Because they have to do stupid things, if they do not have the original video, do not have, but doing so is an insult to the people who remember the original video... not do shit, they are not idiots!
I seem to remember an opening credit sequence, where the characters were in (animated) space suits, tethered together, floating in space. with the original theme music. Anybody else remember that? I can't find that anywhere.
I'm not to sure about re-making this series it would be to modern very techno and nothing like the original....OK the old one is very dated but thats what gives it the charm Lost In Space has retained fr the last 45 years,, lets leave this one in the 60s its still great to watch even if todays kids wouldn't take it serious
It would be great to make some new episodes on that series, but i believe that nobody will take this one serious after all those years! just to show what hapened to the robinsons after that last episode that closes the series with many questions,if they have back to earth or go to their destination alpha centaury. But what am i saying now it would not be easy to find the actors that were that original.
This is far more imaginative and skilled than the original animated opening.
The second season opening was not as good as the first. This outdoes them both, yet captures the true feel for the show. Well done. I hope if Fox is serious they hire you.
What a fun show this was. An all time favorite scene for me is when Dr.Smith was involved with space-gamblers(relatives? how weird...) & John got him off the hook by outwitting the 'villains' in a shell game. Afterwords, Smith reached out to inspect which cup had the ball under it. Robinson almost psychopathically swept the game right off the table scaring everybody!. The combination grin/glare on Guy Williams face was acting GOLD as he forcefully explained why it was all irrelevent. Good vid!
Hi Carlos1960, you did a great job! LIS is one of my favorites, I didn't care either if the FX, specially some monsters were not that great, but some stories and the actors helped to make a great show and I was so excited to see what will happen the next day. Thanks!
Nicely done. Perhaps they should have hired you to do the opening sequence for the revival of "The Outer Limits". Despite all the progress in effects and CGI, they made an opening that was downright lame and cheap in appearance.
This show was the bomb when I was a kid. Yes, even with the cheezy special effects. I didn't care because the stories were the best. I identifed with Will Robinson. I remember hearing the theme from Lost In Space coming on and jumping for joy in front of my little Black and white TV. I was extremely happy that it was coming on. My only disappointment was that it was only a 1/2 hour show.
@carloss1960 LIS was an hour show. It originally aired from 7:30 P.M. to approximately 8:29 P.M. in the Eastern Time Zone. My family bought our first color TV in April 1966 while LIS was still airing in black-and-white. I was so excited at the end of the last rerun from the first season when the new material for the second season began airing in color! I yelled out, "It's in color! It's in color!" One of my childhood friends, Sammy, got to visit the LIS set in August 1967!
@Soapluvva Really? Was it an hour? That must have been really good to hold my attention for that long and make it feel like a 1/2 hour! I was absolutely fascinated by Robot. I really wanted to have him I wanted to be the one of the Robinsons. I wanted to be Will. I never stopped to think that, Will would have to marry either his sister or one of his nieces to have any kind of sexual relations which is really kind of sick.
I saw your version of Season 3 on your website. I was a little disappointed after your stellar performances on Seasons 1 & 2. Why so conservative on Season 3?
@DJKhrome - Thanks for viewing season 3 on my web site. Every time I try to post on YouTube, it get's blocked. The intro of Season 3 was meant to varry by episode -- showing different character shots for each episode. I thought using 3D layers for season 3 was better than the revisions for 1 and 2. Any suggestions for revision? I know I should re-post season 3 in FLASH vs WMV.
@jrvspace I liked the 3D countdown, that was great, and the J2 shot with the LIS logo. I just wished during Season 3 cast intros you would've zoomed in the incredible galaxy CGI graphics you used in seasons 1&2, but still keeping the Season 3 intros in effect. And to change things up, maybe zoom out to the Irwin Allen props in the end? What do you think?
BTW, there never was a final episode. Bill Mumy wrote a script for a final episode in the late 80's, but Irwin Allen flat out rejected it saying basically that any update of LIS will be when he wants to do it and on his terms. Bill Mumy utilized elements of his script in the LIS comics.
It is a very nice opening you've created. I have to admit I like a lot of the new Trek FX, though I find some of it completely unnecessary. But I'm glad the Blu-ray release includes the episodes in their original form.
Regarding LIS, the DVD's were apparently made from the same 1990ish analog transfers for broadcast. When you watch them on an HD monitor they definitely appear inferior to more recent digital transfers of other shows. I want to see an HD re-transfer and Blu-ray release of LIS.
Maybe they could do a Lost in Space the next generation with the surviving actors. Jonathan Harris Dr. Smith and Guy williams John Robinson are both dead. However Mark Goddard could star as next generation father and Marta kristen as a next generation mother. Penny and Will as Aunt and uncle to their kids and maybe they could be married to aliens or something. What would earth human and Space alien mixed kids be like?
Excellent. There was never a show quite like "Lost in Space." It had an incredible look, incredible score. and incredible cast. I wish someone could have talked some sense into Irwin Allen in his later years. A movie version should have hit the screens immedietly following the success of "Star Trek the Motion Picture." It will never be too late to bring it back as a new series based on the orignal. "Lost in Space" will live forever in my heart.
Absolutely spot-on!!! I believe Irwin almost acquiesced and examined some story treatments, including those submitted by Billy Mumy himself, not long after Trek hit the big screens but, as always, he must have rubbed someone up the wrong way at Fox and the idea was stillborn. So sad...so very sad. Later we LIS fans had to endure the rubbish purporting to be a movie remake...APPALLING!
for me, LIS holds a very special place in my heart...forever.
Excellent! This really does convey the feel of being "Lost In Space". The intro is polished and gets the viewer immediately involved. With all these computer whizzes awakening their creativity, why wait on the networks? Isn't it possible to recreate the series ourselves?
Very nice CGI. It has a high-tech look while maintaining it's classic sci-fi appearance. Bill Mumy is on Facebook. If you send him this link, maybe he will comment on it.
The presently released Lost in Space is a well done transfer to digital that is original. Why should it be changed in the interest of nostalgia accuracy?
But where are the animated space men that were all tethered together and floating by during the credits...?? That was my FAVORITE part!! (Hey! I was 7 years old - what did I know...??
