Ayrton talked about "Prost not better reach the 1st curve ahead of me". OK. Now: what if not Prost but Mansell, Berger or Piquet would have reached 1st corner ahead of him? Would He have crashed against them on purpose just because Balestre changed Pole Position place? Did they deserved a crash from behind as well? He doesn't talk about Prost, in fact He isn't careful about 1989 incident, He simply refers to 90 race and the incorrect placing of his starting position....

Thank you Thank you!! Ayrton Senna is,and will always be my HERO!!! In not only F1, but SPORTS in general!! First time I got to hear HIS FULL comments after winning HIS 3rd Championship!! Thaaank you once again!! AYRTON SENNA STILL LIVES!!!!!!!!
i agree with you about alot of your comment accept the fact that they can do it far better then you. they all have the same abilities. which still brings it down to the driver. and talking crap on Massa did you not notice that when they removed the TCS Massa suddenly improved greatly is that not a good thing? what the hell are you talking about. and as for Ayrton im a huge fan a huge follower of the way he lived his life and the way he won! remember that F1 is also a techical sport!
I agree that F1 is probably easier now than when Senna and Prost were there. But, F1 is not easy at all. I'd love to see u drive Lewis' McLaren and beat his time around any circuit. You'd lose and we all know it.
The cars of the early 1990's had more assistance than the ones of 2008-2009.
Even the early 2000 cars didn't have all the things the cars had in 1990.
They used to use actrive suspension, traction control, abs at one stage. Even Schumacher used traction control and launch control in 1994 in Benneton Although it was illegal - the technology was there. Only difference now is the cars are safer, and more stable with the aero dynamics... Mecahnical grip is similar.
Senna was one of the very greatest drivers, of course. But your cliched mythology about how "easy" F1 is these days is nonsense. Having to manually shift a gearstick doesn't automatically make you a etter driver. Also, the number of reltively less talented drivers, across the grid, has decreased in recent years in comparison to the 80's-early 90's.
teddycon you wouldn't come within 20 seconds of hamilton on silverstone... get off the couch and stop shouting at the TV screen thinking you're a hero because you're an idiot... how the hell would you know what it's like to drive an F1 car of even a 125cc clubman go kart like i do. even go karting is immensly physical at it's peak so F1? god knows... who are you to mock modern f1 drivers anyway, sure they have semi-auto gearboxs and paddle shifts and no clutch pedal but they still drive the cars
No need to argue ,different eras ,different styles ...............but older people was better.Less safety, less electronics :) i can't compaire mansell, prost, piquet, lauda to shumi ,kimi, alonso, hamilton ...........as for AYRTON? ..............talk is cheap ,he was the greatest
Hey bastard, did you mention that Hamilton started in a top team? Did you mention Hamilton has no competitors like Senna had that time? Did you mention that Hamilton only won one title? Different circumstances, bastard.
dont compare alonso/raikkonen/massa to prost/mansell/piquet and then throw in schumacher in his early years, alesi etc. oh ye and senna didnt always have the dominant car that hamilton has had. fucking idiots dont know shit.
This man was the greatest F1 driver of all time, but, his decision to take out Prost on the first corner of the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix could have killed them both. I would have loved to see how that race would have unfolded if they didn't crash.
A GP2 driver was killed at that corner on crash very similar, one car went airborne over the tire and hit the catch fence. Senna would have won the race, but he was trying to make a point
well im not responsible for the British press and dont classify a nation as all the same. Thats extremely shallow and bigoted. I am British and I like people from many nations.
1989 is the extreme of what happened at Spa 2008. The only differance between then and now, is that the British media's darling, Lewis, was involved. Lewis was LUCKY to only get 25 second penalty
hey demis121, at least lewis followed the rules. He let raikkonen thru and just overtook him later. Are u saying that hamilton shouldn't be allowed to overtake anyone who goes by Kimi Raikkonen?
what? comparinf hamilton to senna??!! be serious mate..mclaren stole ferrari technology, putting all their support to lewis at the expense of heikki. he's good but inexperienced...some way to go before he becomes half the man senna was
