiture.

  • What the hell are you talking about?!

How old are you.. 6?! You don't say that about a royal higness of another country!

  • he/she obviously has no clue about the Dutch royal family, otherwise he wouldn't have said such a ridiculous comment!

  • And you are an ignorant idiot.

  • The gorgeous woman in green and the white hat (4:46)is the current Queen of Belgium, Queen Paola!

  • wow, wasnt she like one of the most beautiful women of the 20th centruy in europe? she is a good catch for the King lol! :)

  • What's this nonsence? She is the queen. She didn't mary a Dutch. She was the heir to the Dutch thrown, she married a German. The queen's husband in a prince in Holland, not a king.

  • wasn't talking about her, the king of belgium, flemish was talking about queen paola of belgium, not NE

  • @kilda93 he is not a king, the husband of the queen is a prince, the wife of the king is called queen (don't know why :) )

  • @prooijtje A King is higher than a Queen (think of a game of cards). If the heir is a male and becomes king then his wife can become queen as she'll still be lower than him. If the heir is a female and becomes queen, her husband can't be made king because then HE would be higher than her and deemed the ruler of the country...so the husband of a female heir crowned queen has to be made a prince so that he doesn't outrank her.

  • @kilda93 I wouldn't describe her as beautiful-she never has been. She's one of those who one would describe as being a 'handsome' woman but never any great beauty.

  • THE BREAM!!!!

  • funny that the presentator of the clip sad that there wus some problems with hoodlums who threw smokebombs love that time that the peepz throw just smokebombs than killing somebody

sorry for bad english btw :)

  • Extraordinary now to think back on the hostility expressed towards Prince Claus for his German background - smoke bombs and jeering during the royal procession. By the time of his death, Claus was much loved in the Netherlands - perhaps the most popular member of the royal family.

  • He was popular. And funny.

  • who know the name of the handsome young officer in this video?

he dress up full officer unifrom with red strap in 6:05 timeline, thanks

  • The young man you are referring to is HRH Crown Prince Harald of Norway.

  • Like something from a fairytale story!

  • i love this royal family.

  • @onstageagain The Queen of the Netherlands doesn't live off the tax $. There isn't a Dutch dollar you tit.

  • Hi thanks for this beutiful video

    congratulations for your work

  • I wish I could understand what the commentator is saying!

  • I knew that actually, because I have been there many years.

  • I would like to move there eventually. I love their system, they don't get beligerent with the rest of the world and there are more Dutch companies in the fortune 500 than of any other country except the U.S.A. They seem to have it all. What a beautiful land.

  • Well thank you !

But right now Dutch troops are kicking the Talibans asses in Afghanistan and many things are also far from ideal overhere.

  • Nonsence. Dutch came from Franconian.

  • Old-Frisian and Old -English?????

No man, Dutch definitely didn't come from Frisian or English.

The latter two belong to Ingwaeonic Germanic/Coastal Germanic.

Dutch does not. Dutch comes from Old-Franconian and belongs to Continental West Germanic. That means Dutch falls into the same group as German.

  • This was a true love match and proof that love conquers all
