This sensei is impressive. He immediately reads what wrong with each student and doesn't let him to hit at the time. It's more hard to do actually. I'm also impressed by these students. It is very hard to hit correctly after the shinai was knocked away, but they still hit correctly.
i get confused because when i do a shiai with my master, he leaves his men open and i kinda dont get it and he laughs at me T___T ahhh y does life suck
@jung567 This practice called "kakari-geiko," lit. sparring practice. It trains your reflexes so that you can find right spots to hit in a second without thinking. The practice also fixes your moving from kamae through zanshin. You will be much better by this keiko. Please keep up and hang in there! d(^-^)b
I'm not a kendo guy and I'm not familiar with the term Kakari Geiko. so what do we have here? I'm guessing this is a training session with the sensei being the guy that's getting hit by everybody to teach them what is open when and where and how to move and strike properly. is that close? that's quite a cool video. those guys are pretty darn fast. and can you say "bouncey"? good, I knew you could.
it buildes your reaction time and stamina. its really grueling. usually go from one partner to the next. you get tired but its important to keep your spirit up. looks like it might be young adults.
I boxed before I did Kendo...for me, kakarigeiko is like a combination of Intense Focus mitt training & heavy bag switch drills(when you pucnh the bag continuosly for 30 seconds with full speed & power).
I like this sensei, where I am can practice with him?

Thanks Lenny, I don't know much about Kendo but it looks to me like they did a really good job. this is a really fun video to watch.

yeah..i remember doing that practice. 30 seconds switch 30 seconds switch 30 seconds switch...ugh.
thats what really separates the focused people. you can see the 'smart' ones holding up their posture even through the fatigue.
