Didn't say you were from the US, I said its for a simmilar reason the US still uses older weapons. They work and are nearly as effective as new ones. AKMs have the advantage that ammo is everywhere - unlike standard NATO spec ammo which is hard to come by in Afghanistan.

Georgia broke the ceasefire - Georgian soldiers killed many people and destroyed many homes - Georgian citizens, not only the ones living there, had to pay. Peaceful spells different, I'd presume.
