  • Guys. Tolkien was a Catholic christian, who said himself that the main purpose of life was to glorify God.(i agree) And, obviously, elements from his faith were absorbed into his books. He did NOT intend his books to be allegories though, and obviously enjoyed studying other cultures and religions. So, i think he would be glad to know that his books touched the hearts of people from many different faiths and backgrounds. Anyhow. Stop arguing and just enjoy the song!! :)

  • I love this song, I got to found it from the cartoon.

  • I don't appreciate the extreme attitude (about something other than the video, no less)... but I'd also say that judging a group of people based on one person's extreme actions is just as shameful and extreme.

Now, listen to the music and just ENJOY it instead of locking swords, okay?

  • @JesusIsChampion You realize that the main reason the world is the way it is now is because of the Christian "no one else is right" mentality right? So shut up, enjoy a good story, and stop trolling with your christian dogma that no one really gives two cents about when all they want to do is hear this excellent song. Now, if you really want to be christian, stop judging people for what they believe. Wander off now and go pray to your imaginary friend while i go worship mine.

  • umm... *looks down* ...i dunno what that arguement is about, but i'm just gonna keep to myself and enjoy this song now.

  • @jonathanstuber0402 really end of the world reference

  • lemmiii winks!!! you must find the secret of paris hiltons asshole!

  • The hobbit comes out in 4 weeks

  • @epicpieho Uh, pretty sure it's not coming out until this December, 2012.

  • thumbs up if you hope this wonderful song is in the new movie as well.

  • OH HELL YEAH TRAILER CAME OUT

  • @S34NH3RN4ND3Z This song should've been in it lol

  • They have to find room for this song in the 2012 adaptation somewhere.... hopefully it's in the teaser trailer next month

  • i miss the classic cartoons.

  • it is a fantastic song although i dont feel so comfortable with the vibrato in glens singing

  • watch the hobbit you'll grow some balls (the hobbit 1977)

  • Correction: The song was written by Maury Laws and Jules Bass --- this is a neat remix, though.

  • @ElectricPirates I think any Rankin/ Bass fan knows this lol

  • yes. life sucks.life is...difficult...we carry on...

  • i cried. this song is so beautiful...

  • His voice always makes me want to sing in one of those massage chairs.

  • Thanks

  • lemmiwinks!

  • 10 times better than Lemmiwinks, which didn't even get the right tune. The Hobbit rocks.

  • god bless you TehJawaMan

  • God bless you for posting this song and montage!!!

  • south park version is upbeat lol

  • @charlytheo2007 There's a south park version?

  • @SongsJerome Simularity, just type in lemmiwinks and you'll hear it.

  • @SongsJerome yes lemiwinks, i am the sparrow king, to hear the south park version you must make your way up through the small intestine into the stomach, there the gargles of of the stomach acid will perfectly mimic the southpark version

  • With lyrics! Excellent!

  • This song introduced me to the world of Tolkien and I have been an avid fan ever since.

  • Makes me cry, too. Odd, as I'm a rabid JRRT fan.

  • Smaug the dragon disliked this video.

  • I was six years old when the Hobbit cartoon came out, and Glenn's voice and the musical arrangements were so compelling that I credit him as the reason I wanted to read ( Tolkien books ). Thanks Glen for your inspiration!

  • I remember this song from South Park ! Lol never knew that it was taken from this.

  • I used the chorus as my High School yearbook quote.

  • Lemmiwinks :-)

  • this song is what south park was making fun of

  • The Cartoons of the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Return of the King are better than any live action movie could ever dream to achieve.

  • vibrato much? haha love this song/movie

  • this song was not actually composed by glenn yarbrough - it was written by maury laws and jules bass, who wrote the songs for practically all of rankin/bass's specials

  • Coolest part about this video is it has 0 dislikes. Everyone loves this movie >.>

  • Saw this movie when I was a child and no longer did any genre of film, book, or video capture and move me like fantasy. Glen Yarborough's voice sold me to a life of dreaming of mountains tale and forests deep.

  • the cartoon was way better than that movie

  • My favorite part is 0:00 to 2:13 :-D

  • @WonderingJaguarPath Same! :D

  • I saw this film when I was 3. At the time I thought it was the best animated film of all time. I memorized it on the piano by the time I was 5. I'm 17, and not only do I still remember it, but I would gladly watch it again if I had it, and have since become a huge Glen Yarborough fan.

  • this song makes me sad for some reason... the music just makes me want to cry

  • @silverslippers95 i know exactly how you feel about the song, ive seen this cartoon so many times as a kid and adult and it makes my eyes water as well

  • @silverslippers95

I know exactly what you mean. A friend of mine was struck by a train earlier this week, I thought I was going to be alright for a little while, but hearing this song just made me tear up.

    It's beautiful, but painful.

  • @silverslippers95 Nostalgia?

