  • is it bad i poop in the toilet

  • Looove the onscreen text....."SIMON ONLY PERFORMED THIS ONCE"........

Fab, show much better than ANYTHING we've seen in the last 19 years since!!!

    Pure stage craft!!!!!

  • how did he get 3 broken ribs and how did he not die??

  • whats the point of that if we didn't see his head come back together

  • @MrBWeather what kind of audience? when do you see it? where is it? Its was only perfomanced once and in front of a lot of cameras and takes for television. So my theory is good at least.

  • @kagebarb It was a show called "The Secret Cabaret" broadcast on C4 in the early 90's. All tricks were done before an audience that this clip doesn't show. Mr. Drake still performs illusions live today. I had the pleasure of sitting three feet from him, watching him levitate stuff :)

  • @NicklesAve That can't be it, you can see his body in the gap under between the boards and the floor.

@kagebarb it was done in front of a live audience too, so it can't just be that!!

@apaobanaga I completely agree!! I want to see his head float up and reattach!! Kinda like with David Copperfield's saw trick!!!

  • the perfomance doesnt follow a one-take sequence.

pay attention to 0:21, the top wooden has already closed over simon's head.

and then, in 0:22, the take is in the closing action yet.

at 0:35 the head is moving a lot, of course, its a man in there.

however, in 0:37(another take), the moving of the head is almost non-human, like a doll manipulated.

the secret in there is that it has a lot os takes compiled to intend that is just one.

sorry bad english, it's my secondary language.

  • No blood??

  • @thetechx I had the pleasure of discussing this with Simon last week. He informed me that the guillotine was indeed borrowed from Alice Cooper and that he cracked his ribs during the rehearsal of the trick. He then did the entire show with cracked ribs. Ow!

  • @richardpurves I met Simon at Blackpool convention about 16/17 years ago. He was fooling around on George Kovari's stall...Kovari's sales went up that day I think......But what a Great guy, with THE best ever magic show/s, and a true love of the history of performance art!

  • where's the prestige?

  • The trick is, a man's head gets cut off, period.

  • @slypher1998 if he died then why was he taken to the hospital after the performance for three broken ribs.

  • Ok so the floor on the platform must open at some point. The blade triggers the platform he is kneeling on to open. The platform is built tall enough for one man to fit under it unseen in a specially built compartment. He got cracked ribs most likely from falling his knee might have went into his side when he landed. I'm almost certain of this because when it happens you can't see his body you just see his head so when he falls you just see his head falling.

  • as you guys can see it said he only did this trick once hence the term once meaning he died during the act

  • @slypher1998

Or, he only did it once because he suffered 3 cracked ribs. There can be many reasons why that would cause him not to do it anymore.

1:Publicists/Agents/Whoever behind the scenes don't want him to do it anymore.

2:Friends and family were worried about and made him not want to take the risks anymore.

3:Many magicians run around the stage when doing their performances and running around with cracked ribs would hurt like crazy. he prolly wasnt able to perform for a bit after.

  • I don't understand how it's done. Anyone know? Please, I must know!

  • @omgbygollywow its done by a little skrew is above his head and it stops about 1 inch above his head he then just puts his head down through the velvet flap and his head goes under the hollow wooden box

  • I saw how it works ... again just a cool toy

  • I remember seeing this on Channel 4, late at night on a school night. I have to admit it really did freak me out when I frist saw this in 1992. Jesus I feel old.

As to the mention of Alice Cooper performing with the head. That is exactly what happened at the end of this illusion, she pulled the head out of the basket and kissed it on the mouth while blood poored out of the neck. Then the credit rolled!

  • how do you get broken ribs from a fake beheading?

  • @Rickflickpics He falls three of four feet on his front.

  • yo all are blind. in the close sight, just before the final "cut" clip, guillotine have two parts and in the final only one. You can see two pieces if you open your eyes... In the final clip you only see a haired head slightly moving... It is a magic camera trick.

