Flatnose and Barney came to the Stanly Agri-Civic Center to "perform" at a fundraiser back in the 1980s. It was wonderful to see Flatnose climb and then to meet Barney and Flatnose up close.

Well I have to tell you, it ticks me off to see people who sic their dogs on cats. I've got a half draft who likes running over dogs who think that herding's fun. I'm just not ignorant enough to let him do it. People that do that stuff are exhibiting the lowest form of behavior. Intelligence out to lunch.

I'm with you there. But I gave the benefit of a doubt on this, since:

a. No cats were anywhere near - only the dream of one

b. The dog seems to run out of steam about 5 feet up

c. The dog's top speed on the flat is probably no more than about 9 knots. :D

Yes, I know that. But, by what he says you can see where his mind is and what he likes to use as bait to get the dog going. On one video a while back some moron was BRAGGING about how his pit bull had killed over a hundred cats. Those are people of the same mind and mind is what makes stuff like that acceptable and when they think that there's approval they DO those kinds of things. They're brainless.

And yes, these dogs and by extension, their owners, have, rightly or wrongly, a very bad rep for just the sort of thing you just mentioned, as well as for schizoid and unprovoked attacks on other pets and even children.

I'm from the south (Macon, Georgia), and I live in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey region, and the one thing I definitely miss about the South is the southern hospitality, the country roots, and small towns. One thing that's definitely missing from New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania region is general hospitality.
