try taking the bass and mid to 10 and the treble at 0 and depending on how bright your guitar is set the presence between 5 -10 and tell me what you think!
as for the statements made about where guitars are made...your only partly right, but there is no such thing as a chinese Gibson, ESP, those are exclusively made in the US, the LTD's Epiphones, even Fender have them made in other countries to their specs...there are literally hundreds of factories pumping out these types of guitars in China, Indonesia, Korea..etc. and many faked like those Epiphone Custom Les Pauls all over eBay, you want a USA made guitar...your gonna pay!
"high" gain? the Marshall my friend has, a JMP 100 watt..which is around 4-5 on the volume knob, dimed out it would be around 180 watts.. the Burgera 1960 is rated at 150 watts max wattage...companies used to rate wattage at "max" then went to RMS so it's safe to say the Bugera 1960 is a 100 watt amp RMS. And what the difference between 180 and 150 watts? Nothing to speak of for sure...I believe the 1990 is 120watt max wattage rating... making it maybe a 75-80watt RMS amp.
Hey man, awesome review, im really interested in this amp, im only 16 but guitar and music is my life, is this amp worth the money? im looking for somthing like a JCM with allot of different sounds so blues, metal, punk, classic ect? would this amp be a good choice?
@anthonygnr I prefer the Bugera 1960, with a Weber Mass 200 attenuator it sounds like my 1977 Marshall JMP 50w head. But I am thinking of having a PPIV master volume installed. I never liked using distortion pedals... also he needs to stop those weak VH taps....
Great review one of the best tones I've gotten was a 1990 and a metal muff roll back the bugeras clean gain and find the sweet spot and it will do 6505+ tones.
@VetoGTR I know I'm not the dude in the video, but if it has to be a Bugera, then you're gonna want to get the 1960. It's basically a Marshall 60's era Plexi copy. If you're wanting to get that AC/DC sound, you're going to want something like that, plus a solid body guitar with PAF style humbuckers, and you're gonna need to turn that amp up REAL loud. (As in, clock how long it takes for the cops to show up-loud).
@VintageburstStandard Actually, with the new 1960 Infinium, they added a PPIV master volume and some other stuff that should enable you to get more crunch out of a plexi-type amp without blowing out your eardrums.
@staple765 Actually thats not true, Gibson does have some guitars that are made in Japan..they are limited to Japan though, very few are imported to the US. :)
@thatguyfromthatday ok, but are they considered "authentic"? Don't think anyone's gonna pay what they would for an American one, and I am pretty certain that Gibson wouldn't want them here being sold as such.
@staple765 They are officially licensed Gibsons, but yeah..they are limited to being sold in Japan because Gibson USA makes way better quality guitars. I know that there is a limited edition Les Paul doublecut custom classic thats made in Japan and imported, but thats the only one I know of that Gibson imports regularly, otherwise they usually just keep the guitars made in other countries sold out of the US.
So Bugera had corrected the plastic clip melting problem. Great, now all we have to wait for is, Quality tubes to be put in the bugera 1990. Hopefully very soon, Do you know when that will be fixed Max. By the way great video for this amp, I really want to buy this amp. All I am using is a crappy solid state Amp Marshall 250 DFX, its all I got. I will be putting my self on you tube soon me playing guitar. Van-Halen/Metallica and also play some of my own stuff.
I kind of doubt that they will ever actually do that, even though it would be awesome. It would make their manufacturing costs go up and I'm sure they don't want to raise the retail price with the economy as bad as it is. Too bad though. I think the Bugeras, older Peavey amps, and Carvins are the best amps for the money.
Good stuff here. I've been looking for a demo of this amp being hit with an overdrive that has a decent sound quality and this was it. Sounds better to my ears than the dual reverb 900's I've heard. And nice touch with the Q&A...useful info paired with calling out the loudmouths so common on youtube. Nice job
if i buy one brand new will i still have to change the tubes?? ive heard there version of tubes arent great

It's worth the money for sure. Just make sure to get one that's made with the last couple years. The early ones did have some issues.

Hi, Max.
Do you think this head would resist touring?
TheGuitarbound 1 month ago
@TheGuitarbound
Would it surive touring? Maybe, if treated gently. Any tube amp will have problems if it gets thrown around all the time.

Very nice sounding amp. Enough gain for me even if it's not "high gain" by some "standards".

Glad to see someone still remembers Loudness!
How would you compare this Bugera to the actual Marshall JCM 900?
Thanks for the demo.
nstygatr 4 months ago
@nstygatr
The Marshall is a little more "honky" sounding, this one has a bit more high-end.

Hi! Which one of these Bugera heads do you think would give me the best classic rock sound? AC/DC has always been my main-influence as a guitarist.
I appreciate any feedback!!
