I am a Gator alum. Let me tell you, we could have played these guys 10 times and lost every game. I have never seen a team more complete and absolutely destroy my Gators. At one point I was rooting for them to get to 70 just to see if they could.
@92ridethelightning92 Thank you for saying that. The 90's was a fun time as a Husker fan, though not so fun for the teams we clobbered. Tennessee has a lot of tradition too.
@americanhellcatf6 Hell,I still have nightmares about that 42-17 ass-whoopin' you guys gave us when we had Peyton Manning under center.....I'm looking forward to our next meeting in 2016,but until then.....
Great team, but I don't think this was the best team ever fielded. They played in a top-heavy conference so that thing about beating 4 top ten teams isn't as impressive, especially when those were the only top 25 teams they played all year. This is not to downplay what is probably one of the most dominant teams ever, but I think that needs to be said.
In the end, that 95 team will forever be remembered for Tommie Frazier...
@Ooftyman Are you crazy??? It's not impressive that they beat 4 top ten teams because they were in their top heavy conference!? Why is that not impressive? If anything it is more impressive because they had to play the best teams week in and week out, they never got a break! Some teams don't even play 4 top 25 teams in a year, not to mention 4 top ten teams. This is the most ridiculous argument ever.
You are missing the point. Should be discussing these players as COLLEGE players. The debate is over which was the best COLLEGE team. The '95 Huskers should be on the list as well as the '83 Huskers. They still hold NCAA offensive records. The'95 team holds one I think. The '95 Nittany Lions are a wildcard. They also went undefeated but did not get to meet the Huskers. What about the '05 Longhorns?
Nebraska may have had 8 home games, but they had to play Kansas, K-State, and Colorado on the road. Before you pooh-pooh that all three teams finished in the top ten that year.
@Eiuvltr > > You got that right. It is a Great feeling, all over again. Their are many similarities between Bama and the Huskers. You guys have a good coach now and we look to see you in the Big Games ahead. Thank you and Have a Great Day ...
@BoBSaGeT1SC00L Actually impossible to say they ran up the score as their 2nd and 3rd string players were all extremely talented so all the scores looked more lopsided as if they were done by 1st stringers
the only thing negative thing you can say about this team is that they played 8 out of 11 regular season games at home. farthest they traveled was at michigan state?
umm yeah they did. ahman green, lawrence phillips, grant wistrom, c peter, j peter, michael booker, tarrell farley, tony veland and MANY MANY MORE went to the pros. just as many from the 1995 team went into the pros as 2001 miami did. just more from miami went 1st round
why is it when people say 01 miami is the best ever, all they can do is read a list of names? there is a difference between "dominance" on paper and dominance on the field. 01 miami easily could have lost TWICE that year to 9-4 teams. no one touched 95 nu. they beat FOUR final top 10 teams by an average of 30.75 points. they put their feet on teams' throats and crushed them. that attitude, that killer instinct makes them the best ever, not some stupid list of names.
werent both teams good alli see on the comments iz 2001 miami suks wen that def iznt the case...y cant both teams b good? they both won ships and were both undefeated wtf iz the problem

amhan green plays for green bay, larence phillips played for st. louis and san fran, i believe, most of the defensive line went to the nfl, and the only reason tommie frazier wasn't drafted was because of medical problems-blood clots, to be specific. 2001 miami was a great team...no doubt, but 95 nebraska...the best ever! just check the stats.
Ahman Green was #1 Lawrence Philips' back-up, and wasn't half the back Lawrence was. Dick Vermiel said Lawrence was the best athlete he had ever seen hands down, unfortunately he didn't make it in the NFL due to being a psychopath. Oh well, no one remembers Alonzo Spellman either.
wtf!!! does that have to do with what they did on a college football field? so what?

