yeah my friend is actually australian but everyone in japan seems to think he is japanese. even japanese people stop him and ask him for directions constantly.
By the way - the wiping the face thing is strictly an oyaji thing. Girls REALLY won't be impressed if their date grabs the shibori and immediately wipes their face with it. Strictly for hands.
Dude! Using your oshibori to wipe sweat off your face is bakagaijin 101. I don't know how you guys roll in Osaka but in Tokyo it's totally Hin Ga Nai.
what do u do with those towels that they give u, do u keep em? and also, this questions is out of this vids topic, but i was wondering, do Japanese ppl especially the youth, r they in tune with their countries history and are they loyal to their country, do they know a lot, and do they feel hate towards the ppl of other countries that have quarreled with japan in the past. in every vid i see, they are nice to ppl, but the whole ww2 with america, do they hate or forgive for the past bombings?
lol not everyone is always stoked to be in front of the camera. i think at times i really annoy my friends with this hobby, but oh well, i like it too much to quit.
I don't know that much about Japanese food, specifically, so I just want to ask; Is cheese a common ingredient in Japanese dishes? I don't want to sound like a picky little kid, but I hate cheese, and it's so common in meals here in North America.
qchome is right. not alot of dairy going on here. its also really hard to find import brie etc...also most japanese ive asked hate milk as well, but yogurt seems to do ok here.
Ah 梅酒 I had some in Niigata. Wow, strong stuff. At least the one I had. Thanks unrested! I've only been to an izakaya once. And I was with a bunch of my extended family and we were sitting next to some guys drinking it up. We had a blast. We talked about Manny Pacquiao of all things because of what they knew about the Philippines apparently that's the first thing that came to mind. Love the FAQs and how you're quick ur pumping em out!
you can wipe your hands down too of course. I see some japanese even go so far as to wipe down their entire arms and the back of their neck as well. personally i just do the face and hands and i am good.

what's the average cost of a meal in japan?
RedPhoenix230 2 years ago
i would say 3500 yen
unrested 2 years ago
@unrested 35$ is pretty pricey for a mel imo, although if you're talking high class it's understandable.

The one time I had izakaya in Saitama, the strangest thing that came out for our large group was raw horse meat. Was a bit chewy to say the least!
Have you had any odd izakaya experiences in terms of the food?

i love izakaya's lots in my city Vancouver, BC

if you're ever in a non english speaking country and you see english writting on the menu...my advice is for you to run away real quick!
qchome 2 years ago
why
JehxOne 2 years ago
jehxone
the locals know where the authentic food is,and they don't need a bilingual menu.
Also(not saying osaka),some places have 2 menus...one in the native language and one in english;the menu in english has higher prices!
qchome 2 years ago
Comment removed
JehxOne 2 years ago
Really, higher prices? haha Suppose that gives the gaijin more incentive to learn the language!

Are the restaurants in JP pricey?
Coming from NYC the city has restaurants charging like ridiculous prices for food.
AjikanPanda 2 years ago
izakayas tend to be really reasonable. on average you will pay 3500 yen to be very well fed and to have a good amount of drinks on hand as well.
