  • En ese aeropuerto solo deberian aterrizar patos

  • @EDGARDVIGIL Yeeahh el salvador baby!!!!! Yeah

  • siemka czesiek

  • I remember driving in Tegucigalpa and freaking out everytime I saw a plane that close!

  • that will be on that plane someday

  • flying into cuz peru is amazing

  • I've made this landing on that same AA flight six times. The hill that they fly DOWN to get to the airport has been blasted out of the way but its still the most interesting landing you can make on a scheduled flight. Take off is a real trip since they stand on the brakes and firewall the throttle. The wings are bucking and then they let go and ZOOOOM! If you have a full load and its hot you land twenty minutes later at San Pedro Sula to get enough gas to get to Miami. These guys do it daily.

  • Second most dangerous airstrip in the world.

  • The L.A. Galaxy Team were afraid to land here

  • @IDV84 It's true they diverted to San Salvador.

  • Wow... this landing is so amazing it looks almost like a computer...

  • I would be there all day...

  • Honduras might have a bad run way but our life style ist diffret from all ya life so y don't ya shut the fuckk up and enjoy the fuckin flight

  • so im assuming that was textbook....

  • that troll is just trollin or just stupid or blind

  • @Alexmur98 - Why do you think it's a fake? I didn't take the video, but I've stood there watching planes land. The video makes it appear that the runway is shorter than it actually is - but it is a very short runway & to land safely & successfully, pilots need to touch down at or very close to the "impact zone", which is the set of white lines. What makes this even more challenging are the surrounding mountains, requiring a somewhat steep approach, usually with a wide turn.

  • @Alexmur98 - Additionally, this video has been up for 4 years with 2 1/2 million views and hundreds of comments, many by persons who have landed here, including a number of pilots. You're the first one to suggest it is not real.

  • @roysf and accoriding to his username he is only 14/13 years old. So what does he knows about it.

  • @roysf I totally agree with you that this is real, having landed at this airport in 2010 it was quite freaky and looked exactly like this video.

  • @Alexmur98 you're a dickhead, you can only say a video is fake if you actually think it is with proof, just because this is impressive doesn't mean its fake?? you're one of those buzz-kill guys that tries to find shitty things in everything, im so glad your getting abuse for this

  • Wow, outside view looks scarier than it does inside the plane! I've flown in to Tegus 7 times now, twice before the runway extension and 5 times since and I enjoy it every time. Might be a bit nervous in the rain, though. Pilots always warn that it's an abrupt landing, and usually explain that they have lots of experience and land there regularly. Still get a big applause from the passengers every time.

  • @tjjohn1001 that is our reality my friend but comalapa airport in el salvador my country is way better, is the best of Central america come to visit us and enjoy some pupusas

  • I'm so f*cking tired of having this video in my recommended.

  • That is some skilled piloting.

  • anyone else notice he touched down before the displaced threshold?

  • @raph4485 yes, it's been discussed. it's okay for a pilot to do so. the only reason its there is because of obstacles on the approach. as long as he doesn't hit them, he is fine to hit the displacement.

  • @raph4485 yeah, it looked like he was extremely low throughout the whole approach.

  • flight simulator 2011 full free dwd: /watch?v=4pLnhlJzArk

  • 38 piolits are afraid

  • Now there's something you dont see everyday!

  • I wonder how in the hell that 757 can take off?

  • Fab landing, well captured. Just seen a documentary here in UK about how dangerous/hair raising this airport is. Amazing.

  • Holy Fuck, I allmost Shit In My Pants ! Cool Video Send More

  • Horrible design for an airport, but then again tegucigalpa is in a mountanious area.

  • what's the reasoning, an aerodrome in a goddamn hole?

  • @sneakyguy: Let me guess, you failed math?

  • If you are a pussy don´t land in Toncontin, it´s the airport of the bravest !!

    pussies jejjjeeje

  • OMG, this makes me feel so much better landing in San Diego. lol

  • Now shake that lump from the seat of your pants...

  • Ke Mierda dE Aeropuerto,,

  • fantastic

  • Hmm.. Sounds like a good prank. "Okay. Alittle to the left. No, your other left. There you go. Thats it. Hold it right there!!"

A minute later- Your buddy is laying on his face, covering his head, or holding his ears shut.

