from your mouse movements, it's almost possible to interpret that you're supposed to both, yet you only show that i'm supposed to waste a 700MB cd for a 1kB file...

So, are we supposed to burn only the cue, or both?

@Pyhankoski you must click the .cue and the software will burn the bin file. The BIN file is basically an entire CD in one file, and the CUE file stores information on the .BIN file that is needed when burning, or mounting to a virtual CD drive...

I have a 9 year old modded PS2 (ancient, lol). I don't think swap magic was already available by 2003, so i don't think its running on swap magic in order to play backup games. Sorry, I was still in elementary when i received it, so i don't know much about its specifications.

Anyway, is it possible to do this method backup my game saves without swap magic? The ps2 is modded, but it think no swap magic is involved. Oh, and can I use DVD-R to burn the bin and cue files?

hey i have a modded ps2. matrix hdd. have a hard drive installed in it. can play games from the hard disk. i understood the whole process but the biggest problem for me is that my ps2 doesnt have a working cd/dvd rom... !!! :(

so is there any possibility to run ulaunch from my hdd. in other words plz do tell that can i install ulaunch to my ps2 harddisk (just as we do games). will it be able to read the memory card and pen drive after running from my hdd instead of cd rom.. waiting 4 ur reply.

3 options:

1) you loaded the 2 files to the cd, when you were supposed to read the data in the bin file, and transport it to the disc...

2) Your ps2 is modded in a not high enough level... Mine read the disc because it's modded in the highest level possible...

3) The kind of disc you burned the data on can't be really read from by ps2...

If it's not either of those 3 options, thenI don't know... Perhaps melkilockhart can answer that...

You should use 'PSUpaste' instead of 'paste', this function preserves the save files attributes, a bunch of games will not accept the save otherwise.

Also how come I cant burned that same image file on a dvd using nero(ihave trial v6) bcause my swapmagic DVD disk only seems to work. Additionaly I never get this Adam&Tom HDD menu I followed a tutorial on a diff site with and without both CD and DVD versions of swap magic but it doesn recognize them. Even when i go on browser on ps2 menu it only displays both of my mem cards in it not the disks. What should i do?

you should be able to burn LaunchElf 4.12 on a DVD, try to use another .cue compatible burn software. if this doesnt work maybe its because you are using swap magic version 3.0 but i dont think that your problems are version related.

Im gettin really frustrated as i have burned several cds containing an OF i want transfer to my mem.card but it wont work i have done everythign i have burned the .cue image file using nero but when i put it on ps2 it wont read it...swap magic dvd version wont either. you must burn as image cd not as data cd.

the .bin file contains the actual content and the .cue file has the directions in it. So you basically choose the .cue file in your burn software, then your software knows what type-mode data contains the .bin file, then its burned.

i like to answer here hehehe, you should try to search a bin/cue burner on google, you only need to burn 1 time... i guess ^_^v... so you can use a trial version of any burner, its free...if you dont have luck try in google something like: ImTOO ISO Burner softpedia. i didnt test this program :( but it was the first I found on Google with a free trial...

i dont think anything bad could happen with your ps2, ive do this thing a lot of times, i have backups every month, i think its very safe for your ps2 and maybe if you remove the memory card when its in use some data could be erased just like when its in use with any ps2 game that needs memory card...

some peoples like me want to keep Memorycard's save data in a safe place like my pc or when someone have only 1 memory card and they cant buy another one but that memory card is full and they dont want save data like 100% of completion of gran turismo 4 to be erased, they just copy this data to a pc with a lot of space using this tutorial, then they can use the only memory card they have in another game, sony ps2 memory card only has 8 mega bytes of space. ^_^
