Well, fun fact: they used real white supremacists as the audience. And one day some of them had hammers shaved into their heads and a lot of the crew got a little worried. Now, there is a god damn group of neo-nazis called the Hammerskins who stole Pink's logo.
Now whenever I wear my The Wall stuff, I feel like I'm going to get beat up.
As with the other songs on The Wall, "In the Flesh" tells a segment of the story of Pink, the story's protagonist. This song marks the first of a series of songs in which Pink, in a drug-induced hallucination, believes himself to be a fascist dictator, crowing over his faithful audience. This particular song is his hallucination that his concerts can be likened to a political rally.
Now that I think of this scene again, I think I understand my problem. I thought this scene at first was being racist and thats why I hated this movie now. But now, I found out what my problem was. I WAS MISSING SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T KNOW FROM THE MOVIE! The character pink isn't a racist. This scene is suppose to show that he did this because of what happened in his lifetime and made him crumble into pieces becoming what we see now. I really need to watch this again.
@BlackSunUnlimited Yes, it has a comment section designed for opinions. If those opinions clash, argument insues. It's intellectual (well, not always) discussions about what we love best, I don't see how this is a bad thing.

@GirlAddict You would fit well into the crowd with the repetition of the Party mantra. Funny, you don't even realize it. You would probablly agree with those who are already calling for the extermination of the "baggers" and all those who don't follow the Party line. In fact, you would probaly endorse it heartily. All it takes is someone to appeal to your emotion or drum up hatred of a convenient scapegoat. A pretty easy task when critical thought is dispensed with.
@GmanBR549 Oh give up, the teabagger movement is the most obvious astroturf movement in modern history. Say what you want about occupy wallstreet but the movement isnt being directed by MSNBC unlike the tea party's who where completely organized by Fox.
@greatunknowableevil No,not MSNBC,But their was an ad on Craigs list offering $400 to $600 a week to encourage wall street protesters to join . ( Talk about AstroTurf ) ha ha ha That ad wad quickly removed when it hit the news.
@GmanBR549 Teabaggers don't rape women, shut down other peoples jobs,or shit on your door step. And it is always liberals who call for violence first, every time. But you go ahead and believe what you want oh great deep thinker of YouTube. Funny, when I see critical thought coming from you.I will let you know.
@doughboy206 I'm not sure if you forgot history, but I'm pretty sure the political right is responsible for most violence, *cough*Iraq *Cough* Nazism *Cough*
@yaik7a Liberals voted to "cough" go to "cough " Iraq too. They were operating on the same info the Prez had. All sides got duped on that one.And if you look at the "cough" history of "cough" the Nazis . They were "cough" leftist socialists. Not the right. They socialized health care, banks, farms, and the automobile industry.Hitler even had a concept car,it was called the "Volts wagon". Well,we got a good car out of it any ways. @doughboy206 They're is a difference between nationalization for the war effort and socialization. If you think that Nazi's are leftist socialists then your stupid, plain and simple. There is no difference between Democrats and Republicans in the USA, they're all puppets of the military industrial complex that rules the country.
@yaik7a "Military industrial complex?" It is quite obvious that you are a leftist from that statement. And that you are severely indoctrinated into that mantra. I will not repeat the facts because some one like you could not possibly comprehend them.Or more to the point, would not choose to. It would be pointless.
@doughboy206 Did not Eisenhower, a republican and general warned about the millitary industial complex? My step father argues that capitolism is not the same thing as corporatism. He argues that small business that is unregulated is a true step towards pure adam smith economics. And that what we have is croney capitolism.
@xpostageboyx We have not had true capitalism in this country since even before the Cater administration signed into law a bill which forced banks to lower their lending standards. But that was not killing the market fast enough. So Bill Clinton signed into law a bill which lowered those standards even further. That plus the deception from Bernie-ma and Freddy-Mac were the root cause of the housing bubble crash. It is not capitalism when the government places its own mandates on it.
@greatunknowableevil They are more like the low life wall street protesters who shit on peoples door steps and have rape crisis centers with in their ranks (to convince the women who are raped by other wall street protesters not to call the police because of the bad Media).
@GirAddict That's because you are a programmed idiot whose ideology is written in stone and forever unchanging. No one who chooses logic and reason could possible mistake the tea party ( who are nonviolent and respectful to others), to the wall street protesters ( who may have started out with good people, but ended up with criminals hell bent on chaos usurping their cause). No one will ever find any deep thinker in you. Still in college? or fresh out? What does it really matter.
@doughboy206 You know conservatives should never complain about how other peoples ideology is set in stone when the point of conservatism is that things shouldnt change. Also what are you talking about, I had Tea Partiers accusing me of being a communist for daring to say that there where good democratic presidents. Also I disagree that criminals hellbent on chaos usurped the cause of occupy wallstreet, the real problem are the police men who militarized the movement with a brutal crackdown.
@greatunknowableevil Tell that to the women who where raped. That it was the polices fault. I am sure that will give them great comfort. Can't say that about the tea party. And yes, there were some great democratic presidents. This country is far to polarized. Each side has been trained to think the other is bat shit crazy. Once that has been accomplished, there is not talking. And the point of conservatives is small government. Not a lack of change.
@doughboy206 And also, the wall street protesters are on camera planning to met those cops with violence. They are not just innocent people standing around. If you believe that, then you have been duped.
@doughboy206 But what does small government mean? Saying that something is "big government" has been used to oppose everything from the ending of slavery to modern attempts to lower tuition costs at colledges. While I dont know about over in the US occupy london has been somewhat peaceful, although given the brutality your cops have shown towards occupy protesters I think their talking about reprisals is understandable atleast.
@greatunknowableevil The general consensus on "small Government" is, a lack of power over the people it governs,a lack of intrusive laws and policy's which stifle freedom and liberty's of individuals, alliances, groups or religions. And as far as the "brutality" of our law enforcement, the protesters in this highly organized action called for it.They brought it on themselves in order to garner media sympathy. It was planed from the beginning. Don't think it won't get worse.