  • I replayed the head falling off a thousand times.

  • Wheres the magic part?

  • the easiest trick in the world. it's only the right timing

  • @kingofpop361 iagree as well

  • notice, the bottom wood, before the guillotine came down, 0:17, was CLEAN, then, after it came down, 0:41, it's stained with blood... no wonder he did it just once

  • what the fuck? He died?

  • @vikanug no, this video is from 1992 and simon drake is the magic adviser for terry gilliam latest film.

  • abouth the ribs after this part of the trick they trew his body around like a toy doll

  • wen the text that he performed this trick just once poped up i just started loling like 'i wonder why...' lol

what's the first impression this text gives you in the moment you see a person performing something under a guillotine? :D

  • the same magic trick doesn't mean it's the same illusion. just because alice's trick is done that way doesn't mean this one is.

  • to have a trick you need to do something other than die

  • it's a trick. he is still alive.

    lame trick, actually.

If a little kid sees this live, he/she thinks they just kill someone!

  • I don't understand this trick, it leaves me so unsatisfied. He never gets up and says "Taa daa!". He's just dies right in front of everyone then gets off with 3 broken ribs.

  • how the fuck do u crack a rip when u get ur head cut off

  • @descendancy8 i agree!!

  • this is shit

  • wtf

  • this trick was revealed by the mask magician..lol

  • did i just watch a really graphci video or that was a magic trick?

  • I don't understand how he broke his ribs. His jaw, maybe. but why his ribs?

  • he aint got no game, son

  • Chuck norris does this with a real guillotine

  • got your facts wrong dude.

chuck norris tried it, but it never worked.

    blades kept shattering

  • no he made them kill themselves out of fright....

  • uhh......woa. that was the best illusion ive seen out of all these vids.

  • Comment removed

  • ganga!!

  • Thats not a magic trick, thats straight murder.

  • cool trick. sad thing that he broke his 3 ribs.

  • The table he's laying on drops aswell.

So suddenly the impact must he been hard.

It explains the three broken ribs

  • Alice Cooper does this every night in his act...

He said the blade is real and you only have like 5 seconds between you and the blade.

Like dragonlord1485 said...the bottom wood is fake and drops as soon as the blade is like and inch or two from your head.

Now, the way Alice does it....you get a prop head and show it off to the crowd.....even better

    ;)

    haha

  • the theatrics is why I like alice cooper

  • @SteveHomicide what happened after did he die

  • @GooseOfficial

.....please don't tell me you're asking if Alice Cooper died...?

  • @SteveHomicide i saw that trick live. along with a bunch of others on the grusome twosome tour. i got front fow :D it was amazing

  • The Trick is easy as can be the "magician" lays down on a table on a lift he also has a body cast on his back when the blade drops so does the table dropping his head into the basket but the body cast stays up mAking it look like the "magicians" body is still on the table

  • umm, they didnt show him after...we just saw a live decapitation for all we know

  • y was his head drooping?

  • part of the trick

  • sometimes a simple trick is the greatest of magic.

    Quoted from a book.

  • Simple trick is always greatest because it's so simple that audience can't figure it out because they think to advanced. And ofcourse theres alot less things to mess up when its simple

  • the bottle was made of sugar glass cant explain the guillotine though

  • lol you found the biggest part

  • lol you explain it then

  • how did he do it?

  • the wood on the bottom stock is fake, foam, rubber, whatever. when the blade is released its timed so he has enough time to drop his head (Still attached) into the basket. NPH did the same trick on Ellen a while ago. and thats how we did it in a haunted house i was in.

  • They should have done these sort of illusions back 500 years ago. Then People wouldn't need to die for real.

  • looooooooooooooooooooool

  • i know that trick, very simple

  • its sumple.........its just magic

  • tricks that involve death are never as good because you know the magician doesnt really die so theres never that "was it fake??" thought

  • You should never have that "was it fake??" thought anyway, because magic is made up entirely of illusions. So instead of trying to separate real from fake, sit back and enjoy the effect.