yes, he hasn't won any championship yet, makes a lot of stupid mistakes and drives in a team which stole technology from ferrari. yeah I'll keep ignoring and won't even dare to compare him with Senna.
lol, stole the information from Ferrari... and which driver used the information to his advantage again? Alonso did, thats who, he admitted it. But lets make Alonso seems all innocent shall we? Mistakes? Hamilton is only in his second season... its because of his mistakes the championship is still alive!... The other drivers are counting on his mistakes... so Hamilton is on top in my book. The raw talent, he beats everyone on the grid.
Sepp Blatter has a big problem with the whole english attitude and manner. He decides to focus on the little problems of football attitude here and blatently decides to ignore the wrong-doings of other nations... like the spanish racists yob culture. We got our punishment in the 1980's... so where is theres?... and why is he still focusing on the little english problems. Now qwerty... reply back... and ask me another british jelousy sports related question... the same question if u will.
i have nothing to say. if hamilton does good tomorrow and if someone else intentionally forces him out of the race, i'll concede- the other racers really do have a problem with him. but if he screws it up himself- then that will prove somethings wrong in his head...
Nelson Piquet Jr has already said most the paddock dislike Hamilton. Infact Nelson has said that he doesnt think Hamilton will make the first corner because of other drivers who dislike him. I dont know why... Maybe its Hamiltons skill... fit bird and fast car that its driving other drivers up the wall.... or the things Hamilton says? Ironically Senna was disliked aswell.. mainly for his brash words and aggressive driving style (ala Hamilton), till he became a legend and a mythical figure.
fit bird fast car?? sorry but his bird is 30 and a cradle snatcher his car is fast because of his teams cheating the year before. i have been a f1 fan for 20 years nearly and have never heard so much bullshit about an ordinary driver. He's good yes or he wouldn't be in f1 but he's no where near as good as the "English" media makes out. comparing him to senna is ludicrous!!
haha... for people like you, even if Hamilton wins the championship 5 times he will not get the recognition he deserves. Who was it who used the data again? Alonso was it?! yet he's not hated as much as Hamilton is... this data never gets mentioned in the same breath as Alonso. THIS IS MY POINT. Will you honestly give the recognition to Hamilton IF he wins the championship 5 times? or are you still going to blame it on the stolen data even though the specifications have totally changed.
honestly i wouldn't even say he's won it once yet. with the cock-ups of Ferrari's pit stops and kubica not capitalising on his late run and Hamilton making plenty of mistakes he hasn't destroyed the competition like schumi Alonso hakkinen hill senna all did. it makes watching F1 better yes but the way the media makes out Hamilton can do the impossible is too much. if he does go onto win the title 5 times i will respect him but i don't see it happening.
lol, sure. exclude the emphasis that Ferrari counted on Hamilton's mistakes - which were not about driving abilty... more about technical ruling and pitstop drama. anyway, Ham will only get better whether you like it or not. He will cut on the stupid mistakes. on your theory... senna, schumi et al should all have championships taken away because they became close.
o.k example. i was watching soccer A.M last week when murray walker was on. Max( one of the hosts) asked murray why lewis was so special and why he could see overtaking oppertunities that no other driver could see. do you honestly think that kimi alonso kubica massa etc. are blind or something!! this is my point english media making him out to be superhuman and can do no wrong and also what about Paul di Resta, dario franchitti and alan mcnish all had massive seasons and never got a mention.
1990,Prost & Senna agreed with the stewards before qualifing, that Pole Position would be on the left side (drivers view). Senna fought hard for that pole position, the Ferrari certainly being the quicker car that day. What happened afterwards? Their agreement counts for nothing (guess who intervened ?!) and Senna suddenly is at disadvantage for being on pole! With the '89 memories still fresh in mind he decides "to go for it". The accident is just the result of Senna being treaten so badly.
