  • I'm sorry, this is a really beautiful song and everything, but I cracked up when I heard "His head looks like a melon." XD

  • This is an extremely blatant ripoff of Hyperballad. I just lost a lot of respect for Yoko Kanno. I don't mind small bits being borrowed as long as their rebuilt upon, but this is such a copy.

  • @TheBackseatJesus

Yoko borroughs alot from different types of music. She is not copying other artists but incorporates styles into her own repertoir, much like a musical chameleon.

Listen to her works for Vision of Escaflowne. She quotes a whole bunch of composers like Gorecki (shadow of doubt), Orff (black escaflowne), Ravel (Revenge), Gregorian Style (Escaflowne Theme). If you know the composers those influences are highly obvious - as is her genius to combine and revive.

  • @snufkin789 And "geniuses" in music don't directly copy things as a whole. They may borrow certain elements, but as I've said, this goes beyond that. The only thing she may be genius at doing is getting away with it. It fucking angers and sickens me significantly that her fans could stand by this shit.

  • @TheBackseatJesus she cant get away with it if its a copy she has to ask the people who originally wrote the music can she get permission to do anything with it or else she wouldn't be able to use it. and she is a genius considering a lot of the music she has done is really good to a lot of people.

  • Far superior my ass.

  • omggggg, been looking for this song for the past 2 hours!!! <3

  • How beautiful.. :)

  • This is a fantastic piece. The only thing I thought could improve it was perhaps if Graziano's accent wasn't so thick, but apart from that, perfect everything!

  • Wonderfully wistful lyrics

  • The ocean leas to happiness my dear Lllaria Graziano

  • im so jealous of the guy who dates ilaria graziano(singer of this song)

  • I haven't heard this in years and am going through a pretty rough time this song held my hands as I cried out in sorrow <3 Yoko is a beautiful human being ._.

  • sounds like hyperballad, by bjork :o

  • @salmonelas123 The background twinkling is identical. :/ It's a crime, really.

  • @salmonelas123 I've listened to both, and even if it was borrowed from Bjork , this is far superior. Hyperballad seemed to lack that next level, was kind of flat imo.

  • @NinteenEightyNothing Even though I love Bjork's song and don't agree, I do love this song much more. It's much more personal in my opinion.

  • I just cried, and im a grown ass man. -_______-

  • Love this song..

  • This isn't an emo song and you depressed losers cluttering up these comments should go kill yourselves. This song is along the lines of, "the net is vast and infinite." lols, emofags are so stupid.

  • @mezzuzushii lol I'm going to repost what you wrote and then, like a coward, deleted.

Everyone reading this: he posted the following.

@TheLifePerfect you must be looking for attention...look i dont care what you of me or anyone else...but i get tired of worthless scum like yourself talking shit...so hey...another thing...''do you know me?'' personally? well anyways people lie you are the reason abortion should be enforced...so fuck off or whatever...

    Continued in my next post.

  • @TheLifePerfect Part Two of @mezzuzushii's mental break down

....am i sad or lonely??? to answer your dumb ass questions and remarks....i feel fine as ever...anyways,,,go fuck yourself! ASSHOLE!

    The End!

  • @mezzuzushii Cya never; lonely masochist. Keep beating yourself up! (-.0)mV

  • @mezzuzushii Yep, I am. Aww, don't get mad because I don't have to live in your silly world. (0.-)mV

  • The sun is cast in shadows and im the one who's fading I ask but no one knows the answer to the question my life is like a melon where does this ocean go.

  • I still don't get all the emo depressed people posting in this video, maybe if this was a sad song but it's not. Just goes to show, too many people are too stupid to look past the surface. Oh well, they'll grow up one day.

  • It's the reaallly chill song playing in the background of that episode

  • What the name of that song where that man goes in to the bathroom and shoots those girls I'm not sure what episode it is but ikno he's carrying a brief case and he had glasses :/ anybody know?? Plllzzz i've been looking all over for that song...

  • yoko kanno rocks my balls off.

