The reason why X720 will have a 6670 is because MS are going for a more interactive & motion control based console, MS have stated that the X720 will be smaller than the X360 and more affordable at launch. MS are not intending to make a big leap in graphics and stuff but concentrating more on the interactivity between the player and a game. This pretty much puts the X720 in direct competition with the Wii U, this maybe hard to believe but its true. Hopefully, the PS4 will be a hardcore machine.
I don't really mind with the graphics card. Just with the price tag and very secure protected system. Doesn't have to be like OMFGBBQ graphics. Just a very polished console...

@supervegito2277 Even though console support a native res of 1080p they revert to ~640p when playing games and then upscale it to 720p. An HDMI won't actually help you that much, the regular green/blue/red cord will get 720p also.
Many people think a 60Hz or greater 1080p television will actually help them lol. I doubt it will even be useful for next gen with a 6770.

MS and Sony are giving a gen for Nintendo to catch up. Considering how the economy has gone it's a good move for them. No point in doing what they did last gen at launch... selling $500+ consoles for $400 and hoping that people would buy enough games to offset the loss by selling the system at that price. @ordersol1000 ok... shooters are only enjoyable on pc where you can actually get a dedicated server with decent latency + there is no aim assist so they actually take skill. RPG's are way better with keyboard and mouse, so there's no power wheel, and loading screens don't take 1 minute to load every time you enter an exterior cell. PC has all the games consoles do minus uncharted/gears only we also have RTS games and MMO's for all the dorks out there.

@ordersol1000 i used to play console alot and there was one thing that always ruined the experience online: lag. Before I understood the whole dedicated servers vs playerhost based matchmaking debate I always blamed my own connection. Turns out the problem was that several players within the round(s) would consistently have very low latency when viewed by pressing the scoreboard button. Unlike dedicated servers, it only takes one player with a bad connection to ruin the round for everyone.

@AcesGamer The reason why they do that, like with the CPU core is because Consoles don't have OS's that Multitask. When you run a game under Windows or Mac the OS is still running with other Programs still running at the same time. But, with a Console The OS can turn off making the game the OS with no other programs running, only the game. That's why Consoles have less cores then Computers do.

even with 100's of processes running in the background, an average pc's cpu can load 4-5x faster than a console. I can run an antivirus and play intensive games at the same time no problem.

Excellent way to put it all. I'm very surprised they are pushing ahead with a next generation console for what appears to be the shortest incremental jump in capability we've ever seen.
Sony has their own little quirks that I find annoying, but at least to me, their ten year commitment to a given generation makes sense (by comparison) and seems to work well for all involved.

I don't really care about graphics all that much. If only the X-box 720 could create good developers and publishers that arn't money hungry pieces of shit I would be happy. Microsoft did this by paying AMD a shit load of money, so that they would have a top of the line console, then undersold it, even that they lost money. They tried making there money in software. But, the Underpowered Wii was to much for them. The wii got 1st place, Xbox 360 got 2ed and PS3 got 3rd place. Even the the GPU in the over priced PS3 was a joke.

@D3w10n if they came out with a 590 equivalent it would cost problably $800 when it first comes out once you include all the other hardware and accessories so thats why they cant put in a top of the line gpu however you dont really need a maxed gpu to play the latest games you can still get by on the 6500 series

@Razer1103 its an asus laptop, gtx460m/I5-2670qm. Desktop is built custom with cheapo foxconn mboard, gtx460 OC'd 850MHz, AMD athlon X4 635 OC'd 3.2 GHz, antec neo eco 620w psu, stock case from about 8 yrs ago with holes drilled in it with added fans lol.
I went "budget" with the GTX460 ($120) and the cpu + AM3 mboard ($65 + $46) b/c i new next gen would come out soon. Looks like i don't need to upgrade still! Many of the other parts were salvaged from a techy friend for well under $200.

The problem is that the 360 had a very modern GPU that was as powerful, or more powerful than the best PC GPU in 2005. Console makers sell their consoles at a loss in the beginning, so they can build a powerful console. Don't forget, what costs us $200 would cost Microsoft much less.
The 360 was very successful and I don't see why Microsoft needs to gimp the new console. People will pay $399.99 for a new console.

PCs do have great cards I have a 555 myself but I do think if Microsoft could want to have swappable cards on their next system they could do it all those cards are modified off the rack cards but then again they are modified so they could make a system with custom swappable cards and put drivers months ahead in system updates
Well, I can safely say I don't actually give a damn about this because I just plain don't like the Xbox line. Beyond that, I don't see why people really care about their games looking better and more realistic, it doesn't add to the actual gameplay and in several cases point out the flaws of companies focusing on graphics.
That's why I prefer Nintendo, where graphics are good enough and gameplay tends to be interesting enough to get me halfway there.

Guys, Xbox720 games will be specifically optimized for the Xbox720 hardware. Even if it will have HD6670 for it's graphics card, the Xbox games will get steady 60FPS in 720p no problem because of code optimization. PC games are not optimized and they are made in a way so you go out and buy another graphics card because the old one is depreciated by game coders and publishers *intentionally*, this makes the industry going - kids that buy $400 graphics cards every year.