F1 needs another senna, u can tell he is only interested in the racing and the moneys a byproduct.
Lewis is a walking ATM for MacLaren, Kimi gets 25 million a year.
What have the money men turned the sport into?
I remember watchin a celebrity being interviewed on the grid by martin brundle and he asked her who is her favourite driver tho wit she replied "aaaaaaaaaaaam, i like them all"
he speaks so honestly, so open, you don't see that anymore in modern F1, there's too much money and business in the sport, drivers are simply not allowed to be open
the fact that Prost had more points and didn't won the 88 championship is due to thefact that this year ( and some others too ) the winner was the one who won most of the races.
i began to folllow Senna since the 84 Monaco Gp and seen the whole evolution thrgough years, he was a very talented driver, learning a lot from being Prost teammate for set up the car. i never saw this interview, but unfortunately F1 nowdays lacks of people like him to say things straight, and it won't go any better
well tjenanico.. you got a point. now that he's dead the "legend syndrom" has spawned like monroe, cobain and so on.. Senna was not perfect, and in 1989 his manoeuver was just stupid and way too optimistic. i still believe he was the best driver in history but prost has been very understimated; he has more points than senna in 1988 but has lost the championship, in 1990 he could have won it without the stupid crash. the only one who really challenged senna (and to make him look stupid sometimes)
He was 3-time champion, you don't become champion by accident. He's good n all that. But what a sore looser. If you believe in your own abilities you don't have to push other cars of track, because of what the race stewards decide. When he was at Williams he was yappin about Benetton cheating and so on...
Balestre took his in win in japan a year earlier cause he won after prost ride him off track. He came back to the ciruit with almost a lap down. overtoke everybody and won. but balestre took away that win because senna took a small shortcut to get back on the circuit becuase prost drove him off. Thats how prost got champion that year.
Balestre was a french cunt helping prost. He took his win so prost would be the champion. A year later balestre fucked him again by takin the pole on the dirty side of the track. after agreeing with everybody the pole would be on the clean side of the track. I give him credits for doin it. you should be a champion while race to the bitter end but prost got champion 2 times by politics! with help from balestre. (head of the fia was the frenchman balestre.)
Senna was the best.. but it's sad that he was so stupid. In 1990 he was guilty and made the stupid manouvre on purpose to beat Prost in the championship. He should have been suspended.
How old are you??? bet you even seen him racing... for many people he allways be the best driver in F1. don't say things about him that aren't true, he just said what he tought about what happend... don't make yourself seem stupid
Noel Malta:- Senna like no other, over 50 pole positions in the first 6 years and for me. still a record of 65 poles dispite schumacher beating this record. Senna only drove for 10 years against the 15 of michael. Senna will always remain the king of speed
Senna was overtaking Prost and Prost slammed his car into Senna´s. Prost was out of the race, but Senna continued again and Managed to win. He was however disqualified for missing a chicane when he got back on track after the incident. Otherwise he would have won the title
stupid decision cos he had no choice but to cut the chicane as he was almost on the slip road. Its not as if he gained any time as both he and prost were stationary for a while
That was a shame (the disqualification). Because Mansell, FIA's favorite, for being english, had all the benefits. In San Marino he did the absurd to cut Acqua Minerale on purpose in every lap of the qualifying and was not punished by that. As he did in Belgium 87, in the same race when Piquet was punished for the same reason he wasn't. And in 89, after being obviously disqualified, Mansell went to the race and crashed with.
This and the message of before are an answer to 5up3rhan5.
Even after that he played the fool and pretended he didn't see the black flag or didn't know the rules (of course he did, so he knew he was already disqualified when did reverse on the pits, like Senna said in that 89's portuguese GP press conference). Then Mansell threatened to quit F1 if he received his deserved punishment, like a crying boy and FIA, as they did every year, attended his claims.