It's a good thing Miami is no longer a threat to anyone. Nebraska almost has a 9 win season under a brand new head coach. Guess what happened Tom Osbourne's first year? 9 win season... You guys should probably start lookin at Nebraska, here comes some more.
MIAMI 2001 SCHEDULE at Penn State WON 33-7 RUTGERS WON 61-0 WASHINGTON** **postponed at Pittsburgh (Thur.) WON 43-21 TROY STATE WON 38-7 at Florida State WON 49-27 WEST VIRGINIA (Thur.) WON 45-3 TEMPLE (HC) WON 38-0 at Boston College WON 18-7 SYRACUSE WON 59-0 WASHINGTON** WON 65-7 at Virginia Tech WON 26-24 Nebraska WON 37-14
Big Husker Fan here and I agree that 95' Skers would have crushed the Hurricanes. The only team that can make a legitimate claim as to contesting the 95 Huskers is the 61' Crimson Tide. They only allowed 25 points the whole season....wow. But in 95' Skers defenese....a majority of any points that did get scored on them were in the 3rd and 4th Quarters when we had the 2nd/3rd stringers in.
Alot of you Miami fans seem to think there isn't much difference between the '01 Huskers and the '95 team. The '01 team was a decent, but not great team and Solich didn't have T.O.'s play calling ability. The '95 team was so dominating that opponents put 10 in the box to stop the option and still got bulldozed for 400 yds. rushing.
Why do you always have to start with the insults? You cane fans have no class. They always say you've lost the debate when you start insults and slurs.
God, you are soooo stupid, I have to explain an insult to you! NAMBLA is the North American Man Boy Love Association, they're a bunch of fucking child molesters and you're a charter member!
huskers will be back to national dominance soon trust me
i know yer thinking right now wat a loser, husers: national dominance NEVER but u remeber dis comment come back and look at in a few years and yell see too dat the huskers are going to be good
We were so good then because of great recruting for one. Just becasue a guy does or doesn't have 5 stars means nothing. We were so good because we out worked everybody and out executed everybody. And our talent was the best in the nation.
01 Hurricanes didn't even come close to dominating like the 95 Huskers. They should have lost to both an average Boston College and a Virginia Tech that no longer had Micheal Vick. The 95 Huskers won their games by an average of 39 points. Their closest game was 35-21 against Washington State, when they were leading 28-7 late and sent in the subs. The Florida team that Nebraska destroyed 62-24 had won their games up to that point by an average of about 30, and that's in the SEC. U have no idea.
what are you smoking? 01 Canes struggled terribly to beat two very very avg four loss teams. And don't give me this BS about Canes 01 playing tougher schdule than 95 NU. excluding 01 NU from Canes schedule, which in all honesty probably no better than some top 20 teams 01 Canes played not ONE team ranked higher than the 4 top ten teams that 95 NU destroyed. You are way off!
The 95 husker team had more speed more strength and more agility then any other college football team in ncaa history and thats including the 01 miami team if u wanted a team thats ever even came close to the 95 huskers it would have to be the 71 huskers now that was a great team but the 95 huskers hands down are and always be the best damn team ever Go Huskers!
I DID see a football game be delayed for 15 minutes to remove two whole sections of CU fans at a home game on national tv! Buff fans are some of the worst in the country. Love the state, hate the people...

At least we don't have to worry about Sports Illustrated writing a story about how our schedule has been one of the weakest in the nation for the past 40 years. And our non conference schedule being the WEAKEST in the nation over that same period. Or, let me guess, "We don't get them there big city newspapers (sic) out here no how, so we ain't never seed no such story." Keep living the dream- while the rest of the world is laughing (at you.)
SI has always had a vendetta agaisnt NU and none will ever know why. You kow how many teams over the years, especially in 80's and 90's called up NU 6 months before game and said they werent going to come to Lincon, that they wanted out of the games? Quite a few have left NU in lurch over the years, a few months before season needing that home game since FB supports program. Pretty diffciulu