    P.s.- be afraid ;)

  • Be afraid...be very afraid.

  • Sounds like he had strong wind from the left. He needed to step on the right rudder. He landed little side wise. It is hard approach. Too many things coming at him at the same time. As for people watching..have fun..I would love to be there to watch every airplane landing....

  • This airport sadly has claim a passenger plane today, Feburary 15, 2011 (my time zone).

  • I live in that city. Holy crap do my balls shrink when I have to land in toncontin.

  • well you are standing next to a runway what did you expect to happen......

  • Before they extended the runway the plane landed about 20 meters from a main road, they had stop lights on that road and would make it be a red light when a plane was landing so the cars didn't get in the way of the exhaust of the planes!

  • dat ass 00:24!

  • Crazy airport

  • Wooooooowwww! Scary exciting!

  • Dios mioo!! nunca jamas volaré a Honduras. Es un suicidio absoluto

  • Wow! I guessed that pilot who was assign this route pissed off somebody in his company higher up food chain.......

  • nice

  • Omg. This airport looks dangereous.. I agree that the pilots must have balls of steel to land there..

  • Approach in Toncontin:

Pilot: Passengers, we are on a risky situation, the aiport we are going to land has a very difficult approach, we decided to land nearly to this airport, in another. Thank you

ATC: AA321: Justin Bieber is on the runway! Repeat Justin bieber is on the runway.

Pilot: Passengers: We decided to land, it's worth to take the risk.

  • why don't planes just land on the other side instead of the risky side??? o-O

  • @bombardierdude15 Well theres a bigger mountain on the other side lol

  • @bombardierdude15 It's worse the other direction. I've made this landing on this very flight several times now and you do get used to it sort of. Going the other direction gets the wind behind you and makes things harder to stop. Landing as shown above gives you a cliff to run off of if you go too far. Coming the other direction means you get to crash into a hill. Not good.

  • @bombardierdude15 they have done it and it is less risky ( less mountains and hills ) but i think it has to do something with the wind. baah dont listen to me ( though it is less risky haha)

  • I've been there 3 times, twice before the runway extension! I don't know what was scarier, landing there or the Pile of junk TACA puddle jumper I flew in from the island of Roatan to the mainland!

  • Pilots should have been with balls of steel

  • is it just me or does it sound like a tiefighter when it flies past

  • On that airport, you are a good pilot or you are a dead pilot. There is nothing in between.

  • Lousy set up for an airport. That piot did not waste any time touching down. Good job

  • shit that shit waz fucking close

  • I have ridden a plane into Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and what the video doesn't show is the narrow slot of a valley the pilot must navigate BEFORE landing on a runway that drops off sharply at one end. If the runway has been extended, I still think there would be a steep angle at the same end.

  • madness... i have no other words...

  • WOW. That is extreme. And...awesome!

  • can you say reverse thrust!

  • someone has a skill

  • Perfect spot for al-Qaida! You can't even get closer to an AA Jet. All you need is a bazooka....

  • That pilot is a beast !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man the guy greaed it too-nice freakin landing. Bet he had to have the seat redone after

  • I've landed at that airport and it's one he'll of an experience. Power take off's and landings. Balls to the wall.

  • This is NUMBER 2 on Worlds Most Extreme Airports. Featured on the History Channel.

  • @sonofmabarker whats the Number 1 ?

  • @sonofmabarker surely no. 1 must be Paro,Bhutan??

  • wu!!!!! i will be on that this december!!!

  • The first time I see earthen glideslope o_O

  • this is so awesome to watch cuz thats where im going in 2 weeks i hope we have that pilot!

  • @breynolds71 If you are flying American airlines through Miami then you will at least have a 757 which is the biggest thing that lands there. I've made this landing four or five times now and you get used to it. The first time I was seated next to a Honduran lady who was furiously crossing herself and praying as we came in. Be sure to clap and cheer after landing. Everyone else usually does. :)

  • I don't think this airport could accommodate airplanes bigger than an A330, B757, or B767.

  • I think you dont need only a huge pilotskill....You really need BALLS!

  • nos vamos ahi todos los años

  • WOW

  • It's not that it "looks" too short. It IS too short. This is one of the most dangerous airports to land in. There's a pretty big hill blocking the plane's path and Tegucigalpa is almost completely surrounded by mountains. I'm Honduran and I refuse to land in that airport.

