  • Beautiful.

  • What is it about Mali that makes so much of their music so resonant. I hope there will be peace in the Sahara desert one day and I can go there.

  • I saw this on swedish tv when aired, thanks for uploading, I wouldn't usually encourage uploading copyrighted stuff, but this is so special and different, that it should be on the UNESCO world heritage list.

  • the hairs on the bk of my neck and arms raised up. signaling some sort of cognitive breach. lovely music for the psyche.

  • @Xanctus it gave me the same effect

  • God knows I cried listening to this..

  • This is where I want to do my dissertation.. God bless your soul Ali.. and may Imam Ali himself ensure that you're safely tucked into a bed of gold up in Heaven..

  • Well I am not Muslim and don't know who the Imam Ali is but I hope he will also give him one golden guitar to play some of this beautiful music to all the good guys up there!

  • am not sure u speak the language. so am going to tell you what he is singing about :)

"my love , talk to me"

"oh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhh ohhhhh, my love"

that it, nothing about GOD in here.

  • I know what the theme of the song is :) I was just replying to mehmus and he was giving blessings to Ali Farka Toure, so I joined in. By the way, is there anything more divine than love?!? :) I would appreciate if you could write the actual lyrics to this song (not the translation). I know how to play it on guitar but I have to mimic the words so I sounds different every time :)

  • well, i dont know how to spell the writing of language BAMBARRA. the words are spelled differently the actual "a-b-c-d-e...z"

they write it differently. i only know how to speak it.

  • well improvise then:) I am from Bosnia and we have a writing system where every sound has its letter. We use modified standard Latin alphabet (ABC...) so the "Diarabi" would be "Đarabi"(Djarabi). If you are from Afrika* (you probably are since you understand Bambarra) you could try to use standard spelling you use for your native language. I will probably decipher it. Thanks any way! * this is how we spell Africa in Bosnia

  • @m6m17 do u notice the purity of this music and how it manages 2 amaze me despite ur FAILED attempt 2 turn it in2 a "nigga moment"??

  • @CushiticSomalianMale

    why so much hate?

  • ameeen fam... insha Allah he is in the highest of the 7 stages of Allah's paradise.. Amiiiin!

  • or if anyone knows how to play that

  • i cried. i'm crying. somebody please post the lyrics in english. the beauty that lives in us *sigh*

  • This language is Malinke or Mandingue which is spoken in over 10 countries in west africa.

  • what is that language?

  • probably one of the mande languages or songhai

  • It is Bambara, a mandé language.

  • Yes, this video was shot at Niafunke'. The great Ali Farka Toure used this site on the edge of the Sahara as a recording studio in 1999. He recorded his LP "Niafunke" there. Yes, Both Boubakar Traore and Ali Farka Toure look very Royal as they walk through the main building at Niafunke. A beautiful tune written by "Kar Kar" Traore. Thank you for sharing this lovely tune.

  • One of the most immaculately woven acoustic guitar compositions i've ever heard. I ordered "Je chanterai pour toi" just for this.

  • if i remeber it's not far from Niafunke

  • don't they look like kings? So regal. I wish I was west african!!!

  • hahaha right ?

  • Very powerful music

Thank you very much for posting this - I have been searching for it for a long time.

Do you know where they are in the video?