  • i couldn't agree this is better than Bjork's "Hyperballad" but it is very good.

  • nice

  • holy shit.

  • an incredible song. incredibly powerful. Quite different vibe from hyperballad I'd say.

  • PLEASE CHECK OUT MY BREAKS RMX OF THIS-I PROMISE YOU WILL LIKE!

JUST TYPE --CYMANITE Ghost in the Shell - where does this ocean go breaks remix-or go to my page. thx

  • @cymanite1 hey your remix to this song is really good bravo indeed i subbed dude check his out too its really kick ass

  • This song reminds me bjork for some reason.

  • ok honestly... I went to junior high abt 10 yrs ago, and our marching band anthem had the beat that sounds exactly the same as hyperballad if you dont analyse it. That anthem was created even before hyperballad was created. Now, did Bjork copy our band's anthem then? Come on, be rational, a lot of songs used beat similar to this dont say that Kannou copied bjork's beat. If a bunch of Indonesian junior high students in the 80s could come up with this beat for a band, chances are its not original.

  • who sings this??

  • @MizterizE i'm pretty sure this is Ilaria Grazanio i can't quite remember though but it'd make sense as her vocals are used in several other songs throughout the GITS OST's

  • @taintedwithblood2 tank yhu !!!!

  • love this song, deep and yet funny at the same time.

  • Um...this sounds rediculously close to Hyperballad...I knew it reminded me of a Bjork song.

  • the song's bassline reminds me of the peaceful ocean.

  • this song turns dogs into marshmallows? shit...

  • Wow...me and my dog were listening and my dog went from a ravaging beast into a marshmallow like almost instantly. Very amazing song.

  • @mezzuzushii does the same for me too, almost like viewing what she's saying from a bird's eye view

  • Ghostly bassline...

  • Reminds me a bit of "Hyperballad". Gorgeous layers.

  • @Yvning this one i like more

  • I don't know why, but this song makes me sad.

  • beautiful song

  • @ther901 how exactly does it relate, I see no reference of influence. I'd be really interested to know to how you think it relate

  • What can i say...good is not enough to say it....it just....i love it

  • This song and the woman's voice is beautiful.

  • oh wow i really need to buy this ost these songs are just amazing

  • I love Illaria Graziano's voice. =)

  • She is indeed amazing. Just like whole SAC soundtrack. ^^

  • Can you give me other examples of songs that sound like Yoko's songs please ?

Just to see by myself ;-)

  • search for arjuna ost

  • actually, it IS a bjork cover. Bjork is given credit on the GITS album (according to another video submitter).

I disagree, though. Many of Yoko's songs are her own.

I can only think of a few (later songs) that sound rather similar to other songs.

On the contrary, I've heard she says she listens to a lot of other music...

  • Ooh, I love the low frequency sound you hear with the headphones on! Hyperballad has a killer one too.

  • I think her voice sounds lovely.

  • Just for those who are listening through their open PC speakers, put your headphones on. It sounds much better! The song has a baseline I never knew existed and I wouldn't ya'll to miss it!

  • @dstrong712

    ah~ i see what you mean. cool~

  • @dstrong712 yesssssss, i remember the first time i really heard the bassline with headphones...really gives the song depth (no pun intended.)

  • @pianoman0420 Yeeeah You understand maaan! G'stuff G'stuff! Have a Green Thumb.

  • @dstrong712

No offense, but your speakers sucks if you have to put headphones to hear that.

  • @kazuyaum They do suck :-p I just want everyone to hear all that I heard. That's Love man and You know what else is Love: If You buy me some new speakers :-p

  • @dstrong712 All the times I've heard this song I have yet to hear a baseline. But I always have trouble hearing the bass in music.

  • @watchmefailit I'm sorry You failed at hearing the baseline, but You didn't fail at giving someone your attention and for that I Think You're Awesome Man!

