  • New Zealand invention guys... we have a record from 1927! The best you aussies can do is 1940. SHAME! :)

  • The first MERINGUE pavlova recipe was published in New Zealand in 1927.

The first MERINGUE pavlova recipe was published in Australia in 1940.

  • The Pav is as Kiwi as the Kiwi fruit is. LOL

  • Made this recipe - it turned out great. Didn't know pavlova was so easy. Many thanks.

  • @Patutahora1 Awesome! Thrilled to hear it....Yeah the trick is the temperature :-)

  • @bluehatway :-) Thrilled to hear it!

  • @Patutahora1. Yeah, I was always under the misconception the pavlova was "mission impossible" too. You're welcome!

  • The meringue pavlova is AUSSIE.

Wikipedia -> The Oxford English Dictionary states that the first recorded recipe named "pavlova" was published in New Zealand in 1927.This was a multi-coloured gelatine dish.

So the name pavlova which was a multi-coloured gelatine dish is Kiwi,

but the meringue pavlova is AUSSIE.

  • Meringue pavlova is aussie. The original kiwi pavlova was a multi-coloured gelatine dish. (wikipedia) not meringue.

  • The pavlova we know today is aussie (created in 1926). The Oxford English Dictionary states that the first recorded recipe named "pavlova" was published in New Zealand in 1927. This was a multi-coloured gelatine dish not the aussie pavlova we know today made of egg whites. "wikipedia"

  • This is the only Pavlova recipe that became crusty on the out side and chewy in the inside for me. Easy, simple, the best Pavlova recipe!!!! Everyone just loved it.

Thank you very much for posting!

  • what's 'vanilla sugar'?

is there any alternatives? like vanilla essence or something..

    thank you

  • Vanilla sugar is suger that has a slit oppen vanilla pod in it! x

  • Sure, you can use pretty much any variation of vanilla ´- essense (few drops to quarter of a teaspoon) or crushed vanilla seeds...tried this the other day with great success.

  • i thaught pavlova was australian?

  • Hi,

Research shows it is a kiwi dish - check it out on Wikipedia.

  • Ok, thanks for the information! This is my favourite recipe of pavlova, it is also the simplest on the whole internet!!!!!

  • @CasualTutorials Cheers!!

  • @bluehatway Hard out also came on tv3 news gosh when will they get it through there thick head

  • @bluehatway

Wikipedia states that it's un-confirmed who first created the dish.

  • @CasualTutorials mate its a kiwi invention, just like Jet Boats, Split Enz/ Crowded house, Phar Lap and Dargon to name some. Get educated aussie, they brainwashed you guys in school lol

  • If you don't add the whipped cream does it just become a meringue then?

Tried this with passionfruit and mango...delicious! Thanks for the video.

  • P'fruit and mango sound delicious.

Never really considered it :-) I guess, but a meringue that is hard on outside. The cream and fruit give it sooo much though.

    Cheers.

  • Yum, this makes a bigger one than my recipe (which I just uploaded a video of) I'll have to try it. :)

I also like pav with a tin of boysenberries, they're quite tart so it balances out the sweetness.

  • Nice one - really pro. Cool music and loved the "Beat it" lyrics. Awesome idea with the coffee - definitely gonna give that a whirl (soon :-)

Yeah the toppings are pretty limitless I guess.

  • Nice one - really pro. Cool music and loved the "Beat it" lyrics. Awesome idea with the coffee - definitely gonna give that a whirl (soon :-)

    Thanks.

  • Thanks. The coffee was not really my idea... my mother used to make coffee pavlovas when I was a kid and it was my favourite kind.

  • My fav . Very sensitive at times if correctly not made it can be a disaster, Yummmmmmmmmy

  • I had one of Bluehatway's Pavlovas a couple of days ago and it was absolutely amazing! He's the master of Pavlovas ;-)

  • why did the shape change after you iced it?

  • The actual shape doesn't change...it just gets kinda rounded with all that yum cream - remember don't ice it too long before serving eh? .. it'll go soggy if you do :-(

  • Lol. Nice. I agreee!!

  • What does Pavlova taste like?

  • It's a marshmellow, vanilla maringue flavour,,,hard on the outside and soft inside. Amazing...try it!?

  • Hi. Sorry to hear that. What sort of egg whites did you use?

Strange that it didn't thicken at all...Are you sure that no yoke crept into the mix and that your whisk was 'clean'?

  • My pavlova was a disaster. Went straight into the bin. Despite whisking it with an electric whisk for forever it never thickened enough. Please advise
