Hey man great lil video. Im also curious about the lense flares.
Also your settings. Like was it in tv mode or 24p? I also use final cut, final cut 5.1.4, what plugins did you use for the old film look? I have a stibs one but dont like it much. what is ur settings for exporting? Did you de-interlace? It looks really great man.
thank you! about the lens flares, i used artbeats film clutter, overlaying that and setting the composite mode to "add."
i shot in tv mode, with a 1/250th shutter speed most of the time. i tend not to use filters in final cut for old film effects, they just end up looking campy and not right. so i just used stock footage of old film add overlayed it.
basically for export i set my kbits/sec to 8000, always de-interlacing it, and applying the letterbox to it.
Thanks for the reply, I really enjoyed this. I also have an hv20 and love it like my own child lol. I aksed about de-interlacing only because alot of people go through the whole pulldown process which i find to be a big pain in the ass. I also suscribed, you have a great collection of films. Cant wait for more. Check mine out when you get the chance.
haha oh hv20's.. pulldown is tough though, that's why i tend to not shoot in 24p. but anyways, thank you, i'll definitely check out some of your videos.
i believe it was "film clutter." but no i didn't buy it. a friend of mine found it for "free" on that website, or somewhere else a while back, and gave it to me. if you want, i could send what i have to you
most of it was shot with a shutter speed of 1/250, with an exception of the intro shot, which i believe was 1/500. and i locked the exposure so the brightness wouldn't shift.
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO MAKE THE RED/YELLOW FLARE EFFECT THINGY AT 0:01 !!!!
IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT FOREVER!

cool! howd you do the old film look and especially the red and yellow lens flare things?
FXIllusion13 2 years ago
i used artbeat film clutter, flashes and end burns. i just overlayed the footage, and selected "add" as the composite mode.
kmattson118 2 years ago
do you know which one specifically, it looks so sweet! did you actually buy it? crazy expensive

the hv20/30 are really beastly cameras... Anything is possible w/ them if you can look past the limitations. Nice work, man.
