"If there's any one word in the English language that I hate, its 'Self'". Wow, a self-hating Xtian comes right out and lays it out on the carpet right at the beginning! I'm a bit amazed right there.
@MsGingergingercat At least we "Xtians" don't take things out of context. You know as well as I do that Hyles meant a selfish life rather than actually hating yourself. And indeed, living life only for yourself without regard for others is an empty depressing life.
@Noble12Warrior, Bwahaha.... ""Xtians" don't take things out of context." Modern Xtianity is based on nothing *except* taking things/verses out of context. Remember, yr Bible is 66 books combined. You take a bit from this book, combined with a bit of that book, oh, and lets add a bit of Revelation as well.... context be damned!
@MsGingergingercat Yeah I take that back, many Christians (the proper term) DO take things out of context and end up teaching a lot of weird stuff. But the fact is that you still totally misunderstand Hyles when he talks about "self". Either that, or you're just a troll, in which case your comments will be removed and you will be blocked. Have a nice day.
@Noble12Warrior; No trolling here, but I stand by my original comment. No, wait, let me revise it: I'd write it 'amazed and amused'. Granted, I didn't reach the end of the thing, but I do understand the whole Xtian concept of replacing/remodeling "self" to be "more like Jesus". PS. "Xtian" is perfectly acceptable insofar as Chi in Greek is the first letter of "Christ", and with limited characters replacing six letters with one is economical, no?
