  • Leslie is my Uncle. Still lives near Manchester.

  • Who the hells this lot, masquerading as the ivy league, they must have bought the rites to the name

  • Anyone concected to this wonderful group should be extremely proud, they provided a musical backdrop to people growing up in the 60s, and you had to be really good to survive back then with so may great artists around. So may I say thanks for all the memories that your family gave to thousands of people with their own very special brand of music.

  • ONCE WATCHED A NORTHWEST GROUP CALLED THE CRESTAS, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE GUITARIST WITH THE HIGH VOICE NAMED LESLIE SANG WITH THE IVY LEAGUE DURING THE 60S HE HAD A GREAT VOICE AND HARMONIES DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM THINK THEY WERE FROM MANCHESTER.

  • saw the at WIDNES brilliant ,and very funny [ drummer].

  • Its always a pity when one of the original group passes away, but thats life especially with the 60's groups. They cannot go on forever, its a pity that they cannot. Music will never be as good.

  • saw this group at Austin Club Birmingham on Saturday 4 Decembeer 10. Still going strong and good sound. Support act Trevor Leeson of the Merseybeats. Good Singer and guitarist too.

  • Yorkshiredrummer - Did you get a chance to play with Jimmy Page? I read he backed-up on several Ivy League songs.

  • gods singin'

  • Saw these in Solihull, well worth seeing, keeping the 60`s spirit going.... Very good musicians.

  • This is not the original Band. Perry Ford was my brother in Law. one of the others was called Johnny Shakespear and was related to the playwrite. I forget the name of the other one. They all stayed at my Mothers House in 1961 I am a drummer and I played with the Yorkshire Jazz Band at the time and that night we both had gigs in Liverpool . mine was at the Cavern with the Beatles as support group and the Ivy league played at the Iron Door.

  • @Yorkshiredrummer They were awsome. Thanks for your info. I didnt think that was the origanal line up.

  • @Yorkshiredrummer Hi uncle!

  • @spikelet Hi Spike

  • @Yorkshiredrummer if that is true - it is a pitty and should be puished. An insult to the true Ivy league - gods singing ... But the song amd intention is good !!

  • @Yorkshiredrummer

Dear Yorkshire Drummer. I knew Mark Ford and Charlotte when we were children together. Is there any chance that you would be able to put us in touch? I spent a lot of time with your sister Sharron and Perry your Brother in Law when they lived in Kent, before they moved to the USA. I live in Yorkshire now. Regards Carina

  • Are they the same that i have on my album in 1965 , when i was 14 years old , it was a birthday gift from my mother , greetings from Amsterdam .

  • One original I think....The guy on the right could be the lead falseto of the original group.......They were absolutly brilliant...........John Ford is missing. Saw them in Bradfor UK 1972. Wife has the original "Pye" LP with their autographs in eye brow pencil...

  • @maltblossom It was Perry Ford, my dad.

  • @spikelet.....Yes I found out later it was Perry Ford (His stage name) You must have been very proud of him......I think he allowed the follow up group to use the name "The Ivy League"......Thanks for your reply

  • @maltblossom He did indeed support the cover band's efforts. I have a picture of him, backstage with the current lineup. He just loved music so much - he didn't care who was playing it, as long as they did. I miss my Dad very, very much. I love to see comments on here - it's like he's still around. Cheers.

  • @spikelet...... Got it all now...from the wife.......The original group was Carter, Lewis, and Perry Ford......Carter and Lewis went into session work and amongst other hits wrote and produced the "Flower pot men" with " Let´s go to San Francisco" Perry carried on with the New Ivy league, and then retired......In Memory for Perry..... RIP.

  • The best singing drummer who ever lived: Chris Curtis of this one:

The Searchers - This Empty Place

Check him out! His voice covered every range possible. Sadly, he is RIP.

  • Good performance.

  • really great !!!

    Incredible !!

    God bless you !!!

  • Singing drummers might be rare but one as good as Dave is even rarer. They are an AWESOME ACT.

  • ther'e not the original, but the're a brilliant live band.

  • singing drummers are rare