i agree with you about alot of your comment accept the fact that they can do it far better then you. they all have the same abilities. which still brings it down to the driver. and talking crap on Massa did you not notice that when they removed the TCS Massa suddenly improved greatly is that not a good thing? what the hell are you talking about. and as for Ayrton im a huge fan a huge follower of the way he lived his life and the way he won! remember that F1 is also a techical sport!

I agree that F1 is probably easier now than when Senna and Prost were there. But, F1 is not easy at all. I'd love to see u drive Lewis' McLaren and beat his time around any circuit. You'd lose and we all know it.

i will see the pilots of know driving a f1 without traction control, without stability control, without electronics, without start assistence....
only the oldest pilots will be able to drive....now is the computer driver a f1 car not the pilot...
lelone22 2 years ago 3
ummm....the 2008 and 2009 f1 cars didn't and don't have traction- or lounch control....
TheOriginalGayman 2 years ago
The cars of the early 1990's had more assistance than the ones of 2008-2009.
Even the early 2000 cars didn't have all the things the cars had in 1990.
They used to use actrive suspension, traction control, abs at one stage. Even Schumacher used traction control and launch control in 1994 in Benneton Although it was illegal - the technology was there. Only difference now is the cars are safer, and more stable with the aero dynamics... Mecahnical grip is similar.
Playtechy 2 years ago
Senna was one of the very greatest drivers, of course. But your cliched mythology about how "easy" F1 is these days is nonsense. Having to manually shift a gearstick doesn't automatically make you a etter driver. Also, the number of reltively less talented drivers, across the grid, has decreased in recent years in comparison to the 80's-early 90's.
Stereolabdream 3 years ago
teddycon you wouldn't come within 20 seconds of hamilton on silverstone... get off the couch and stop shouting at the TV screen thinking you're a hero because you're an idiot... how the hell would you know what it's like to drive an F1 car of even a 125cc clubman go kart like i do. even go karting is immensly physical at it's peak so F1? god knows... who are you to mock modern f1 drivers anyway, sure they have semi-auto gearboxs and paddle shifts and no clutch pedal but they still drive the cars

This man was the greatest F1 driver of all time, but, his decision to take out Prost on the first corner of the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix could have killed them both. I would have loved to see how that race would have unfolded if they didn't crash.
Audioquest56 3 years ago 2
A GP2 driver was killed at that corner on crash very similar, one car went airborne over the tire and hit the catch fence. Senna would have won the race, but he was trying to make a point

yes, he hasn't won any championship yet, makes a lot of stupid mistakes and drives in a team which stole technology from ferrari. yeah I'll keep ignoring and won't even dare to compare him with Senna.
protztom 3 years ago
And when did Kubica win the title? Contridicting yourself
bretdrfc 3 years ago
lol, stole the information from Ferrari... and which driver used the information to his advantage again? Alonso did, thats who, he admitted it. But lets make Alonso seems all innocent shall we? Mistakes? Hamilton is only in his second season... its because of his mistakes the championship is still alive!... The other drivers are counting on his mistakes... so Hamilton is on top in my book. The raw talent, he beats everyone on the grid.
deperer 3 years ago 2
On top in your book, but not mine, ok? And the clip is about Senna, not Hamilton. Do the Brits have to come out with hamilton everytime now?

We got our punishment in the 1980's... so where is theres?... and why is he still focusing on the little english problems. Now qwerty... reply back... and ask me another british jelousy sports related question... the same question if u will.
deperer 3 years ago
i have nothing to say. if hamilton does good tomorrow and if someone else intentionally forces him out of the race, i'll concede- the other racers really do have a problem with him. but if he screws it up himself- then that will prove somethings wrong in his head...
qwerty7546 3 years ago
Nelson Piquet Jr has already said most the paddock dislike Hamilton. Infact Nelson has said that he doesnt think Hamilton will make the first corner because of other drivers who dislike him. I dont know why... Maybe its Hamiltons skill... fit bird and fast car that its driving other drivers up the wall.... or the things Hamilton says? Ironically Senna was disliked aswell.. mainly for his brash words and aggressive driving style (ala Hamilton), till he became a legend and a mythical figure.
deperer 3 years ago
fit bird fast car?? sorry but his bird is 30 and a cradle snatcher his car is fast because of his teams cheating the year before. i have been a f1 fan for 20 years nearly and have never heard so much bullshit about an ordinary driver. He's good yes or he wouldn't be in f1 but he's no where near as good as the "English" media makes out. comparing him to senna is ludicrous!!
sickpup4 3 years ago
haha... for people like you, even if Hamilton wins the championship 5 times he will not get the recognition he deserves. Who was it who used the data again? Alonso was it?! yet he's not hated as much as Hamilton is... this data never gets mentioned in the same breath as Alonso. THIS IS MY POINT. Will you honestly give the recognition to Hamilton IF he wins the championship 5 times? or are you still going to blame it on the stolen data even though the specifications have totally changed.
deperer 3 years ago 3
honestly i wouldn't even say he's won it once yet. with the cock-ups of Ferrari's pit stops and kubica not capitalising on his late run and Hamilton making plenty of mistakes he hasn't destroyed the competition like schumi Alonso hakkinen hill senna all did. it makes watching F1 better yes but the way the media makes out Hamilton can do the impossible is too much. if he does go onto win the title 5 times i will respect him but i don't see it happening.
sickpup4 3 years ago
lol, sure. exclude the emphasis that Ferrari counted on Hamilton's mistakes - which were not about driving abilty... more about technical ruling and pitstop drama. anyway, Ham will only get better whether you like it or not. He will cut on the stupid mistakes. on your theory... senna, schumi et al should all have championships taken away because they became close.
deperer 3 years ago
o.k example. i was watching soccer A.M last week when murray walker was on. Max( one of the hosts) asked murray why lewis was so special and why he could see overtaking oppertunities that no other driver could see. do you honestly think that kimi alonso kubica massa etc. are blind or something!! this is my point english media making him out to be superhuman and can do no wrong and also what about Paul di Resta, dario franchitti and alan mcnish all had massive seasons and never got a mention.
sickpup4 3 years ago 2
ummm David Beckham???????????

