I've been keeping aggressive fish for 30 years and feed him brine shrimp, mysis and blood worms with bait shop red worms periodically and he will live a long life. gorge him if you feed once a day and twice is good but mix the the feedings up(alternate what you feed and make sure his belly is full before you stop.
cool fish. i have one too. i wouldn't recomend them for anyone not going for an aggressive tank. they are MEAN. he bites my hands and goes after the new fish. also he loves to pick out eyeballs of live fish and silversides, i dont know why, any ideas?
What a beauty! I got mine about a week ago and already he's the undisputed boss in the tank! I hope that someday he will look as healthy and brightly colored like this!. Which is the best food for these triggers? He does love artemia and nori seaweed.
What a great fish! The Picasso is my favorite trigger. I've done tropical freshwater for years and have been researching info for my future salt tank. Planning my tank around a Picasso and Male Bird Wrasse. Thanks for the great video.
they are super smart for a fish. I "pet" mine (it gets close enough, I touch him and he doest swim away or get scared at all. best fish ever. I sold it but I am gonna get it back :D
Yes, they do grunt, mostly if stressed. mine is pretty friendly with me and likes attention, I pet him and he is pretty smart. He know exactly when feeding time is and when its time for bed/lights out. He would bite if given the chance though. He spits water at me and comes to the top of tank and swims on his side.
ITS MUCH BETTER TO SEE THEM ON THE SEA...FREE...

can someone tell me if its true that picasso triggerfish make grunting noises?
CrayfishCollector 3 years ago
i've never heard mine do this. However he does make noises when he eats, but this is more of a cracking noise.

@CrayfishCollector Mine does more of a grinding sound. It's rare, I've only heard it once (I havent had mine for that long)

This is my favourite fish, I love their hidden fin, unfortunate choice of music though.