I can't remember...was 1995 the year that osborne committed felony obstruction of justice by keeping the handgun, which was used in the commission of a felony by a player, locked in his office-away from police? Or was that the year that after being suspended for punching his girlfriend in the face and dragging her down several flights of stairs by her hair was reinstated just before the Colorado game, because, as "tom" said, "this young man needs football to straighten out his life?
I don't think you could make it any more obvious how jealous you are. What are you, a K state or Buffs fan? If so, I understand you pain of getting beat down for 40 years by the Huskers.
ralph, are you a buffs fan? Nebraska's schedule would be weaker than yours for the simple fact that colorado has nebraska to help with their strength of schedule while colorado hurts nebraska's strength of schedule. Which sports illustrated article are you referring to? I would love to see it. Nebraska usually plays a non conference top 5 team and then plays their conference schedule. Big 12 is usually in the top 3 most powerful conferences in the nation.
Lawrence Phillips was reinstated just before the iowa state game genius, not colorado. You know, two games after nebraska beat #8 Kansas state 49-25 and the game after nebraska beat #7 colorado 44-21. You don't actually expect us to believe that osborne reinstated phillips because he thought we needed him to beat IOWA STATE do you? ha ha. I'm pretty sure nebraska had near 50 points by half time in that game. 95 huskers: GREATEST TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY. DEAL WITH IT!
yeah looks like ksd11ralph is pretty jealous, and yeah, the world is laughing at us. like daniel said, we beat 4 top 10 teams that year by blow out, so shove it up your hole there buddy, and yes we do play a top 5 team every year it seems, last few years it was usc, now VA tech. go big red.
LPD wouldnt allow ANYONE to obstruct in that manner. You're crazy if you think so. Do you really think they would let a coach commit felony obstruction? Furthermore, you sound like a CU fan stating things like "reinstated before CU game. I assume your talking about Lawrence Phillips. Well, that was Ahman Green streaking down the sidelines for TD on 1st play. Phillips didnt play agasint CU in 95. And we proved that we certainly didnt need him for that game or any!
Oh yah, did they ever win a national championship with a win margin of over 40 points for the entire season? Is any FSU team in the top 5 all time teams? Last time I checked NU '95 and NU'71 were 1st and 2nd.
the difference between the 95 huskers and the 07 huskers is the desire to win. the players on the 95 team REFUSED to go down before they scored. you just dont see that with the team now
U know, I am not a Nebraska fan, but this was and still is the best college football team I have seen play in my lifetime. Yet my favorite college football team is the 1991 Washington Huskies.
Guys, guys, guys. Being a Big Ten dude, I hate the f'n Huskers as much as anyone, but we have to be logical here. It's not fair to judge the greatness of a team by how many draft picks they had, or how they compare to the 1912 "whoevers". Judge them by how they performed against other teams in 1995, which is scary.
They made other teams that year look like high school teams and beat the number 2 team in the country by almost 40 points. Tha's gotta mean something. 1995 Huskers=PURE DOMINANCE. Best team EVER, no contest.
'95 huskers won convincingly but that was a long time ago. The new dynasty is definitely the trojans. They are the tiger Woods of golf right now. LSu is making a good run so is Oklahoma, but they can't seem to stay of probation. Florida looks good too w/ Urban. Out.
pretty sure this video isn't about modern day dynasty. Pretty sure its about the 95 huskers. Voted best EVER college football team... EVER!! And that was a vote made by ALL football fans, not just Husker fans. So, who cares about the modern day Trojans.
No wonder this team was so hated by everybody, all they did was dominate and embarrass the opponents. After a while, it's a tough pill to swallow knowing your getting your ass handed to you on every play.
This team could talk smack w/ the best but the difference was they always backed it up. The posers, the pretenders, the condenders they all had their asses handed to them at the end of the day. It would take 2 weeks for opponents to heal from that good ole fashion midwestern ass beat down. Just ask Florida and Oklahoma.
At least husker fans have the past. The present ain't too pretty. I hope last weeks game whe the Trojans made it clear that unless they play Troy St. it may be a while until they dominate again.
which is why Tom should come back , he was the reason for their success , he had a great philosophy , he knew how to recruit an he was VERY humble , the sign of a true champion
Ah, this makes me miss the good old days of Tommy Frazier, the running offense, and Tom Osbourne. We were classy--still are--and we could kick ANYONE'S ASS.

It's a good thing Miami is no longer a threat to anyone. Nebraska almost has a 9 win season under a brand new head coach. Guess what happened Tom Osbourne's first year? 9 win season... You guys should probably start lookin at Nebraska, here comes some more.

95 Nebraska all the way. 2nd - 61 Crimson Tide

2001 canes were good, but the no one even came close to the '95 huskers while the '01 canes had two games that they almost lost.

Alot of you Miami fans seem to think there isn't much difference between the '01 Huskers and the '95 team. The '01 team was a decent, but not great team and Solich didn't have T.O.'s play calling ability. The '95 team was so dominating that opponents put 10 in the box to stop the option and still got bulldozed for 400 yds. rushing.