  • This Pilot is a Hero

  • Maybe it's just the angle, but that runway looks too short.. especially for takeoffs.

  • @colty77 lol its no the angle the runway is short lol

  • @colty77 Take offs are different. The pilot stands on the brakes and firewalls the engines until the wings are practically flapping. Then he let's it go and Whooosh! Last time I was there it was very hot and we had a full load so they couldn't get enough gas on board to get to Miami. We made about a twenty minute flight to San Pedro Sula on the coast and gassed up before resuming the trip. First time I had that happen.

  • how much higher was that plane than the spectatos?? Seriously!

    God!

  • wow...can you imagine landing a plane there with tons of crosswinds????

  • this pilot is a god of pilots

  • Wow.

  • QUE RICO SEMIRA ESO PARA PATINAR

  • Mis respetos para esos pilotos!!

  • I've been there. Really it's no big deal. These pilots show that if they can land there they can land anywhere.

  • Typical American Airlines pilot.

  • Don't be afraid? You're standing in the flight path of a 757. Shouldn't you have thought of that before you decided to stand on a friggin' hill waiting for it to fly overhead? LOL. That comment always makes me wonder why she's telling the other people to not be afraid? What, like it's gonna crash into spectators on that day? LOL.

  • @jakfuki - friends assure friends when they're together doing something with an increased level of risk or a perceived higher level of risk. e..g. bungee cords jump, zip line, parasailing, or under the landing approach of a plane where you'll feel the plane is getting way too close for your comfort. Maybe this time the plane will come in too low, who knows? Years ago, the landing gear hit the roof of a bus crossing on the highway that goes by the beginning of the runway.

  • @roysf

the bus was hit prior to when I first went to Honduras in 1983 and the driver was in jail then, so it was siad. I've been on the spot where these people were standing and it looked crazy close, but planes were probably at least 100 feet overhead, likely much more. Anyway this spot where they took the video from is long gone, bulldozed away to extend the runway a bit, but it's still a very short runway with a challenging approach.

  • wow

  • q bello

  • que piloto la puta madre

  • When was Toncontin airport built? It seems like it was built for the propeller-plane age rather than jets.

  • @WhiteCamry hmm well by 1950 it was already there so yeah its quite old actually. AND they didnt really built it in the right place, maybe at the time it was but now with the huge airplanes and them getting bigger ehh. but seriously its no big deal, i dont really know what the fuss is about. im honduran and ive landed there my whole life.

  • el aeropuerto mas peligroso del mundo

  • what's the ILS like for that airport?

  • @citonelson There is no ILS for the airport its a VOR/DME approch

  • @citonelson I believe it is VFR only. I've made this landing on an AA757 several times and while it's not quite as wild as it looks it will get your attention. Take offs are the fun part. The pilot stands on the brakes and runs the engines up until the wings are bucking then lets her go. ZZZOOOOOMM! As soon as we clear the mountains I doze off until Miami. It was very hot last time and we had to land in San Pedro Sula after about twenty minutes to take on a full load of gas.

  • Holy crap, that one hell of a turn before landing. Not to mention the quick decent.

  • PERUVIAN AIRLINES IS THE BEST AIRLINE IN PERU

  • holly fudgedssss!!! no wonder the plane when we land when all crooked men i should it know it thats what happen when u fall to sleep and wake up on the middle of landing well it want AA it was taca

  • I think he was waaaay to low in other vids the planes don't come that low...

  • This landing was nice, in between the two white dots and dashed stripes. If the landing is after the dots, at the end there is a 65 ft cliff awaiting. While this airport has now been extendend, it still a little scary. Want thrill check out kuhla in Nepal, gateway to Everest, people there pray before and after taking off and landing. The run away is landing uphill and taking off downhill. Only small crafts go in and out. and it was paved in 2002.

  • I landed their with my then 12 year old daughter in 1998. She looked at me like holy cow dad.

  • when approaching a tenocntin, the trick is to carry plenty of speed going of the hill, when you clear it, use roughly half airbrakes (varies to speed) to cut altitude with a little throttle to keep approach speed, when near the runway threshhold, flare early, and apply more airbrake. when about to touch down, realease airbrakes for a smooth touchdown. then use reverse thrust and full flaps, with full airbrakes.

