I have the solution the problems many of you are having (if you can't get your taskbar to appear)

it's because you need to open registry editor (task manager>new task>"regedit") then make sure that it opens up with ur new explorer.exe

it is

run>"regedit">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHI­NE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows NT>CurrentVersion

there you have to double-click on "shell" and change the value to whatever you renamed ur new explorer.exe

This tutorial isn't for windows vista. And windows vista doesn't even have any text on its start button.

well first off i'd like to say thanks for the help it does work for me.. i tried it once.. and crashed my computer.. but then i fixed it well i'd like to say.. you can shorten your steps.. don't have to press ctrl alt dlt.. etc.. just go to start menu.. run.. type regedit and then you click "shell" open that up and edit it from there...

I think it sometimes doesn't work because some windows automatically replace explorer.exe if you modify it. So then you would have to turn that off which requires some other download.