1990,Prost & Senna agreed with the stewards before qualifing, that Pole Position would be on the left side (drivers view). Senna fought hard for that pole position, the Ferrari certainly being the quicker car that day. What happened afterwards? Their agreement counts for nothing (guess who intervened ?!) and Senna suddenly is at disadvantage for being on pole! With the '89 memories still fresh in mind he decides "to go for it". The accident is just the result of Senna being treaten so badly.

the fact that Prost had more points and didn't won the 88 championship is due to thefact that this year ( and some others too ) the winner was the one who won most of the races.
i began to folllow Senna since the 84 Monaco Gp and seen the whole evolution thrgough years, he was a very talented driver, learning a lot from being Prost teammate for set up the car. i never saw this interview, but unfortunately F1 nowdays lacks of people like him to say things straight, and it won't go any better

well tjenanico.. you got a point. now that he's dead the "legend syndrom" has spawned like monroe, cobain and so on.. Senna was not perfect, and in 1989 his manoeuver was just stupid and way too optimistic. i still believe he was the best driver in history but prost has been very understimated; he has more points than senna in 1988 but has lost the championship, in 1990 he could have won it without the stupid crash. the only one who really challenged senna (and to make him look stupid sometimes)
kicknetik 3 years ago
He was 3-time champion, you don't become champion by accident. He's good n all that. But what a sore looser. If you believe in your own abilities you don't have to push other cars of track, because of what the race stewards decide. When he was at Williams he was yappin about Benetton cheating and so on...
tjenanico 3 years ago
Balestre took his in win in japan a year earlier cause he won after prost ride him off track. He came back to the ciruit with almost a lap down. overtoke everybody and won. but balestre took away that win because senna took a small shortcut to get back on the circuit becuase prost drove him off. Thats how prost got champion that year.
Joram25 3 years ago
Balestre was a french cunt helping prost. He took his win so prost would be the champion. A year later balestre fucked him again by takin the pole on the dirty side of the track. after agreeing with everybody the pole would be on the clean side of the track. I give him credits for doin it. you should be a champion while race to the bitter end but prost got champion 2 times by politics! with help from balestre.
Ventur88 3 years ago
Ventur88 3 years ago
Ventur88 3 years ago
Ventur88 3 years ago
Ventur88 3 years ago

Senna was overtaking Prost and Prost slammed his car into Senna´s. Prost was out of the race, but Senna continued again and Managed to win. He was however disqualified for missing a chicane when he got back on track after the incident. Otherwise he would have won the title
5up3rhan5 3 years ago
stupid decision cos he had no choice but to cut the chicane as he was almost on the slip road. Its not as if he gained any time as both he and prost were stationary for a while
LeMansIndy500 3 years ago
That was a shame (the disqualification). Because Mansell, FIA's favorite, for being english, had all the benefits. In San Marino he did the absurd to cut Acqua Minerale on purpose in every lap of the qualifying and was not punished by that. As he did in Belgium 87, in the same race when Piquet was punished for the same reason he wasn't. And in 89, after being obviously disqualified, Mansell went to the race and crashed with.
danieldbdb 3 years ago 2
This and the message of before are an answer to 5up3rhan5.
Even after that he played the fool and pretended he didn't see the black flag or didn't know the rules (of course he did, so he knew he was already disqualified when did reverse on the pits, like Senna said in that 89's portuguese GP press conference). Then Mansell threatened to quit F1 if he received his deserved punishment, like a crying boy and FIA, as they did every year, attended his claims.