  • @Boieng747obsession

Um, no. May work a treat on flight sim but I think you'll find full flaps are on long before touchdown depending upon height, weight and traffic conditions (max speed atc will give etc).

  • @Boieng747obsession Why would you deploy speed brakes when you are on approach 500ft AGL. That would be the most stupid and dangerous thing any pilot would ever do especially maneuvering around terrain like that. Also the last thing you want to do is increase Vref speed. Doing that will cause the chance of overshooting the runway upon touchdown due to the higher ground speed or overshooting the turn to align yourself with the runway.

  • honduras

  • honduras voo desgraçado

  • everytime I pass near the airport I get the feeling that 1 day an airplane will fall over meo_O !!!!! anyways the infrastucture conditions are not available, really sad, I think a pilot that can land there is someone to admire!!!!

  • it's a pretty short landing strip don't you think?

  • @NKSU35 They hit the breaks harder than you knew the plane was capable of.

  • More than a landing... it's a parking...!

  • @Combattoino hahahahah you are right

  • wow

  • i have flight simulator so i know thats a bad aproch

  • @nathanfishing3000 it's not bad you idiot

  • @nathanfishing3000 wake up men this is real life not a flight simulator very stupid men

  • some one said don't be afarid yes but if i was on this flight and after getting down

i would smoke a whole pack of ciggrates

  • @coincollectorindia

    me to ;)

  • @coincollectorindia Check out my videos on The World's 10 Most Extreme Airports. Toncontin is #2 and with good reason. :-)

  • @sneakyguy99 i saw alreadyi was suprised cause i have landed

    at that airport 4 times

  • @kingmarco301 Three accidents at that airport taking 135 lives since 1989 and it handles less than 600,000 flights a year. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland, Ohio... 0 deaths since 1955 (when I moved there). They have over 11,000,000 flights a year. Toncontin Airport is the most dangerous commercial airport in the world.

  • he olmost hit a guw wow

  • dan landing that pilot stink

  • Holy crap! Not for me thanks...

  • I have been on this ride before it was very scary indeed. They say only the best can land it so you know your in good hands. LOL

  • ouch bad landing pilot

  • @nathanfishing3000 What?That was a good landing!

  • @nathanfishing3000 actually, it was pretty normal landing

  • @nathanfishing3000 what the hell do u know about flying, that was a good landing!

  • not going there anytime soon.

  • im from honduras and the government there just wants to take money. they dont care about other people. there poor to so they really dont bother to fix that airport.

  • f*** that displaced threshold! i'm plantin' this beast.

  • Glad I'm not on that plane

  • so dangerous

  • That`s why we (yes, I'm from Tegucigalpa) proudly say we've got the best pilots in Central America.... I mean for cryin`out loud, they actually learn in this runway....

  • @Damakel you cant say it because they learn the runway but you can because that shit takes some balls i want to be a pilot and id well give it ago (im from ireland, not sure flight time).

Anyway you lot defo can say that but other pilots do it as well

  • @allboeing mmm u have a nice point, they sure learn it and others may do it too... but let me mention that all the accidents that have occurred here were foreigners... I know it's mostly my Honduran pride but hey bare with it, it's just Central America not the world... oh oh and we do have among the best fighter pilots in CA winning by far the only air battle in between CA countries (Honduras vs El Salvador) but hey!, there again it's just CA.... XD BTW, best of lucks on getting your license!

  • @Damakel well thats like me saying all the accidents at the airport in which ill be training where foreigners it doesn't make us better, you have to go over an international airport landing path and back into an army take-off path then over a mountain then turn back into another mountain with bogs on all making it easy for crashes to become fatal.Due to that you have to train on all 3 of those airports

Every year an average of 5 cesna's crash into one of the mountains but all are foreigners.

  • @Damakel and then when they are on track heading to eastern europe(irelands western europe) after all the mountains there only about 2,500 feet which is approx 600/700 feet above the mountains and within about 15 minutes they will be over the irish sea so its dangerous but it only comes close to honduras but we do have crosswinds nearly every single day of the year even in the summer so our pilots are used to landing as normal in crosswinds.

  • @Damakel oh and thanks for the luck but its funds if anything getting in the way(well my rich uncles friends friend owns the airport i want to train in,that might help funds!).

  • its so freaking close to the people yet he lands it so fraggin well
