To be honest, at least Britain's Got talent isn't so much a competition. It's a yes, or no. And no matter how you look, if you're good enough, you'll get the Yes. but on American Idol, you have one darn zit, or blemish, they will vote you off (or rig the vote) so that you don't win.

Yeah Susan Boyle's album seems to be mostly music that is way out of the small circle of genres that gets played on the radio...unless you count jazz radio, in which case I'm sure she'd be successful there but not really in the mainstream category...although I have heard her cover of Cry Me A River and it is absolutely fantastic, they really don't make talent like hers anymore. I really wish she could become as big as, say, Michael Buble (since they're in kinda the same musical category).
People talked about that video of her like "Oh see we're not shallow!" If she was just average looking, nobody would talk about her. She's a gimmick, plain and simple and nobody really cares anymore. Her 15 minutes are up.

To be honest, at least Britain's Got talent isn't so much a competition. It's a yes, or no. And no matter how you look, if you're good enough, you'll get the Yes. but on American Idol, you have one darn zit, or blemish, they will vote you off (or rig the vote) so that you don't win.
I absolutely hate how people only vote for who looks better, even though (most of the time) the other person clearly was a better performer or singer.

Yeah Susan Boyle's album seems to be mostly music that is way out of the small circle of genres that gets played on the radio...unless you count jazz radio, in which case I'm sure she'd be successful there but not really in the mainstream category...although I have heard her cover of Cry Me A River and it is absolutely fantastic, they really don't make talent like hers anymore. I really wish she could become as big as, say, Michael Buble (since they're in kinda the same musical category).
