@sladejam I believe they called Slade's music genious. No KISS without Slade thats stretching it. If you have the clip of them saying this I would love to see it.
16 albums and counting is what I have .. they have a wide range of music and a lot of soul, I met them 1991 for their 25 year anniversary party/convention. Im a fan for life "C"
Ya right Groovysongs, they wore the docs and braces during their skinhead days. They started wearing the chequed trousers and platform shoes after they changed their image.
Just so happens, when platforms and rupert cheques etc came into fashion slade and other glam groups made them popular so everyone started wearing'em.
My first pair of platforms were black and dark orange, lol, not many people wore'em till Slade hit the scene then they just took off, later revived by the Spice Girls.
Quiet Riot did a great cover of this song.. Alot of future Slade fans that were introduced to Slade through Quiet Riot's version of this song. If they had not covered it, there's alot of them who wouldnt even have given Slade the time of day.
If pill-raddled clubbers can lay claim to euphoric trance, this non-pill-raddled oldster (I just got high on life!!) wants to lay claim to this euphoric rock!!!
LOL at all the faggots complaining this is much better than Quiet Riot when the two versions are virtually identical, except that QR had one of the all time classic 80s guitar solos. But yeah, QR was a joke band and got nowhere with their own songs.
It really pisses me off when the Quiet Riot fans diss Slade - without Slade's songs Quiet Riot would be NOTHING - they only had two hits, both nicked from Slade.
It is just a crying shame that nearly all the video footage of Slade is cheesy Top Of The Pops miming with outrageous glam outfits on...
What were Quiet Riot doing in 1973? Their homework, probably.
I saw Slade live and comparing them with Quiet Riots live gigs (lots on youtube) - Slade would have blasted their bollocks off ;-)
If you thought that was loud, you should have been at the Palladium in NYC in 74 they were at least 130DB loud! The bass was intense enough to crack plaster, powered by eight Acoustic 450B's.
only Kevin hated their music. The other members liked it and they new they could make it big off Cum on Feel the Noize and Mama Weer all Crazee now. And if it wasnt for Quiet Riot Slade would have never come back as big as they did in the 80s.
@brunocf7 They hated the fact that they needed to copy 2 Slade songs to make a breakthrough. Of course you are not telling to the world that 2 covers are your best 2 songs. Are you getting it now? BTW I am not interested in QR, rip-off merchants, low quality.
Almost all music on tv at that time was mimed. However Noddy actually sings duet with himself here cause since he overdubbs his own vocals with live vocals.
I love this song.
This video is so awkward, the clothes and hair are one of my favorite things about Slade. It's so weird and awesome and confusing.