  • true, but its more fun when they make you think that =]

  • Imagine if he didn't drop in time or there was a malfunction his head could of actually been chopped off.

  • Who said the guillotine was real either, "Death defying" tricks are usually farthest away from just that. a simple flashpaper trick has more danger in hurting yourself than these.

  • Magic is more than the trick. It's the presentation that turns simple slight of hand into magic.

  • They really should not have said he had three cracked ribs. That completely gives away the secret.... and also the fact that he did not have padding below probably should be a lesson to any assistant or magician who tries this one!

  • LOL this one is stupid, clearly his entire body falls its really obvious.

  • bloody hell, Alice Cooper's been doing that bit in his stage show for 35 years or so.

  • he just falled down, damn, so silly and even guiliotine can be fake

  • he fell with the head but the blanket blocked rest of the body so it looked like his head fell also it said he craked 3 ribs that just gives it away that would be the only way that he could injure his ribs

  • he has crack ribs? when did it hurt him?

  • err... its pretty basic trick guys. his whole body falls with the head....

  • oh wow, you can totally see the whole body fall down

  • imma kif insib malti/maltija kull fejn inkun? hehe grande!!!

  • WTF

  • lol he only did this once huh?

  • yea cause he died after lol idk

  • LOL i was wondering why it said he had cracked ribs doing a guilotine trick LOL

but yes he must of broken his ribs cos his whole body landed on solid ground harhar

  • you can see that his whole body falls straight downwards, whatever he landed on was most likely not too soft, explaining the broken ribs

  • What I want to know is how this guy broke his ribs during this trick.

  • instead of his head it was his penis.....

  • i...dont get it O.o

  • no one does O.o

  • haha it made me laugh though xD

  • of course not, that would be cheating.

  • so....does he get his head back?

  • o_o' is he ok....

  • what? why cut there? this sucks.

  • when Alice Cooper gets decapitated at his concerts, its fucking awesome. theres blood everywhere and the executioner takes his head out of the basket and it spews blood all over the place. then they put his head on a body in a big frankenstein machine thing and he comes back to life.

  • The magician who went on tour with Alice was James Randi! I'm surprised he is not on this list.

  • timed*

  • lol keep pausing it and its not like correctly times

  • now you know why he only performed it once lol

  • rofl

  • lol

  • Alice does it better... The trick is that the bottom falls (showing the illusion of decapitation) and in Cooper's case there's already a head in the basket. But on top there's a smaller bottom inside that drops down once the blade hits its, its so fast barley see it

  • howd he do that?

  • I personally like Alice Cooper's version of this. It's must more elaborate.

  • no blood?

    hmmmmm

  • he broke 3 ribs... when his whole body fell down WITH the head... pretty impressive illusion... but easy to understand...

  • hey!!!! i have the 1337 disk!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its easy, the thing under the neck gives and the whole body falls with the head.

  • i watched this and figured it out first time. it really isnt that dificult.

but it is a very impressive illusion.

again if your a genuin magician im willing to trade

  • alice cooper dos this trik every night

  • I remember when John Cleese did this. Would have been more convincing if we'd seen the head talking just as it was coming off.

  • well, this guy should definately say how he did it, you know, cause it's one of the tricks that make people think it's a camera trick,

  • In the last camera...the head is not moving...that sucks..

  • nice fake magic :) just a midget in a suit????

  • Where is the fucking blood??

  • I can understand why he performed it just once :)

  • ...awesome!!!

  • wtf did he get the 3 cracked ribs from??

  • ya know, the ribs in his face ;)

  • Lol, you made me laugh :D Though i was thinking about this myself.. :)

  • eeeeeeeerrrrr... tht is sik

  • wow, you suck

  • @willmason7

dont call me racial names please.

also dont start shit with me antisemitic racist
