i think its in the processof going f2p..at least in EU anyways.it really is an amazing game that is a one off..has the guy says..no load screens at all,crafting is the best i've ever seen in any game..the poor release was its downfall really,but saying that,it does not have any gamebreaking bugs at all.its beautiful on max detail,and i would recommend this if you want a challenge,because it is hard.

Vanguard is still going strong, new updates was really cool especially if you are an old school palyer, new overlands are Tharridon the Mighty ( renton keep ring a bell? ) and Zakiirnis the great Wyrm, along with a new Group dungeon with a couple new raid mbos there aswell, second update seems to be even cooler. We also got some nice class tweaks. All in all this is a great game, only one to hold my interest.
They killed the pvp server. the game only has like 3 or 4 raid zones and magi hold is a joke. VG = Dead... This is the word of The one and only. I played this way back for about 4 months after it's release. At the time it was buggy and you needed a beast to run it. That didn't keep me from enjoying it though. What I think hurt it the most was soloing was pretty brutal. I loved Diplomacy and the way trees fell when you Harvested them and Profession gear:) I wish they had delivered on their promises. This could have been Special. I was hoping it got better:( 5 years in WOW could have been 5 years here. I chose VG over WOW: TBC at the time.
Vanguard is not dead. There is still an avid player base. It may be small, but it is dedicated. And they have promised us at least two updates this year, so it is a good time to come back and relearn the game, or to play for the first time.
Vanguard was a great and beautiful game. There was just no story to keep me playing. I was sad when I got too bored to continue. I loved my Wood Elf Druid.
Generol's rant sunk this game. Anyone who played at release and beyond know what I am talking about. I still get chills thinking how much destruction he threw down on this game.
@medcsu You are correct sir. This is by far the best MMO ever to be created besides some of the classics. Hackers (lots), a hasted release date, and not enough updates ruined this game. I only wish there was a greater playerbase instead of 500. The creators have totally forgotten about this masterpiece, i'm sure if they spent a heavy amount of $ on reviving this game it would be amazing.
@Makmakmak2 After reading your response I looked on the net at all the BS involved in VGs downfall. Man oh man was there a lot of BS. If you need me to link to you (you seem like you are intelligent so probably no need) I will. In office affairs, Generol's (Triton's Leader) rant, 90 percent of the team being called into a PARKING LOT and told "youre fired". Wow....Pretty safe to say it's good SOE took it over.
@Makmakmak2 It had potential, that is for sure, but it's done. There is really no way it can compete with WoW or soon to be TOR with all the prior issues it has dealt with. I was really hoping it would pan out, but it was simply disgraced internally which is sad because the content was pretty good. I simply see now way they will ever be able to lure gamers.

at this point i have been told that you can petition to switch servers to Telon b/c of the pop size.
if the rest of the EU community could switch then Telon would in effect be an EU server. sorry that its become like that but there are still enough of us at odd hours in the US as well.
find an active large guild there are still a few left that have been taking in remnants of other guilds.
played this 3 years ago, pop was still good, then recently Vanguard went 45 days of free playing time, i download the game again, but whooww, no one is pretty much on, there are some people, but yeah, you can imagine, probably not more than 400 people is on

Ich liebe dieses Spiel. Ich musste damals wegen viel Arbeit aufhören und habe dann erstmal andere Spiele ausprobiert. Auch SWTOR, Rift etc.
Nun habe ich wieder VG angefangen und ich finde noch heute: die Spielmechanik ist einfach die beste und schön fordernd.
Es ist sehr schade, das SOE ihm nie eine Chance gab, da es um Welten besser ist als EQ2 und ein würdigerer Nachfolger von EQ1 war.
Ich habe alle 4 Accounts reaktiviert und freue mich auch den Charactermove nach Telon!

No the game isnt free to play, there is a trial of the isle type deal which is free for 14 days I think it is.
Im currently reinstalling Vanguard now so will be covering it some more on this channel since I have upgraded my PC.
