In Tyrants,Dictators,& Terrorism guns seems to be the only way to stale-mate the show. UNTIL someone can come up with a Better idea to keep freedom to grow -up and build a planet and survive ourselves.I grew up with a dad that taugh proper usage of weapons.
Besides, it was the brainy solutions (and wondering if they ACTUALLY would work) that made this show interesting. Just shooing people and blowing things up like the A-TEAM is a whole different concept and wouldn't be as much pleasure for some people.
I don't mean to offend anyone who uses guns in their occupation. At the end of the day, I'd probably use a gun if I had to to protect myself. But I'd never use them in an occupation to shoot someone because that just feels different to me. Protecting yourself once or twice in your whole life is different than shooting bad guys several dozen times in a decade.
I was that kid shooting birds that he was walking with. I had some bad experiences. In total, I had them taken away and was grateful for it. I loved MacGyver. I grew out of that phase in my life. I sympathized with the "no guns" mantra. I still hate guns. They're all explosion and not very much thought.
What I mean by fabricated is that the way they reached 10-12 kids a day was to include "children" up to 21 years old. They also counted deaths from gang on gang shootings, self-defense, and justified police shoot-outs.
@IlovemyGlock21 I guess it depends what your arguing as to weather those situations should be included in the stats or not, but I'd agree that if your trying to argue that guns are dangerous because kids shoot each other or themselves with them, then including situations where kids are shot by adults doesn't really help your argument much.
@IlovemyGlock21 Actually, in a population the size of the US 10 kids per day doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.
I just did a quick Google search for car wreck and gun deaths stats. It's funny how car wreck stats are really easy to find, but it's REALLY hard to find up-to-date non-biased legitimate gun stats. But from what I saw it looks like they are both pretty close, but no-one wants to ban or restrict cars. lol
@IlovemyGlock21 here is one for you...my brother in law came in from hunting and laid his rifle down to get a drink. his oldest son (being about 6 i believe it was) decided to put the gun away for him, but the rifle was to unwieldy and as he dropped it, it went off and shot his younger sister through the stomach. thankfully she lived. it could have been worse, she could have died. the carelessness of adults with guns is a big cause of child deaths with guns.
RDA is, I am afraid to say, essentially not very bright and more of what Republicans and conservatives say Hollywood elitists are. He ain't like a real life Sean Penn or something, really being interested in change and social activism when he has to give up things or it does not contribute to his popularity.
The NRL would never do anything like mis-lead the public with doctored stats would they?
Instead of worrying about who has the guns, people should be worried about who they are being pointed at. Point them at criminals instead of children - there's a happy compromise. :)
Who is the NRL? Either way, the fact that it was misleading is wrong, no matter who does it. I agree completely, gun safety is what should be taught, especially with children.
hm.. I remember that episode very well and i used to watch it as a kid. And i never saw any controversy thing in that episode. Such things are allways "engineered" by big lobbys, political parties and major corporations because some things are are against their interests. Thanks for uploading :) great to see some RDA interviews from the time when this show was still running on TV.

Macgyver the TV show is a clear example of Hollywood's anti-gun propaganda infused with an entertaining show; with the U.S. GOV's blessing of course.
Nothing has changed today with the same message and duplicitous thinking; that is pro war but don't you dare have a gun to protect yourself with.

The 2nd amendment should be the 1st. Without it we can not defend any other rights.

How ironic. In stargate SG1 O'Neills son is killed accidently by his own handgun!

Of course MacGyver was fictional. In real life MacGyver would be shot all to hell by the bad guys that were after him.
BTW - 10 kids a day dieing by gunfire has been proven as fabricated.

The "statistic" he mentioned includes "children" up to around age 20, and therefore includes gang-related killings.

and?

And....the statistic is bogus, or misleading at best.