@ebayusbids The reason PC's can be swapped is because of the customizable resoloution settings on PC games. This wouldn't work for consoles (or not very well) because of restrictions consoles have. If the 720 is released in, a card from 2016 isn't going to work because the hardware won't work with the card. Besides, PC's will always more powerful because some graphics cards are PC exclusives.

@ordersol1000 ok... shooters are only enjoyable on pc where you can actually get a dedicated server with decent latency + there is no aim assist so they actually take skill. RPG's are way better with keyboard and mouse, so there's no power wheel, and loading screens don't take 1 minute to load every time you enter an exterior cell. PC has all the games consoles do minus uncharted/gears only we also have RTS games and MMO's for all the dorks out there.

@ordersol1000 i used to play console alot and there was one thing that always ruined the experience online: lag. Before I understood the whole dedicated servers vs playerhost based matchmaking debate I always blamed my own connection. Turns out the problem was that several players within the round(s) would consistently have very low latency when viewed by pressing the scoreboard button. Unlike dedicated servers, it only takes one player with a bad connection to ruin the round for everyone.

@AcesGamer The reason why they do that, like with the CPU core is because Consoles don't have OS's that Multitask. When you run a game under Windows or Mac the OS is still running with other Programs still running at the same time. But, with a Console The OS can turn off making the game the OS with no other programs running, only the game. That's why Consoles have less cores then Computers do.

Excellent way to put it all. I'm very surprised they are pushing ahead with a next generation console for what appears to be the shortest incremental jump in capability we've ever seen.
Sony has their own little quirks that I find annoying, but at least to me, their ten year commitment to a given generation makes sense (by comparison) and seems to work well for all involved.

Microsoft did this by paying AMD a shit load of money, so that they would have a top of the line console, then undersold it, even that they lost money. They tried making there money in software. But, the Underpowered Wii was to much for them. The wii got 1st place, Xbox 360 got 2ed and PS3 got 3rd place. Even the the GPU in the over priced PS3 was a joke.

@Razer1103 its an asus laptop, gtx460m/I5-2670qm. Desktop is built custom with cheapo foxconn mboard, gtx460 OC'd 850MHz, AMD athlon X4 635 OC'd 3.2 GHz, antec neo eco 620w psu, stock case from about 8 yrs ago with holes drilled in it with added fans lol.
I went "budget" with the GTX460 ($120) and the cpu + AM3 mboard ($65 + $46) b/c i new next gen would come out soon. Looks like i don't need to upgrade still! Many of the other parts were salvaged from a techy friend for well under $200.

The problem is that the 360 had a very modern GPU that was as powerful, or more powerful than the best PC GPU in 2005. Console makers sell their consoles at a loss in the beginning, so they can build a powerful console. Don't forget, what costs us $200 would cost Microsoft much less.
The 360 was very successful and I don't see why Microsoft needs to gimp the new console. People will pay $399.99 for a new console.

Well, I can safely say I don't actually give a damn about this because I just plain don't like the Xbox line. Beyond that, I don't see why people really care about their games looking better and more realistic, it doesn't add to the actual gameplay and in several cases point out the flaws of companies focusing on graphics.
That's why I prefer Nintendo, where graphics are good enough and gameplay tends to be interesting enough to get me halfway there.

Actually, the difference between 720p and 1080p is only visible from closer than 30cm from the screen, with a >40" TV.
If the Wii U actually surpasses the current generation of consoles regarding the graphics, it would be able to run games like Battlefield 3 and Crysis.

Mindless fp/s's which are basically recycled from older ones and just filled up with shiny DX11 effects that you don't even see and are only good for bragging about them online and add nothing to the gameplay are not something I want to see on my console.

Guys, Xbox720 games will be specifically optimized for the Xbox720 hardware. Even if it will have HD6670 for it's graphics card, the Xbox games will get steady 60FPS in 720p no problem because of code optimization. PC games are not optimized and they are made in a way so you go out and buy another graphics card because the old one is depreciated by game coders and publishers *intentionally*, this makes the industry going - kids that buy $400 graphics cards every year.

Who is to say that this card cannot be swapped out in a few years like Pc's today if that is the fact then this card actually makes sense considering they will take time to max this card out on Consol and then we can just upgrade which would make everybody happy that they don't have to upgrade their Console and another for five years most people nowadays know how to change out and Xbox hard drive imagine if our future Xbox graphic cards can be changed out as easy this would actually work and

@ebayusbids The reason PC's can be swapped is because of the customizable resoloution settings on PC games. This wouldn't work for consoles (or not very well) because of restrictions consoles have. If the 720 is released in, a card from 2016 isn't going to work because the hardware won't work with the card. Besides, PC's will always more powerful because some graphics cards are PC exclusives.

@Pintopinata you do not have to have a graphics card in order to use graphics processors they can bee built into the motherboard of the console which could also be responsible for video output just like you dont have to have a video card in a computer if your mother board has chipset graphics processor on it only difference is adding the video card will make it run better.