@thatonekidmatt1001 I'm not trying to be rude, but if you don't "get it" it can't really be explained . Watch the whole movie all the way through and you might understand.
to answer *alexandernero666 waters is struggling with himself in the writing of this masterpiece. we all have a dark /nasty side he is supposed to (pink) be losing his grip on reality
Also, this scene is ironic, as he becomes in a certain way what brought him to isolation in the first place. Taking reference to his father's death, his mother, his teacher, lover, etc. He is represented as a fascist leader in this scene. It's really an incredible story.
its a metaphor. just like pretty much all music. the government, and people of the sort, not liking rock n roll. walters isnt pink. the government is.
Ok This is to all Pink Floyd fans: 1) I didn't know you had such thin skin !! 2) I realize "The Wall" is a fantasy. 3) Anti-Semitism sells, like all things controversial, like sex, violence, etc. 4) Roger Waters isn't stupid, nor does he work for free 5) Lighten up,pseudo-hippies! 6) I shan't reply on this matter further,GOOD DAY SIRS!....I SAID GOOD DAY !
Facism is a symbol of what Pink wants - order and control over his life, black and white decisions, guidance from a superior force. And, if anyone ever bothered to watch, the last fifth or so of the film has him breaking free of that and leaving the 'facism' behind. He rejects it in the face of acceptance and release from his isolation.
I really can't believe Floyd got away with all this...I guess anti-semitism sells just like sex and violence...so long as the money goes in the right pockets I guess no one cares...
@Alexandernero666 I really can't believe that you actually think Pink Floyd were doing it fot the money. This is sum of Waters' genius, he didn't care about money...
Boy, you are 12 kinds of stupid. It's all part of a story. About a guy who gets high a fuck and thinks he is a Nazi. Walter singing about a Nazi =/= Walter being a Nazi. Please do research before posting stupid shit.
@JackbenImbel wow I did'nt realize Floyd fans had such thin skin...for those in doubt, when you refer to Jews as "riff raff",that is anti-semitism...when you package your art and sell it,it is because you want to make money...I'm not condoning or condemning, merely observing...
So is the director of Schindler's List a anti-semite because he made a movie with Nazis who killed Jews? Ralph Fiennes must have been an anti-semite too for portraying a man who killed Jews! Those greedy bastards made it to get money too!
I don't know if you are an idiot or just trolling. But here are some facts:
1) Some people publish books just for cash.
2) Some people publish books for the art.
3) Some do it for both.
Walters did it for the art. He's not a Nazi. Simple.
@JackbenImbel Just as some trivia, they used actual neo-nazis for these scenes. Still, Waters is far from a Nazi. It's like saying that George Bush was a genius. Far from the truth.
@Alexandernero666 Pink is insane. This is all happening in his head. It has everything to do with the character, and nothing to do with the band's personal beliefs. Pink doesn't like ANYONE. In his mind, he creates this image that he has total power. It's not JUST Jewish people. It's everyone and anyone he doesn't like. The Wall is a powerful work of art that tells a STORY. Don't be so ignorant.
search 'pink floyd the wall full movie' and you will realize that the fuher is so high that he imagines himself as the leader of a neo-nazi group during one of his concerts.
Pink Floyd is really mocking the neo-nazi formation happening throughout the west.
Have you seen the Blues Brothers? how did the Nazis go for you there?
How about Blazing Sadles? in the end in the cafeteria, loom for hitler going heil in the background.
For the historically ignorant, the Fuhrer Pink character is actually based on Sir Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists, who, had the war not intervened, may have become the Fuhrer of the British Empire. I must confess that I get a hard on every time that I see this video.
@Wodensvolk Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't know about Mosley. Fascism what people turn to when they need order and closely aligned with insanity.
@1RealityBroadcasting seems to me he had to have watched the films of hitler addressing the people of the third reich. because he has gotten the style down pat.
since i was a kid (i grew up with "The Wall") i always Dreamed that i was the Leader Of The Hammers Society i dreamed with me calling to the people from that balcony i have 18 and i love The Wall Ideology *w* is gourgious <3
I first saw this movie in my teenage years,at that time I didn't understand the symbolism. After many years of maturation and understanding,I now see what the artist was striving for.
@bae123456 try watching it while youre tripping on pain killer. i tore my acl and the docs gave me some pain killer and i watched this. worst mistake ever. it was so good but terrifying
@bae123456 I feel the same way with the first 'In the flesh?' in the movie. Something about comparing kids running to a concert and being rebellious and people in war being killed (especially the part where one of the kids gets trampled and then you see a dead guy on the battlefield) it's just one of the most absolutely fucking disturbing scenes I've ever seen in a movie.
This is when "Pinkie" in the movie, is in a psychosomatic state, imagining himself as a fascist dictator at one of his concerts....That was his "deepest fear" growing up in the UK during WWII....He became his deepest fear, in his mind....
@EmilyDreamed You're not, that's the point. How easily ordinary, rational humans can get caught up in extreme ideologies when presented in certain fashions. It's a warning, quite a prophetic one at that....
@soxfan801 I dont think its fair to compare right wing populist parties with fascism like this video is reffering to. The only thing they might have in common is the propagandaish style. My point is, to compare facism with something that is far from what facism actually is, can make it harer to detect when its actually present. And thats not a good thing.
its a music video, thats all,...in real life bob geldoff nearly made himself broke trying to get food to the starving black kids in eithiopia........but one question,.....what would the reaction of the world be,,,,to see white starving babies in the news?,....think about it before writing,....we all bleed red blood,
I don't know rather to laugh or just beat my head against the wall after reading all these ignorant comments. Do you people really think this song is about white pride? The Wall is still the fourth top sellling album in the world. The song expresses his deep hatred of the world war II and the causes of his father's death. I am embarrassed for the commenters. I hope you people know the man who invented the rocket was a Nazi Scientist before the US forced him to move to the US?
@maerlyn138 say sheeple, it rolls off the tongue better.
also, correct me if im wrong, i thought this was a normal concert and pink was singing his normal songs, just he was on drugs that made him see and hear this scene?
@DowntownRealtyDB Roger waters wrote the wall. All of it. The rest of the band admits to not contributing.Even Gilmore. Which for me came as a shock considering Wish you were here, Learning to fly and on the turning away.
Pigs, those are the rich, unsatisfied politicians. Dogs, those are soldiers that are being ordered by pigs. And we, we are just sheep that do what we are told.
Pink makes an indirect death threat to the audience.
Audience applauds intensely.

