possibly my two top bands together here, certainly the best two i have seen for pure energy and commitment, every penny well spent paying to see the clash and the levellers. . hope to see the levellers again, wish i could say same about the clash ! R.I.P. Joe
how have they sold out? they just sold for a while, theres a difference between being successful and selling out, they never once bowed to the music press, still true and still going strong
And headlining a concert in August (Devon I think) in 2009.
Trouble is it costs a ton per head for the 3 days. which isn't bad value for 3 days but I'm not so wildabout most of the other bands on the line up (well, those which I actually know).
Beautiful Days is a truly great Festival. There's so much going on that it doesn't matter about some of the lesser bands. People happily share their weed, the beer is cheap and the coppers wear spangly wellies and turn a blind eye!
Great band their live set blows most other bands away (even when so drunk they can hardly stand). Plus these guys are the most genuine musicians you'll ever meet - they're always really friendly. The greatest band never to have sold out .... you *REALLY* want to see them live if ever you get the chance...
and i never paid to see em in the early days...cos thats just what it was like before they got a bit of recognition never sold out..fook me they even started playing theatres
Yes. They make money. They then spend a lot of that money on good causes and supporting up and coming bands - worth the price of a ticket I think.
By 'the onl;y true traveller' are you meaning that in the sense of 'seem to be committing treason' traveller or some hippie transcendental ideal. Either way I think you've kind of missed the point. Try thinking about the name of the band and the history of that name and I think you'll realize the comment was more than a bit asinine!
People dont get how i like bands like Lamb of god and divine herasy which is death metal and i also love these. I went to my first levs concert when i was 8 it was gr8!
The old ones are still often the best, and this one was going for over a hundred years even before the clash got hold of it. Many slight updates, changes of words here and there to keep it relevent, but this version stands up with the best.
I was there. Glastonbury in the early 90's Me mate rich had a bad ankle so had to stay near the mixing deck and marvel at the dancers on the roof. I was at the front - Awesome.
Johnny's coming home....... Johnny's herrrrrrre! Absolutely brilliant song and band !!

I agree, and I think it's the addition of the fiddle and other folk elements. They also seem to play it with way more energy.

So few with any real raw energy, same with Nick and Roy Harper just kicking against the awful mainstream.

wtf they are one of the least sold out bands to come out of England! they stand against all that bollocks
They don't need it as the only thing they sell out are their shows

Dust the cobwebs off and they'll rock too.
