The history guys could use pipes and beards. It would of been so much more funny if they would of been all serious stroking their beard while talking.
FOURTHLY: "Footage from the actual battle" time for a reality check, I think. The only 'footage' were glass plate negatives taken afterwards by Matthew Brady and his entourage. FIFTHLY: Do you even grasp with your incessently small knowledge of this battle, the fact that this helped set the stage for perhaps the most famous Eastern battle of all time.. Gettysburg.
FIRSTLY: This was a fucking end of the year project for our US History class, containing inside jokes, class references, etc. We did plenty of research and this is very accurate, but fun was our main goal here. SECONDLY: Actual footage? Yes, we were obviously trying to play it off as it the footage was actually Civil War. Whoops, you caught us. THIRDLY: You ignorantly insult our "incessantly small knowledge of this battle," and force us to beleive that you're some brilliant proffesor of
Civil War history. FOURTHLY: If you actually are a professor of Civil War history, which you very well may be, it's pretty damn pathetic that you're sitting on YouTube criticizing a sophomore in highschool's US History project.
@atforpresident from haynes1776 If you guys mean well, why did you potrayed yourself as drug addicts? The Civil war was no laughing matter. I had ancestors that fought in the war and I am not going to disrespect their bravery and sacrifice by potraying my self as an drug addict and a imature human being. A true civil war re-enactor is a living historian who does more than dress up as a soldier, he educates the public on what these men went through.
Haha I think this guy needs a does of life... and maybe some sun (I doubt he gets out much). Anyway, you really gotta calm down. This was a high school project that was largely for fun. In case you forgot from the last time you read the dictionary, fun is "what provides amusement or enjoyment." We had fun making this video - thats all that matters. Now stop ridiculing High School kids' projects and go so something more productive and less creepy
@PeterJ555 whatever! You kids think you know everything. After watching that clip i was not convinced at all that you ment well. When I was your age, instead of making a fool out of myself like you, I took the time to read about the civil war and american history. I wanted to learn more for I was interested and intriged by it and it struck my interests to learn and hopefully be a living historian so that i can educate the public and honor the memories of those brave americans. youre the fool.
FIRSTLY: General T.J. Jackson's flanking march occured later in the second day of engagement, after Lee and Longstreet pressured the Union left at the Hazel Grove near the now destroyed Chancellor Inn. SECONDLY: It was the XI (11th) Union Corps on the right end of their line, under Oliver O. Howard, who had lost an arm earlier in the war. THIRDLY: Do you even have any idea what occured on the evening of day two at around 9:30 PM?
@atforpresident from haynes1776 You kids are all lame, the same for your project. Dont bother serving in the military with your total disrespect for the real heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for us to enjoy the freedom that we cherish so much. from the american revolution, the civil war to today, they are real american heroes, unlike imature fools like you.
@haynes1776 Hey man, I don't know why you are so angry about this. This was well-intentioned and there was NO disrespect intended. Your hateful reaction is unbelievable ignorant and uncalled for. You do not know us at all. EVERY person involved in this video has PERSONAL connections to the armed services. My family has a long history of military service in active combat zones. Do not lecture me about serving my country
@PeterJ555 I really hope you mean that. When I was a teenager, when I was doing book reports about the American Civil war, I did not acted like an idiot and pretened i was on drugs. And I have relatives that fought in the war, and i want to honor their service and sacrifice with respect. I gained knowledge by reading. "knowledge is power."
@haynes1776 Members of my family have served in the military and had ancestors that fought in the Civil war and I am very proud of their service, but I will not dishonor them by mocking what they did. So, do not lecture me either about serving my country.
I did not find this clip very funny. The civil War was no laughing matter. this is an insult to the men who fought for what they believe in and were willing to get blown away to achieve that. I learned about the war by reading and expanding my knowledge. thats what these civil war magazines are for. I buy them all the time. If your going to do a story about the civil war do it with respect, not act like your gay or on drugs and make an ass out of your self! F plus and two thumbs down!
@haynes1776 I agree I'm a Reenactor this is not funny 2 of my ancestors were at Chancellorsville 7th Ohio Co E 12th Corps and one was in the 11th corps 107th Ohio Co D. They all fought bravely and deserve far better respect.
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776 i got your message. What these kids did was very imature. They did mean well, but potraying yourself like a drug addict in this was totally uncalled for. These kids have no morals
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776: My uncle's great-great grandfather, isom, served with the 54th mass infantry and my uncle and cousin were re-enactors were in the movie "Glory." It is one of many reasons I want to get into civil war re-enacting: to honor them.
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776 Hey, thats cool. My uncle's great-granfather name is Isom Ampey. He had a brother named Thomas, who bear the regimental colors of the 54th mass at Ft Wagner. Thomas was killed just as the 54th reach the fort's walls, and thats where sgt Carney picked up the colors and despite being wounded badly, he crawed back in the darkness back to union lines. He said the whole time "the flag never touched the ground."
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776 the 54th mass lost half its number at ft wagner. the regiment went on to fight in many more engagements, including Olustee,Fl
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776: Im not familiar with Flora of the 54th. I wll look into it. Also how long did your ancestor served with the 107th ohio and did he survived the war? What town in Ohio was he from?
@haynes1776 1st Sergeant Harrison Flora later 1st LT joined the 107th know as the 5th Germans from Stark County Ohio. the 107th build Fort Ward in Alexandria in 1862 until being sent to the 11th Corps. they were on the extreme right part of Deven's division McLeansBrigade the faced South where Von Gilsa fasted west. the 107th lost 200 of 300 at Chancellorsville. they were at Barlow's knoll at Gettysburg where they lost near 400 and had 133 left, my ancestor was wounded in the thorax
@AmericanCWOVI sgt Harrison Flora was a very brave man and served well in the 107th ohio. his service and that of my uncle's great-great- granfather was not in vain.
@haynes1776 after because of so many casualties they were sent to SC and fought at Wagner Island No 10 Folly island, later they went to Jacksonville and where also at olustee FL. my ancestor survived having been 21 when he enlisted.
@AmericanCWOVI from haynes1776 thank you for sharing this with me. Being from ohio myself(Columbus) I have passed thru many towns were some famed ohio regiments were formed. there was a brigade called the ohio brigade at chancellorsville: was the 107th ohio a part of that brigade?
@haynes1776 YES! the 25th OVI, 75th OVI, 107th OVI and 17 CT
my other ancestor there was in the 12th Corps 7th Ohio "Roosters" they are afamed regiment and served well they did every theater east and west lost both commanders and from 1006 came home with 240 men. The Roosters were on culps hill and then in Georgia at Mission ridge and Ringgold. then NC
@AmericanCWOVI very impressive. From what I know the ohio brigade suffered heavy casualties at chancellorsville. has the brigade fought in any other battles? Fell free to drop me a line anytime. its been great talking to you.
@AmericanCWOVI Wow! 107th Ohio took a beating in the war as for the whole Ohio brigade. That reminds me: Of all the regiments that were raised, why didnt they get new recruits to fill the battered ranks. I know the 54th got replacements consisting of recovering wounded. The same went for othere units
@2ndky from haynes1776: we are better people than these kids for we do not take freedom for granted. i will not disrespect my relatives and ancestors that gave their freedom and lives for this country. I wont.
