If you read the CVR transcript, from the time the pilots were first aware of smoke it took 3 additional minutes before they prepared to land. While I agree that there's a chance more passengers could have escaped if given 3 extra minutes to do so I'm not so sure they would have actually had those extra minutes even if the pilots had descended right away. The fire had already built up combustible gases in the cabin. It was the injection of oxygen after opening the doors that set them off.
ASAP WAS Cincinatti-NK airport, louisville didnt have anything close to the firefighting equipment that C-NK had, and a plane can descend only so fast, even with speedbrakes...so...it aint like our cessna's that can land in a thousand feet anywhere we damn well please, they need an airport...give them a break.

I don't cry too often but when the wife of the man who helped that passenger tracked her down and asked her of him, I "got a bit of dust in eye." Such a tragic accident.
the god saved that woman with the bible...what a fucking bullshit how can she say something like that??? what about that 23 people who burned to death?? they were sitting next to that fucking book...
@zombiezombie1977 I agree with you... I don't think it was a ''god-saved-me'' story, but mostly a coincidence, that she took a place closer form exits than the others that died on this flight... RIP 23 dead...
@zombiezombie1977 You'r right, Christians are such hypocrites!! I can't imagine why anyone of the right mind would want to continue to worship a god that would stop a book from burning but not 23 innocent people.

How could these pilots be so stupid. Even as a student pilot I would know to land ASAP!