  • @dstrong712 i do that each time it gives me chillsss :)

  • @dstrong712 Yeah, all these songs sound 10x better w/ headphones

  • @Stillwater900 yep i love listen in my car speakers i have 15 inch sub and sounds so amazing dude

  • Both this and Hyperballad are gorgeous in my opinion. :D

  • Awesome!

  • It's called being a composer. When you're a composer, you sample OTHER works and make it your own. No matter how you look at it, I think she mad the some better.

The vocals and melody of this song are much better. Yoko Kanno took and refined the song to make it better in every way.

  • That's nice that you have your own opinion. But Yoko Kanno isn't a hip hop artist. They sample, not composers. Not to mention there are dozens, if not hundreds, that she has "sampled" COMPLETELY. I'm guessing you never even knew Bjork's song before you heard this.

  • The reason I say this is because I HAVE heard Hyperballad before, so that thought is invalid. But I see where you're comming from. I wasn't the one who posted the first comment, so let me calrify some things. I like Yoko Kannos music, yet I am aware that she has taken from MANY artists. I enjoy this song over Hyperballad, along with many other of their songs (Yoko Kanno is a group) to the originals, but I understand what you're saying about taking music.

  • i like it but i much prefer Bjork's hyperballad to this Yoko. the production is great but I don't think I'm a fan of the vocal. Frou Frou would sound nice on this track.

  • no offense to bjork fans...but this is infinitely better than hyperballad...

  • None taken!

This is seriously breathtaking. I don't think Hyberballad can compare to this.

  • @pianoman0420 bjork is drugged up hippie crap that's weird just for the sake of being weird.

  • @pianoman0420 Fan of both, but I prefer the original. Opinion does not equal fact, btw lol.

  • @SweetZombiJesus Original? This is a completely different song to Hyperballad. It doesn't remind me of hyperballad at all because they sound nothing like each other.

  • @Tanshiniza Yeah I was responding to someone who referred to this as a remake of a Bjork song, so I responded in a way he would understand.

They are similar, but this one doesn't rise up to a crescendo in the middle so they stray from each other at that point.

  • @SweetZombiJesus I'd give them a similarity of about 15% since I can tell the two are different as soon as they both start.

  • @pianoman0420 Dare I say, Ilaria Graziano better than Bjork? I think so...

  • Yoko kanno is a genius!!!!! thx for the upload

  • i just listenned to the hyperballad, i yoko's take on that type of music

  • i love this song so much~ ♥

  • i love this.

yoko always makes me to smile

  • well, take a look at "Wikipedia"

  • I love this song! xD I was searching for this song for so long. ; A; Thank you!! ~ <33

  • This sound EXACTLY like Bjork's Hyperballad- it's even in the SAME KEY!

  • dude, i remember hearing this song on anime radio. love it!!! and def love the lyrics!!

  • Where Does This Ocean Go >>> Hyper Ballad

  • stop saying its "bjork song" the singer voice here is much better

    singer : ilaria graziano

    music by : yoko kanno

  • I don't think this is Graziano, her English was much better in Monochrome. This woman sounds Japanese.

  • Thank you :)

  • Oh my god, this is so beautiful!!! <333

  • episode 8 Missing Hearts

  • azome beautiful

  • HYPER-BALLAD???

  • this song is just beyond magnificant

  • i feel kinda depressed now...

  • beautiful

  • I liked it better the first time, when it was called Hyper Ballad by Bjork.

  • Yeah, it definitely sounds ALOT like bjork.

  • We live on a mountain

    Right at the top

    There's a beautiful view

From the top of the mountain

Every morning I walk towards the edge

    And throw little things off

    Like:

    Car parts, bottles and cutlery

Or whatever I find lying around

THAT is Hyperballad I am a Bjork fan as well but taking the beat from a song doesn't mean it's a cover

  • but it is VERy Bjorkesque but I like both lol

  • Whoops my bad then I was told this was a total cover, I like Bjork's work but I don't know a lot of it so I wouldn't have known. xDDD

  • coolies i have the album too bought it on amazon yoko kanno is a cool composer ^^