2001 hurricanes are better. they blew teams out just as bad, if not worse, than this huskers team did.
sunlordra 3 years ago
01 Hurricanes didn't even come close to dominating like the 95 Huskers. They should have lost to both an average Boston College and a Virginia Tech that no longer had Micheal Vick. The 95 Huskers won their games by an average of 39 points. Their closest game was 35-21 against Washington State, when they were leading 28-7 late and sent in the subs. The Florida team that Nebraska destroyed 62-24 had won their games up to that point by an average of about 30, and that's in the SEC. U have no idea.
mcoltrane5 3 years ago 4
what are you smoking? 01 Canes struggled terribly to beat two very very avg four loss teams. And don't give me this BS about Canes 01 playing tougher schdule than 95 NU. excluding 01 NU from Canes schedule, which in all honesty probably no better than some top 20 teams 01 Canes played not ONE team ranked higher than the 4 top ten teams that 95 NU destroyed. You are way off!
skers4life 3 years ago
The 95 husker team had more speed more strength and more agility then any other college football team in ncaa history and thats including the 01 miami team if u wanted a team thats ever even came close to the 95 huskers it would have to be the 71 huskers now that was a great team but the 95 huskers hands down are and always be the best damn team ever Go Huskers!

Or was that the year that after being suspended for punching his girlfriend in the face and dragging her down several flights of stairs by her hair was reinstated just before the Colorado game, because, as "tom" said, "this young man needs football to straighten out his life?
ksd11ralph 4 years ago
I don't think you could make it any more obvious how jealous you are. What are you, a K state or Buffs fan? If so, I understand you pain of getting beat down for 40 years by the Huskers.
mjaciern 3 years ago 2
ralph, are you a buffs fan? Nebraska's schedule would be weaker than yours for the simple fact that colorado has nebraska to help with their strength of schedule while colorado hurts nebraska's strength of schedule. Which sports illustrated article are you referring to? I would love to see it. Nebraska usually plays a non conference top 5 team and then plays their conference schedule. Big 12 is usually in the top 3 most powerful conferences in the nation.
danielabq22 3 years ago 2
Lawrence Phillips was reinstated just before the iowa state game genius, not colorado. You know, two games after nebraska beat #8 Kansas state 49-25 and the game after nebraska beat #7 colorado 44-21. You don't actually expect us to believe that osborne reinstated phillips because he thought we needed him to beat IOWA STATE do you? ha ha. I'm pretty sure nebraska had near 50 points by half time in that game. 95 huskers: GREATEST TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY. DEAL WITH IT!
danielabq22 3 years ago 2
yeah looks like ksd11ralph is pretty jealous, and yeah, the world is laughing at us. like daniel said, we beat 4 top 10 teams that year by blow out, so shove it up your hole there buddy, and yes we do play a top 5 team every year it seems, last few years it was usc, now VA tech. go big red.
foolishfool3 3 years ago
LPD wouldnt allow ANYONE to obstruct in that manner. You're crazy if you think so. Do you really think they would let a coach commit felony obstruction? Furthermore, you sound like a CU fan stating things like "reinstated before CU game. I assume your talking about Lawrence Phillips. Well, that was Ahman Green streaking down the sidelines for TD on 1st play. Phillips didnt play agasint CU in 95. And we proved that we certainly didnt need him for that game or any!

OperationPeaceBomb 4 years ago
They made other teams that year look like high school teams and beat the number 2 team in the country by almost 40 points. Tha's gotta mean something. 1995 Huskers=PURE DOMINANCE. Best team EVER, no contest.

'95 huskers won convincingly but that was a long time ago. The new dynasty is definitely the trojans. They are the tiger Woods of golf right now. LSu is making a good run so is Oklahoma, but they can't seem to stay of probation. Florida looks good too w/ Urban. Out.
hostiledefense 4 years ago
pretty sure this video isn't about modern day dynasty. Pretty sure its about the 95 huskers. Voted best EVER college football team... EVER!! And that was a vote made by ALL football fans, not just Husker fans. So, who cares about the modern day Trojans.
jweeda1976 4 years ago 5
it's definitely not the trojans.
RodGroinfro 4 years ago
No wonder this team was so hated by everybody, all they did was dominate and embarrass the opponents. After a while, it's a tough pill to swallow knowing your getting your ass handed to you on every play.
NUBlackshirts07 4 years ago
This team could talk smack w/ the best but the difference was they always backed it up. The posers, the pretenders, the condenders they all had their asses handed to them at the end of the day. It would take 2 weeks for opponents to heal from that good ole fashion midwestern ass beat down. Just ask Florida and Oklahoma.
NUBlackshirts07 4 years ago
At least husker fans have the past. The present ain't too pretty. I hope last weeks game whe the Trojans made it clear that unless they play Troy St. it may be a while until they dominate again.
twinsfan3701 4 years ago
which is why Tom should come back , he was the reason for their success , he had a great philosophy , he knew how to recruit an he was VERY humble , the sign of a true champion
