I've already got 22 rabbits, and boy oh boy!!! are they ever fucking!! 1 month,il have a few hundred!!! I have 6 bad ass pit bulls! Im o go tell all my homies! niggas gonna bankrup this kracker redneck country!!
This is a good thing and I am all for it and yes luloops people will take advantage that don't own pets but then who doesn't cheat in some way on their taxes. The rich get tax loopholes and the poor get paid cash.. take your pick.. It will help a lot of pet lovers keep their pet. Ironzello you are a pompous ass there are a million or more illegals that don't pay taxes in this country right now and never will...so who cares if my pet pays taxes later on..I pay for them..
I am all for the new tax credit. especially for people like my cousin whose dog was epileptic, needed some surgery that cost over a damn grand. I think that would be a great help. I personally spent over 1k on pets I've owned for health reasons. But I do beleive they would need a way to keep it from being abused. Because people will till no end. Like proof they own the pet vet bills something.
He makes perfect sense, get the money back to the people so that the federal govt has less. Yeah it sounds crazy on the surface but any way we can get our money back from the criminal federal govt is good.
Our dollar is dangerously low. Jobs are leaving this country faster than we can blink and eye. People have lost half or more of their retirement. Our government has left our soldiers out to dry in Afghanistan. Now some of our representatives want to give a $3,500 tax break for owning a pet. This is insane and McCotter should try to fix the real problems we have! Owning a pet is not a necessity, it is a choice!
i'm 100% in favor of lowering taxes, but favoring certain groups over others is what got us into the 1000+ pages in the tax code now, end the insanity. Cut taxes for everyone, cut spending more, and save the USA as we know it. GOD bless America.
Why is this stupid and a waste of time? What's stupid is when people breed these poor creatures and don't see to it that they go to a good home. It's not the animals fault. The good hearted people that adopt these animals need a break. Especially when others have to give them up and SOMEONE needs to take care of them. What's stupid is people that don't understand this
This is a wonderful idea. Watch the clip, the congressman does a very good job explaining his proposed legislation. He addresses many of the criticisms made in the posted comments. Thaddeus McCotter 2012?
Yes, but the child doesn't choose to come to the world, parents "choose" to have children.
By giving education, health care, etc. we are not giving services to the parents, we give services to the human beings who are in need, but are not able to provide for themselves yet!
yeah, both pet ownership and having children are choices that individuals make. That's where the similarities end however.
There's a few practical differences, especially where the government is concerned. You see, kids don't stay kids forever. At some point, they grow up and begin paying taxes, something your dog will never do.
The state thus has a compelling interest in helping you raise and educate your kids. It's an investment, the kids today are the taxpayers of tomorrow
that's the practical difference anyway. There's then the moral difference, and if you need me to spell out the moral difference to you, I seriously question your mental health.
Yea, finally for those of us who choose to have pets instead of children. We pay property taxes and other taxes that support others desire to have children-why shouldn't those of us who choose pets & are responsible pet owners also get some tax breaks? At least we aren't adding to the overpopulation of the planet.2T
"we pay property taxes and other taxes that support others desire to have children-why shouldn't those of us who choose pets & are responsible pet owners also get some tax breaks?"
Because those kids will be paying your SOCIAL SECURITY SOMEDAY! That's why! Your pets never will, they'll be long dead by then.
And no, having 1-2 kids isn't adding to the overpopulation of the planet. 2 parents having 2 kids = no growth.
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Bowser, in a baby carriage. Where does the insanity stop? Ok, I could see it for working animals like seeing eye and companion dogs, but come on, $3,500 a year. Isn't pet ownership a choice not a necessity?
what an amazing idea. I work in down town L.A. there are so many tradgedys related to animals & homeless animals in the area. This would empower me and give me an incentive to help them even more. This must pass! I would give my last dollar to help an animal before eating so this means a lot to me.

We'd need fewer tax breaks if the taxes we paid were used effectively.

is that the most appropriate/original adjective you can think of? That word is so abused these days that it's depressing.
Can't think of anything to say? Then just say "ur ignorant" and you'll automatically win the argument.... right?

Finally something /useful/ is possibly being done.
Next question does it cover *just* dogs and cats?
Or anything people consider as a 'pet'? I KNOW there shall be loopholes, catch 22's and rules O.O

How do your get a loophole with proof of a vet bill unless you work at a vet clinic...

I like this idea but my concern is people that have no business owning a pet would take advantage of this and not really care about their pet.