  • @silverslippers95 thats because its depressing and not hopeful, the spirit of it is like 'this is the end' its all a satanic counterfeit of Jesus and the bible, the real adventure begins when you receive Jesus into your heart and then the christian journey unfolds as God unfolds it for you, and Jesus is your constant companion on this journey of life who will never leave thee nor forsake thee, unlike everyone else, his song is joy, and hope along the way with no pressures

  • @silverslippers95 they really messed up lord of the rings series with the movies, frodo wasnt an arrogant asshole telling sam what to do, even before 'the ring thing' in those movies, frodo represents selfish humanity, gripped by the 'ring' of sin, but for those who know Jesus, Sam represents Jesus, ever faithful and true to all born again believers, just like sam was to frodo ' by rights we shouldnt be here, its this place, its that thing around your neck' the world is mordor

  • @silverslippers95 and what he meant in the movie was, we shouldnt be in a world of sin like this, but soon Jesus will refurbish this earth by fire, first time it was by the flood, humanity was so evil the bible says the thoughts of men were evil continually, so God had to wipeout every human on earth except for Noah and 7 people, thats how wicked people were and still are,God had to destory sodom and gomorrah by fire FROM HEAVEN because they were so evil, the only hope is Jesus

  • @silverslippers95 there were so many scenes in that lotr trilogy that were cool and represented something, and there were alot of assinine and anti-christian parts, i used to have before i threw them away, the special dvd editions of all 3 films, i was watching the fellowship one with commentary, and elijah wood and the rest of them are real assholes, and one of them cursed God i heard him, as if they wanted their fantasy world to be real, and not God - its the other way around

  • @JesusIsChampion ANTI CHRISTIAN? Are you SHITTING ME? THE WHOLE DAMN STORY IS A CHRISTIAN STORY. It's not as in-your-face as the chronicles of narnia, but damn. Get your facts straight. Tolkien was a devout anglican, and in fact persuaded his friend C.S. Lewis (the writer of the chronicles of narnia) to return to the church. At least get your facts straight next time you decide to go off on a religious rant.

  • @silverslippers95 elijah wood is an asshole, id like to beat the shit out him and that guy who dressed up like a dog on that f'd up show 'Wilfred' these people that live today and make movies and tv are all a bunch of fucking weirdos, satanist, the whole deal, losers, last time i checked, we all sin, so pardon me for saying F U C K, just in case ur some asshole reading this who thinks being a christian means ur mister rogers or think we're all like fucked up tv evangelists, lol

  • @silverslippers95 i thought the capper of frodo's arrogrance was at the end when he was a royal asshole and took off on that ship and left his 'friends' behind who loved him so much, frodo was never their friend, he just used them and said fuck u, im gone, sam especially and all of them pipppin merry shoulda kicked his ass so bad that he wouldnt be able to travel, knowing those fuckin elves and or gandalf fuckin self righteous bastards, they would have healed him

  • @JesusIsChampion Dude... WRONG. WROOOOOOOOONG. Frodo left because he had carried a burden far too much for one hobbit, it's why Bilbo went with him. The elves left because they saw their time was over, it was the time of men. Please reread the book to see why exactly you are wrong.

  • @silverslippers95 i hate cate blanchett, shes a royal asshole, she thinks shes the shit, but she's a bitch just like most of american women, shes aSStralian, most australian women are americanized, and probably not much different than usa women, theres probably more of them nicer than usa women, usa way to go, u think ur God, ur not, fucking up most cultures of the world, americanizing everything with your hippie love ur self shit, the only nation that will forever rule-Israel

  • @silverslippers95 a major royal fuckup of lotr movies, return of the king, was, if they didn't do it in the theatrical version, shit, what fucking assholes, it should have been done in the dvds no question a very very beautiful alternate ending of where, when the ring got burned and destroyed, gollum should have started changing back to his old self of smeagol, just how they did for theoden when he came out of saruman's grip, it would have been so cool for frodo and sam humbled

  • @JesusIsChampion Did you ever read the books? You make no sense, gollum seriously did what was in the movies. He it off frodo's hand and leapt into the pit.

Now what would have been a nice addition is the scouring of the shire, but they averted that by straight up killing Saruman...

  • South Park parodied this with the Lemmiwinks episode.

  • man I first saw the movie a couple years ago and i loved this song immediatley i wish i could have been born around when it came out.

  • i still watch the hobbit all the time. so many funny lines..WHERE THE DOUZE IS GANDOLF?

  • Man, i remember this, as a young boy, this was one of my favorite songs. I remember that stick that was Sting, the bushes that were the spiders, the rocks were the dwarves, and the tree was smaug, and my sofa was a goblin. Yeah, i had a wild imagination.

  • @SylvesterTailsWaffle I swear Tolkien gave me my imagination too.

  • yeah i reli want it

  • The Hobbit was one of my favourite films as a young boy. Thanks for this!

  • Is this available on soundtrack anywhere? I can't find it!

  • There was a soundtrack, but it was on an LP. Not the most convenient medium in these days.

You'd have better luck just ripping the songs directly from the movie, if you can't find them for download anywhere.

  • Never mind my earlier words. You can find the songs from the OST all over on the internet, and downloading them shouldn't be difficult at all.

  • @Thunk00,

Youtube members can download videos right here on YT; 10 per month. Free. Best regards, A.

  • This is great! I love this song and it's always cut up while watching the movie. And here it is uncut. Thanks for posting!