@Alexandernero666 your a straight ignorant oblivious dumbass
lancewearspants 2 months ago
@Alexandernero666 I cant believe your stupidity
search 'pink floyd the wall full movie' and you will realize that the fuher is so high that he imagines himself as the leader of a neo-nazi group during one of his concerts.
Pink Floyd is really mocking the neo-nazi formation happening throughout the west.
Have you seen the Blues Brothers? how did the Nazis go for you there?
How about Blazing Sadles? in the end in the cafeteria, loom for hitler going heil in the background.
MOCKING NAZIS WORK!
IN4DWIN 2 months ago
@Alexandernero666 Roger Waters's dad died in WW2 while fighting the nazis, stupid.
iamobeliskquake 3 weeks ago
For the historically ignorant, the Fuhrer Pink character is actually based on Sir Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists, who, had the war not intervened, may have become the Fuhrer of the British Empire. I must confess that I get a hard on every time that I see this video.
Wodensvolk 2 months ago
@Wodensvolk Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't know about Mosley. Fascism what people turn to when they need order and closely aligned with insanity.

@bae123456 I feel the same way with the first 'In the flesh?' in the movie. Something about comparing kids running to a concert and being rebellious and people in war being killed (especially the part where one of the kids gets trampled and then you see a dead guy on the battlefield) it's just one of the most absolutely fucking disturbing scenes I've ever seen in a movie.
blackerthanebony100 1 month ago
@blackerthanebony100 absolutely. horrifying, disturbing, and fantastic.
bae123456 1 month ago
This is when "Pinkie" in the movie, is in a psychosomatic state, imagining himself as a fascist dictator at one of his concerts....That was his "deepest fear" growing up in the UK during WWII....He became his deepest fear, in his mind....

Let me preface my comment by saying that I understand the context of the movie. That being said,I could transpose this with a Tea Party rally.
soxfan801 4 months ago
@soxfan801 I dont think its fair to compare right wing populist parties with fascism like this video is reffering to. The only thing they might have in common is the propagandaish style. My point is, to compare facism with something that is far from what facism actually is, can make it harer to detect when its actually present. And thats not a good thing.

Fuck the Hammerskins! Had to ruin it for us! I saw one pigging out at a Mexican restaurant and he was totally checking out the barmaid!
He had a hammerskin tat on his wrist and was wearing a White Pride Worldwide shirt. I think he was a Confederate Hammerskin.
I'm just pissed cause they had to ruin the hammers for us! Yet why would he be flirting with a Mexican barmaid?
